Chapter 14: Fire in the Dark Lola’s finger squeezed the trigger. The silenced bullet ripped through the night—hitting Felix Idowu square in the shoulder. He staggered back, cursing loudly, his hand flying to the wound. His men reacted instantly. "Sniper! Get down!" one of them shouted. Gunfire erupted. Lola didn’t wait. She moved. Still hidden in the shadows of the dock, she shifted positions, taking another shot—one man dropped. Ugo, crouched behind a shipping container, fired at the convoy, shattering windshields and forcing Felix’s men into cover. "We need to get closer!" Ugo yelled over the chaos. Lola nodded and signaled for him to move left while she flanked right. Felix, despite his injury, was barking orders. "Find them! Kill them both!" His men spread out, flashlights sweeping through the darkness. Lola’s heartbeat was steady. Focused. She crept along the edge of a rusted container, spotted two men moving toward Ugo’s position. She fired. One down. The other spun—too late. A second bullet hit his chest. Ugo took out another. The numbers were thinning, but they were still outgunned. Then—Lola spotted Felix, limping toward one of the SUVs. He was trying to escape. Not tonight. She sprinted from cover, dodging gunfire, closing the distance between them. Felix turned, his gun aimed right at her— Lola dove, rolled, and fired mid-motion. The bullet hit Felix in the leg. He collapsed, screaming. Lola was on him in seconds, gun pressed against his forehead. His men saw it. They froze. The battle was over. Felix Idowu was hers.
