The Akashic Records

After Kris gets released form the infirmary, he immediately turned into a celebrity but its not something that Kris likes so he ends up running around the academy to get away from his pursuers trying to get close to him. “These pests. Who the heck is responsible for this! PANT! PANT! PANT! PANT!” Kris says to himself. Flora’s voice surprised him when she spoke to him. “That’s your own fault for attracting too much attention.” Kris almost jolt out of the room that he run in to only to find that Flora and the other two from the training area with her finding something from the documents.

               “Where the heck did he go?’ “Check the rooms! He must be hiding in one of the rooms!” “We need to ask him something.” Kris and the others heard the other students who are looking for him standing  just outside the room. “Go check that room in front of you idiots.”

               KNOCK! KNOCK! KNOCK! KNOCK!

               “Do you think there are people inside? More importantly, do you think he’s inside?” a student ask the other student with him. “There is one way to be certain.” To their surprise, the door opened and Flora’s face appeared as she opens the door. “We’re really sorry for that miss Flora but have you seen Kris?” Flora shakes her head with a convincing expression. “Nope, maybe he hid in another room. If he’s here then we would be asking him some things as well.” Flora then opens the door and showed the students that James and Ophir are looking into the  documents.

               The students takes a few moments looking inside the room and then left when they confirmed that Kris is not inside. “We apologize for the inconvenience miss Flora. We’re leaving now.” The students both bow and left as Flora closes  the door. “I helped you so you owe me one now Kris.” Flora says a few moment after she is certain that the students left. “Thanks a lot but I don’t think I can ever pay you. I’m only poor as you know it.” Kris says but Flora shrugs her shoulder.

               “What are you talking about being poor? I never ask for you to pay me with money. That would just be extortion, what I want is information. How are you able to use a f*******n spell. And the two over there said that you were able to cast multiple spells at the same time. Any normal headed mage would not cast spells simultaneously unless they are trying to empty their mana pool. I doubt that you are a masochist.” To her surprise, Kris did not react to the words that she said.

               “That’s’ exactly what I am doing that time. I was deliberately burning away my mana in hopes that I will run out of mana so that Mathos can defeat me easily but I did not expect that he’d be injured before laying a hand on me. That was a miscalculation on my part.” Kris says with a casual tone while the three are staring at him with widely opened eyes.

               “What did you say? You were deliberately burning your mana that time? Are you serious? Did you hurt your head? No mage would do that after knowing the after effects of burning your mana pool dry.” Flora protest while the two remains silent and just listens to the both of them speaking to each other. [That is because if you burn your entire mana pool, it would condense your mana. In return your spell will be more stronger than normal and in time, it would require a much less mana to cast a spell.] Kris thinks to himself while looking at Flora whose giving him an earful of the harmful effects of mana deprivation.

               “Yeah- I’m well aware of the mana deprivation effect on my body so there is no need for you to recite every single detail to me.” Kris says with an annoyed expression. Flora finds his expression annoying as well and starts interrogating him. “Where did you learn that f*******n spell? James and Ophir said that it is only a spell that high ranking mages knows so how come you learned how to use it?” Kris then turns to the other two who is staring at him giving Kris a confirmation that Flora’s words are the truth.

               “Ugh! I learned it when I was little, there is an important person that trained us when we were kids and I just happened to read the Meteor shower from one of his books, since the day I discovered it, I secretly reads it when no one else is around.” Kris then answers Flora’s question who then asked who is the name of the noble but Kris refuse to give her an answer. “There is no need for you to know.” Kris’ expression then glooms when he remembers the smiling face of the noble even when he is facing death. “He is no longer around to answer your questions and his place no longer exist. Officials in our lands have claimed his properties as well as his mansion where we used to train.”

               Flora felt guilty for having Kris remember a bitter moment in his past and apologize. “There is no need. All I need to do now is be stronger and meet that person’s expectations. I’m sure he will be glad if we do just that.” They can still hear the footsteps outside the door, signifying that the students have not surrender and continues to look for him. “These persistent bastards. Don’t they think of their noble status? They are higher nobles and compared to them, I am just a lesser noble so why are they this persistent?”

               Kris gnash his teeth in disappointment and then out of the blue, the system notified him that he might be able to get out if he uses a certain spell.

               Notice: Spell Cloak of Light is available for use. Effects: Temporary invisibility. Downside: Due to the high level of this spell, it will consume half of your current mana. Conclusion: Use Cloak of Light and walk back to your room unnoticed.

               A few bulging nerves suddenly appear on Kris’ forehead when the message of the system rung in his head. [This little- why didn’t you tell me that earlier?!] Kris demanded an answer from the system. [Am I crazy? There is no way you’ll answer me!]

               Answer: You did not ask.

               Kris almost blew his fuse off after hearing that the system actually responded to him. [This cheeky little- calm down Kris. Calm down. The system is just messing with you.] Kris then recovers his cool demeanor as the system flashes the magic circles inside his head so he closes his eyes and listen to the system trying to explain everything about the spell.

               Origins: Cloak of Light origins from the main spell, Cloak of Destiny. How it works: This spell surrounds the subject with a barrier that absorbs all forms of light, resulting in the disappearance of the subject’s body from the human’s n***d eye.

               The system then explains the magic circles origin and what composed the Cloak of Light to become a spell when Kris asked him the spell is.

               Answer: Cloak of Destiny is rank SSS, a legendary spell that grants the user invulnerability from all other spells and injuries. Cloak of Light is derived from the original Cloak of Destiny and can be considered rank S.

               Kris feel like his head is about to explode from the information that he just got from the system and wonders where the system is getting all of these information from. [But still, a legendary spell? Isn’t that in the level of divine beings? How the heck did someone derived Cloak of Light from those beings? Did a human somehow stepped in their realm or something?]

               Answer: No, I am the one responsible for creating the spell. I derived the Cloak of Light from the information I have about the Cloak of Destiny.

               Kris froze in shock after hearing that the system can actually create spells on it’s own and its basically belongs to Kris who is the bearer of the system. “What the hell is going on-?” Kris mutters while Flora is staring at him. “What the heck is happening to you?” She mutters after seeing him looking like he is having an internal argument with his own self. A few moments later and Kris opens his eyes and found that the three are actually staring at him.

               “What?” he asked.

               Flora deems like she did not want to tell him and just use a spell and a mirror appears. Kris was surprised how pale his face is and understood why none of them wants to tell him. [Well, if you only know what I just discovered you would be in the same state as I am.] he thinks to himself as his complexion slowly returns to normal.

               “I’ll be going out now.” He said and just then Flora tells him that there are still a lot of students outside looking for him. “They will not leave this place since you are last seen here. Do you want to be surrounded by a bunch of freaks?” Flora says but Kris shrug her concern off.

               “Don’t worry, I know a spell that would keep me from being seen.” Kris then place his hand on his chest. “And what would that be?” Flora ask but to everyone’s surprise, strange magic circles starts to embed on Kris’ chest where his hand is placed.

               “Cloak of Light.” He chanted.

               FWOOOSH!

               Then all of the sudden a large wave of harmonic aura surrounds the room and Kris’ figure starts to disappear starting from where the magic circles are located.  Everyone’s mind is blown away after seeing an invisibility spell for the first time in their lives that they could not help but marvel and gasp in awe. “What- was there an invisibility spell? From the records?” Flora mutters but none of the two answers her question. “I am just as clueless as you.” Kris responded in their stead. “I just tried something and I did not expect for it to work at all.” He added.

               “Kris Grindall, what other secret are you hiding?” Flora ask with a stern tone. Kris, knows the past Flora who died and wants to tell her a few things but as things stands, he will just complicate things so he decided that he needs more time until he can establish himself. “I just want you to hide from everyone that I can use a spell like this for now. I promise that I will tell you about the things that I know in the future so until then. Please let’s get stronger together.” Without seeing Kris’ face she trusted him.

               “You better give me satisfactory and honest explanation, otherwise I will chew you.” Kris then explains briefly what she needs Flora to do to make his exit out of the room natural. And after a few queries, they carried out the plan. Flora opens and sees the busy students who are still looking for Kris in the hallways and the rooms.

               “What? You all still not done looking for him? Why don’t you just surrender. That guy is quite slippery, even we have a  hard time tracking him down.” With Flora’s brief and few words, the students that walking in the hallways slowly got fewer as time passes and Kris on the other hand got back to their room a while ago.

               [System, you better answer me honestly. What is you identity? How are you able to create a spell out of nowhere just like that? Are some sort of a divine and all knowing object or matter?] Kris ask the system inside his head and it took the system a few moments before the system can give him a proper answer.

               Answer: I am not a divine thing that you pictured in your head. I am the ‘Akashic records’

               Kris mind is blown away by the response that his head completely goes blank and fainted on the floor, Johannes later got back and sees his friend lying on the floor, out of concern, he brought him back to the infirmary where the head doctor/ Prince Jared is surprised to see him back again so soon. “What happened now?” he asked Johannes who can’t really give him a definite answer.

               “By the time I arrived after looking for him the entire morning, I saw him lying on the floor and unconscious.” Johannes explains as the head doctor flashes a smile. “This kid, is really taking my words literally.”
