A Place of Peace, Happiness and Sorrow

*Artemis POV*
I ran for what felt like days but was in fact a little over 6 hours. I ran only stopping when I came across a river for a drink, and begin running again.
I ran even though I am sure i cut my paws, even when tree branches reached out and grabbed my fur I didn't care. I ran until I came across the only place that gives me peace.... my uncle Tomas's ranch. well not really my uncle but I call him that.
I collapsed a few feet from his door it was late in the evening I didn't want to wake him, So I fell asleep there.
**Next Morning**
I awake to a scream and running footsteps.
"Lilly what's wrong why did you scream," I hear my uncle's voice and look up. "Artemis, is that you?" he asks. I simply nod my head.
My aunt runs in and grabs a blanket and drapes it over me so I can shift. I shift back to my human form and they lead me inside and give my a pair of cloths.
"What brings you hear little Raven?" Lilly asks as she hands me a cup of warm honey milk.
I began crying. What is wrong with me? Why did I come here? How can I tell them I found my mate? Especially when I loved their son so much I even had his child. A child of a human and a shifter.
"Little Raven?" My uncle calls. "It's fine you can tell us, we will not get upset."
"I-I f-found my mate," I tell them through sobs.I look up to see their reactions when they don't say any thing. "Say something damn it! Yell, scream, tell me to leave and never come back! Just please say something," I tell when I can't tell what they are thinking.
"Artemis, calm down. We knew this day would come and so did Anthony before he passed away protecting you and his unborn child 7 years ago," Lilly tells me.
"She is right little Raven. We are mearly wondering why you are hear and not with your mate? Is there something you are not telling us?" Uncle Tomas asks.
I always hated how he knew when there was something wrong with me or if I was upset. "It is a long story," I tell him.
"Start from the beginning then," Lilly says.
I tell them everything how mom died. How I heard them kill her. How I heard they were looking for me well more precisely, how I heard a particular Alpha was looking for me a alpha who's last name was White. Then I told them what happened at the tournament how Lavette submitted how I regained control before the mating process between the wolves could be complete, and how I ran away.
All of a sudden I hear Lavette growl in my head. 'Why didn't you tell me?'
'Would it have mattered? Would you still want revenge knowing that our mate is the son of our enemy?' I growl back at her.
'That is not what I am pissed about,' she tells me.
'Then what Lavette? What are you pissed about?' I asked her.
'You knew who the son of a b***h who killed our mother was! Why the f**k did you hold the tournaments then?' she asks.
'Because I wanted to find my mate, I really did,' I admit.
She sighs 'you know we might be able to use this to our advantage.'
"Artemis," Lilly pulls me out of my conversation with Lavette when she calls me.
"Yes?" I ask.
"Artemis, it still does not explain why you ran away from your mate," she tells me.
"My mates name is Lukis James White," I tell her. "I believe he the the son of my enemy."
They looked at me shocked. Then my Uncle claps his hands, "Artemis why don't you come help me feed the horses." He seems to be trying to lighten the mood.
"I would love to Uncle," I tell him. "But first I want to visit his grave."
"Are you sure Little Raven?" Lilly asks and I nod.
As I walk to Anthony's grave I remember the first time I met him I was 19 and my brother had sent me here because of a stalker. I told him I could take care of myself, but he sent me anyway. I am glad he did though.
I arrived at his grave and striped down so I could shift once in wolf form I sit down and let out a long mournful howl. This place has always been a place of peace and happiness but it is also a place of great sorrow for me as well. I shifted back and as I was getting dressed I heard a howl in the distance. I bolted for the house.
