Maddie reached school and immediately texted Simeon to meet her in the cafeteria. He arrived a few minutes later, smiling as always. Maddie opened her lunchbox, warmed the food in the microwave, and served it to him on a plate. She even fed him with her own hands.
Simeon couldn’t stop praising her. The food was delicious, and Maddie felt extremely happy because he loved what she had cooked. He gently held her hands, brought them close to his face, kissed them softly, and said,
“You made this so well. I would love to eat from your hands every day after we get married.”
Maddie laughed shyly.
“Whenever you say, I’m ready for you.”
They smiled at each other. It had already been six months of their beautiful journey together, and they were more in love than ever. They had even promised that after one year, they would get engaged.
“I’ll stand on my own feet soon,” Simeon said seriously. “Then we’ll get married too.”
They both laughed, holding hands tightly. Whenever Simeon held her hand, Maddie felt a special happiness inside her heart.
After the break, they returned to their classes. At the end of the day, Simeon came to her and said,
“Meet me before you leave. I want to meet you alone. Let’s go for dinner today.”
Maddie looked worried.
“I can’t go today. Let me make some plan.”
“Okay, but please meet me soon,” he said.
On her way home, Maddie kept thinking about how she could meet him. She was super excited but also scared. She called her friend Dagma and shared everything. Together, they made a plan: Maddie would tell her mother she was going to Dagma’s house, and from there Simeon would pick her up.
Maddie video-called Simeon and made silly faces.
“I can’t meet you. No one is allowing me to go out.”
Simeon looked disappointed.
“Then meet me tomorrow. I really want to spend time with you.”
She smiled.
“I’ll go to Dagma’s house, and you’ll pick me up from there.”
Simeon was so happy he couldn’t stop smiling. That night, they talked for hours, planning everything. They even decided to wear the same color dress. Both of them were so excited that they couldn’t sleep properly.
The next morning, they saw each other at school and smiled silently. During lunch, Maddie whispered,
“I’m really excited but also scared. What if someone sees us?”
Simeon held her hand.
“Everything will be fine. I’m with you. Don’t worry.”
Later, Maddie told Dagma about her fear.
“Relax, it’s totally fine,” Dagma said teasingly. “Don’t forget to send pictures. First date, huh? Be careful. If he does anything wrong, text me.”
Maddie laughed.
“He’s the nicest person I’ve ever met. No need to worry.”
When Maddie reached home, her mother noticed her sad face.
“What happened? Are you okay?”
“Yes, Mama,” Maddie smiled.
She went to her room, took out her clothes, ironed them, and started getting ready. She loved doing makeup and wanted to look perfect for Simeon.
But suddenly, some guests arrived at her house.
Her heart sank.
She became completely sad because all she wanted was to meet Simeon. He started calling her again and again.
“Where are you? I’m waiting. Start getting ready,” he said.
“We have guests at home. How can I come?” Maddie replied sadly.
“No way. Please come. I really want to see you today,” Simeon said.
She tried to ask her mother if she could go to Dagma’s house, but her mother refused.
“Are you mad? I’m alone at home. You can’t go.”
Maddie felt completely broken. After all the planning, now everything was falling apart. Finally, she gathered courage and called Simeon.
“I’m sorry… I can’t come today. It’s impossible.”
There was silence on the call.
“Okay,” Simeon said in a low voice and cut the call. He switched off his phone.
Simeon had already dressed up and was ready to meet her. Even his mother teased him, as she knew about Maddie. But now, he slowly changed his clothes, threw them on the bed, and went out with his friend, hiding his disappointment.
At the same time, Maddie was stuck at home with the guests, smiling from outside but crying from inside, worried about Simeon and waiting for the moment they would leave so she could finally talk to him again.
Their first planned date had turned into their first big heartbreak. 💔
