Suspicious actions

Mephisto saw that the student is displeased by Kris’ refusal and decided to explain the situation himself. “Please understand that there is nothing to him in joining the matches. If I were on his shoes I would also refuse a challenge from another student. But if you want to have a match with him, challenge him outside the advancement period. I see no wrong in doing that if you are only aiming to have a match with him for who knows the reason why.” Mephisto says with a bored tone just as he usually does.

His teacher then jumps in to persuade him, supporting Mephisto’s words. “He is right. Thought there is really no reason to have a match with him in the first place so just focus on your advancement for now.” His teacher sounded nervous which made his student doubt his words. “You sound like you don’t want me to fight that guy teacher. Are you perhaps afraid? He gets to have a match with a teacher but I can’t when I’m just a student?” he asked with a doubtful tone. “Precisely!- I mean no! There is no way! He used to be the lowest of the low and the match between him and Mr. Mephisto is one sided so why would you want to ask him in a match? It just doesn’t make sense.” His teacher continued.

His student is even more suspicious of his actions but since he is just a student in the academy, he needs to follow his teacher’s suggestion. But before he turns away, he told Kris that he will still challenge him for a duel. “You better not refuse me next time.” The student walks away and turns his back when Kris responds to his remarks. “I don’t care, I’d still refuse. I don’t have the obligation to answer to your challenges. I accept a challenge if I want to accept. Jumping in to a challenge every time someone issues one id stupid and pointless in my point of view.” Kris said with a calm tone. “Proving yourself to everyone that you are strong and brave is just an insult to yourself. If I’m strong I don’t need to prove that to anyone. That is how I want to respect myself.”

The student then turns to Kris with a face that is ready to explode in anger but Mephisto restrain him. “What is this-!” Mephisto looks at him directly without blinking an eye. “I hope that you respect his opinion. He is entitled to it, acting out of your anger will only result into something bad later on. And trust me, you will not like it when the headmaster decides on a punishment. I know him well, and he is merciless.”

The student withdraw his anger towards Kris and decided not to participate in the advancement and ask to excuse himself. “I’m sorry about that Mr. Mephisto, he is quite a stubborn about the things that he wants to do. Please understand.” The teacher asked forgiveness for his student’s behavior, Mephisto on the other hand doesn’t see anything that he should be asking forgiveness for.

“What’s important is that nothing bad happened that he would regret later. Lets proceed to the next pair. Please come here in the center.” The teacher turns back to his student and saw him continuing to walk out of the arena. The advancement period continues after a brief halt due to the situation. In the end, none of Inrad’s students were able to advance. Xia says that she doesn’t want to join this period of advancement. The other two also don’t want to advance due to some personal reasons. “ That concludes everything. Thank you everyone for coming here. Leave the advancement to me. And to those who doesn’t want to advance due to various reasons, please show me the worth of your decisions in the future.” Mephisto closes his notes and allow everyone to leave and rest.

Xia follows Kris to the training area. By the time they arrive, Flora and the others have already started training. “Faster you slowpoke!  You’ve been training for days now but you’re still this weak?! Stop training and go sleep you weakling!” Flora keeps on shouting at Ophir and James while stepping on their back as they do their twenty out of fifty push ups. “Flora we need to rest. You- you are going to kill us-!” Flora put her weigh more on Ophir’s back when he complained. “You are a guy and you are complaining on something simple as this? Don’t tell me both of you are girls in disguise!” Kris did not expect to see a sight like this in his lifetime. It was the first time that he had seen Flora becoming a dictator.

“Kris, don’t tell me you actually come here to be treated like that.” Xia said with a horrified face. [Now, now. What are you even thinking Xia. There is no way that I will want to be treated like trash.] Kris wants to tell her something like that but a single movement from him made her move back away. “You are misunderstanding something here Xia, she is not usually here during our training here.” Kris can’t find the right words to say to prove his innocence when Xia is convinced of what she saw.

Flora then notice and greets them while gallantly standing on both Ophir and James’ back. “A nice day to be exercising right? Looks like you brought another recruit Kris, is she your classmate?” Flora steps down from their backs and almost immediately, the two fell flat on the ground in exhaustion. “Flora- dictator. Don’t want it-“ Ophir says to himself when they finally had the time to rest. He turns to his friend only to find him leaking foam from his mouth. A sight that Ophir did not expect to see in his life. The horror on James’ face made him lose consciousness. Johannes arrived with a few bottle of beverages with him.

“Johannes, -help.” Johannes sees James leaking foam while Ophir on the other hand sees hope when he sees their hero arrive. “Ms. Flora, you know you can’t push them go the limits. They are only training for almost two weeks. You can’t expect them to be doing such terrorizing training at all.” Johannes help the two up and made they drink the things he brought. “Kris, you both want to drink? I brought extras.”

“Nah, I’m fine. What I want right now is to explain to Xia that Flora doesn’t act like this every time. She now thinks that we are perverts.” Flora and Johannes turns to Xia with  confused and disgusted expressions on their faces. “Haha! So she mistook you for a p*****t that has a fetish like that huh?” Flora laughs hard while embracing her belly.

“Sorry Xia, Flora doesn’t usually do that. She is being extra strict because she did not see any improvements in their bodies and since they have only been training minimally for two weeks its understandable. She just doesn’t see that it doesn’t work like magic.”

Johannes then added some more information and finally convince Xia to believe Kris. “Why did you even follow me in the first place? I thought you are going to do something.” Kris ask Xia but the young lady said that she changed her mind. “I thought you are going to do something interesting so I tagged along. But I never imagined you would really be doing something like this to become like my uncle.” Xia says.

Kris shakes his head and smiles. “I am not doing this to become like your uncle. Our desired fighting style is just the same. I want to be a person of my own. I don’t want to chase behind a person’s back. I have already a goal in mind.  And what I want now is just to become stronger to reach my goal.” Kris said with a stern look on his face.
