Chapter 16: The Final Hunt
Lola sat on the hood of an abandoned car, staring at the dark waters of the Lagos Lagoon.
Felix Idowu was dead.
But the real monster still breathed.
Odukoya.
Behind her, Ugo loaded a magazine into his pistol. "This is suicide, you know."
Lola nodded, tightening the strap on her bulletproof vest. "I know."
Odukoya’s safe house in Ikoyi was a fortress. High walls, armed men, security cameras—designed to keep people out and secrets in.
But Lola wasn’t just people.
She was vengeance.
"We don’t need to take out his entire security team," she said, checking her silencer. "Just Odukoya. We cut off the head, the body crumbles."
Ugo sighed. "And if we don’t make it out?"
Lola met his gaze.
"Then we make sure Odukoya doesn’t either."

Infiltration
2:37 AM.
Lola and Ugo crouched in the shadows outside Odukoya’s compound. The mansion overlooked the lagoon, its massive structure a testament to stolen power.
Guards patrolled the perimeter, armed and alert.
Lola signaled to Ugo. "We go in quiet. No gunfire unless necessary."
They scaled the rear wall, slipping past the first set of cameras.
A guard stood near the side entrance, smoking. Lola crept up behind him, knife in hand—one quick slice. He dropped silently.
They moved forward.
Inside, the hallways were dimly lit. Security was tight, but predictable.
They were ghosts.
Until—
An alarm blared.
They’d been spotted.
"Go!" Lola hissed.
---
The Last Stand
Gunfire erupted.
Lola and Ugo raced up the grand staircase, dodging bullets.
Two men blocked the hallway—Lola fired first, dropping them both.
They kicked open the master bedroom door.
Odukoya was waiting.
He sat behind a massive desk, his bodyguards at his side.
"Detective Ajibade." He smirked. "I knew you’d come."
Lola didn’t waste time. She fired—hitting one of the guards in the head.
Ugo took down the second.
Now, only Odukoya remained.
"You think killing me will change anything?" he sneered. "I own this country. I own your police force. You’re nothing, girl."
Lola pressed her gun to his forehead.
"Not anymore."
She pulled the trigger.
Odukoya’s body slumped over his desk.
It was over.
Or so she thought.
Behind her, footsteps. More guards.
Too many.
Lola glanced at Ugo. He was bleeding. Badly.
No way out.
She took a deep breath. "We fight."
And the doors burst open.
