Chapter two

686 Words
Miranda POV During break, Jerry and I were walking down the school hallway When we caught a group of girls gossiping. We ignored it. Gossip was normal. What made us stop was when we heard "Alpha"’s name. It piqued my interest. Especially when they mentioned the Alpha’s son. People talked about the royal family a lot. But these girls were talking about _him_. “I heard the Alpha’s son will be resuming our school tomorrow,” one girl said. “Isn’t that great?” I moved closer. And at my arrival, they stopped talking. “Where did you get that information from?” I asked, voice cold. Even though we went to the same school, I was still the Alpha’s daughter. They listened when I spoke. The girl shrank back in fear. I didn’t even do anything. I just asked a question. I softened my tone. “Where did you get that information from?” She bowed her head. “I... I overheard it from other students.” I scoffed. “Remember you’re here to study, not gossip. If I ever hear you talking about my family again, you’ll have me to deal with.” With that, I walked away. Jerry followed behind me. --- I stopped at an empty classroom. No one was there. I felt a hand on my shoulder. Of course. Jerry. He was the only one who shared my pain. Not my dad. Not even the people I called family. I sobbed silently. “I hate hearing about that boy. Why is he coming to my school? Are they trying to ruin my life? There’s no way we can school here peacefully.” Jerry pulled me into a hug. Silent. Patting my back until I calmed down. After a while, we headed to the cafeteria for lunch. Then back to class. --- In the evening, I walked downstairs to the dining. The Alpha called for every royal family member to come for dinner. He only did that when he had something important to announce. The dining table was already full when I got there. And my seat... My seat was already occupied. By _him_. I don’t even know his name. Not like I care. I stared at him angrily. How dare he take my seat? He lifted his head. Our gazes met. And he smiled. “Hi, little sister,” he said. “It’s been a while since I saw you. Funny how we live on the same roof yet barely see each other.” He pulled out a seat next to him. “Come sit.” I rolled my eyes. Ignored him. Pulled a chair from the other side. I was NOT sitting close to him. Who was he calling little sister? The audacity!! “You don’t come to dinner often,” he said. “Is it only because the Alpha called everyone that you came?” I almost stood up to slap him. What right did he have to question me? This was MY home. I scoffed. “I’d rather stay in my room than come to dinner. I don’t want to see annoying people.” His frown deepened. He knew I meant him. Why was he acting like we were on good terms? Was he looking for trouble? He tried to say something else. But I shut him up with a cold look. He flinched. Surprising. Such a coward. I felt proud. The Alpha noticed the tension. “Miranda,” he said with a frown. “Ace was just being nice. There’s no need to be rude.” Was I supposed to speak calmly to my enemy? Ace. His name didn’t even suit him. I huffed. The Alpha looked like he was about to explode. But who cares? Ever since mum died, The only thing he cares about is his heir. He doesn’t care ab out me. And I don’t care about him either. We act like each other doesn’t exist. I sat at the edge of the table. Far from him. He could only stare at me in anger. Soon the meal was served. And everyone started eating.
