Chapter 17: No Way Back The doors burst open. Armed men poured into the room, guns raised. Lola and Ugo dived for cover as bullets shredded through Odukoya’s luxurious office. Lola’s mind was razor-sharp. They had killed the king, but the kingdom was still fighting. "We have to get out!" Ugo shouted, pressing a hand to his bleeding side. Lola reloaded. "Not until we finish this." She spotted a grenade on one of Odukoya’s dead bodyguards. A plan formed instantly. She grabbed it, pulled the pin, and hurled it toward the doorway. BOOM! The explosion shook the mansion. Dust. Smoke. Screams. The chaos gave them their opening. Lola rushed forward, shooting through the smoke. One. Two. Three men dropped. Ugo followed, limping but still fighting. They pushed through the wreckage, down the stairs, past more fallen guards. Outside, sirens wailed. The police? Or more of Odukoya’s men? It didn’t matter. Lola and Ugo ran. Bullets whizzed past them as they sprinted toward the compound’s rear gate. A black SUV roared toward them. More enemies? No. The driver’s side window rolled down—it was Dapo. Lola’s contact in the force. "Get in!" he yelled. Lola and Ugo dived into the backseat as Dapo sped off. Behind them, Odukoya’s empire was burning. But it wasn’t over yet. --- Epilogue: A New War Two days later. Lola stood on a balcony, watching Lagos breathe. Odukoya was dead. Black Shield was crumbling. But corruption? Corruption never died. Ugo stepped beside her. "They’ll come after us, you know." Lola nodded. She had started a war. But she wasn’t afraid. She turned to Ugo, eyes cold, determined. "Then let them come."
