“Hey, Carli,” Fiona said as she stepped into the kitchen. Carli looked very domestic with an apron over her baby belly. It gave Fiona pause as Shaun’s words tripped through her mind. ‘Are you opposed to adding to your family?’ The owner of Tanner’s Outdoor Adventures had her sleeves pushed to her elbows as she dumped a container of berries into a huge bowl of what Fiona guessed was muffin batter. Instead of giving her brain that split second to conjure her in a kitchen, pregnant with Shaun’s baby, she jingled her keys in one hand while the other was already pushing open the swinging door to leave. “I’m heading into town to run a few errands before I pick up Ian. Do you need anything?”
“I don’t think so.”
“Have you heard from Zach or Shaun about how things are going in court?”
