Isabella had only returned to the city two weeks ago after spending most of her life living far away from her family, only coming home to visit- Because of that she barely knew anyone connected to her brother's circle. She walked in and met a stranger fitted comfortably on the couch in the living room- At first she thought he was too relaxed for someone she have never seen before but she felt he must be someone close to the family. Then he looked up Everything about him looked dangerously calm- the effortless expression on his face like he belonged there already. "Hey" he said with a slight wave She could only mutter a simple "hello" Because she was already lost in her imaginations- She stared at him not sure why her heart is racing so fast. "David? David?" She called her brother "He is not at home" "my name is Ethan" "I am David's friend" and you must be Isabella? David's younger sister?" His voice was it all- warm, deep, smooth and sound unfairly attractive. Her voice was barely a whisper when she answered "yes I am"- almost immediately David walked in "hello sis, you are back?" What do you think about the environment?" David asked she couldn't help but smile at how lucky she is to have him, "It's nice and cool here I love it" Isabella responded David smiled back and sat down, that was when he eventually noticed Ethan- "You're here bro?" He asked obviously surprised and happy. "Yeah, you love your sister so much that you couldn't notice me. Ethan said in between laughter. "Sure man" You know she is the only sibling I got and she is hardly home all her life. They engaged in a conversation- Ethan interacted with David like they have known each other forever, laughing quietly in between conversations, he was completely comfortable in our house like it was his own- The conversations was light so Isabella got involved in some then David made a joke and Everyone laughed but Ethan" his laughter was not loud, not dramatic, just this quiet relaxed laugh that matched his whole vibe. Isabella was fighting with her heartbeat- she could even hear them pounding in her chest immediately she decided to go into her room but struggled because a part of her was already drawn to Ethan and the entire vibe in the room- She wanted to stay close to him. Pink and white filled the space like a gentle mood- her room is soft and girly, A fluffy bed covered in pillows and teddy bears sat under gently fairly lights. Everything felt cozy, cute and very personal like her own little world. Isabella was on her phone going through her social media account when she came across a familiar photo, She wasn't sure but her curiosity was stronger- She clicked it, the image opened fully and her breath caught up a little. It was him "Ethan", Her heart was racing and she instantly knew one thing she is slowly falling for him. Then the thoughts came "Should I send him a message request?" Would he accept?" What would we talk about?" What should I do?" Isabella muttered to herself. She gathered the courage and sent him "hello" a bit scared of what might happen But what she was feeling was stronger than her uncertainty. Moments later a messaged popped up on her screen- "Hey how are u doing today" Isabella held her phone tightly not believing whom the message came from. "he replied" She said mist joy and a feeling she can't quite explain. "I am doing good" I bumped into your profile while scrolling on my phone and decided to text" Isabella replied "Really" " I have been wanting to speak with you for a while now and I have something to tell you" he replied almost immediately. "Okay go on" she replied nervously It took him a while to reply, as if he was hesitating over every word. Then, after what felt like forever, his message finally came through. “Never mind.” The message was short and simple but it landed in a way that made her confused, hoping and guessing- maybe he had feelings for her and wanted to confess. Isabella blinked at the thought that popped into her head and a smile crept up her face. THE JOKE THAT STARED EVERYTHING Isabella adjusted her hoodie slightly as she crossed the road carefully Lost in thought while admiring the beauty of the city when suddenly her phone began ringing loudly in her pocket. Her brother's name flashed on the screen- A small smile appeared immediately as she answered it. "Hello" But instead of her brother's voice, a deep familiar voice spoke urgently. "Isabella" the voice at the other end called panic filled in his tone Her steps slowed instantly "Yes... who is this?" she asked anxiously "It's me Ethan" "David collapsed suddenly" "He is Conscious now but is running a high fever" Ethan said Everything around her suddenly felt distant- Chills ran through her spine, the cold evening air could not calm the panic rising inside her chest as she flagged down a cab her knees bouncing impatiently the entire ride. David collapsed The words kept echoing over and over again When the car finally stopped at the front of their apartment building, she barely waited for the driver to finish speaking before hurrying out. Her heartbeat pounded rapidly as she walked into David's room. "Big brother, How are you feeling now?" she asked as she walked up and sat close to David at his bed side. "I am feeling better now, Just still having a slight headache" David responded weakly "Okay rest well" Isabella spoke she calms her nerve seeing that her brother is much better. That was when David took a closer look at Isabella "You are sweating so much" David spoke "I had to rush down here immediately Ethan called" Isabella answered honestly "Oh wow, You actually care about me that much" He spoke with that annoying teasing smile she knew too well. “You’re burning with fever and still have the energy to tease me?” she said, shaking her head lightly. “Maybe you’re not as sick as Ethan made it sound.” "My little sister ran over here because of me" He said with that same smile. "I ran over because I wanted to see how you die" Isabella spoke with a slight laughter Ethan chuckled quietly, shaking his head as he watched the two of them. “Yeah, sure,” he said. “The way you nearly broke the door trying to get in here definitely screamed I hope he dies.” Isabella shot him a glare immediately while David laughed weakly from the bed. “You two are unbelievable,” she muttered, though the small smile on her face gave her away completely. "I will be in my room" Isabella said as she stood up to leave "Prepare instant noodles for us to eat" David said Isabella groaned bitterly as she turned and glared hard at David but she had no choice but to walk into the kitchen and make it quick. "Bro the way you relate with your sister is actually cute" Ethan spoke immediately Isabella was out of sight " You can say that again, She is one of a kind, I am lucky to have her" David spoke with a smile that anyone can notice how much he love his sister. "I'm getting jealous right now" Ethan jokingly said David couldn't help but burst into laughter But then still smiling he said something that made the entire room suddenly fall silent "So..." glanced at the door then back to Ethan "You would like to marry my sister right? he teased him trying to control his laughter. He didn't notice it- the air shifted and Ethan's smile faded for a brief second but long enough to review emotions he had spent years to bury At the door front Isabella froze- she was about opening the door when she heard those words, the feelings stared up again.
