Killian drove into the expensive compound confident that his mission was worth the expenses in time, money and energy. He circled the driveway which was lined on both sides with well trimmed lush Oleander whose mixture of red, pink and white flowers added color to the architectural masterpiece that was the home of the host. At the parking lot,he pulled his dark model Lambo to a stop and alighted. Instantaneously,he was greeted by a fierce-looking, large, grey, Asiatic dog which swaggered defiantly up to him and sniffed round the car. Satisfied, the dog let out a loud,long-drawn growl of a greeting and sauntered away.
Killian put his left hand in his trousers' pocket while his bunch of keys dangled from his right hand,as he marched with measured steps, his forehead, silvery hairs and dark Italian three piece suite sparkling under the receding rays of the evening sun. Standing at the entrance into the main building,he pressed a botton on the wall above his head and the aluminum door glided to one side, propelled by a remote control mechanism. As a Messenger in uniform approached him,he flashed a green executive visitor's tally which he had been given a week earlier when he called to negotiate with his host. The tally would facilitate his undisturbed entry into the compound any time he had appointment.
He was ushered into an exquisitely furnished, soundproof apartment where private businesses were discussed. Presently,a well fed,dark-complexioned,huge mountain of a man, apparently in his mid-fifties,emerged with swaggering gait,a knowing smile playing on his lips, forming contours on his fleshy chins.
“Hello Kill!“ The man bellowed in a voice that reverberated in the small apartment.
“Good evening boss”, Killian greeted cutely, his about thirty year-old blue eye balls rolling in their sockets.
“Welcome. I guess you've made up your mind”, the huge mountain said,as he lowered his frame in an ottoman.
“U-h-m. O yes the devil deserves a special gift from a special friend. And I will deliver it,” Killian responded;a tinge of sarcasm nestling on his voice, his crossed legs dancing to an imaginary music from his heart.
“two million ”, Killian wanted to confirm.
“Yes, two million dollar cash. No cheque”. Came the reminder in a calm, soft, musical voice.
Killian looked up and down simultaneously and wrung his fingers. He swallowed hard before letting out a surge of air through his nostrils while his eyelid twinkled several times. Sitting up in his seat,he said softly,”alright,I have it. In the car”. He uttered the last phrase shrilly.
“You are a man. As I told you the other day,my experience has taught me never to trust any human animals. If you do not act now, your friend will get you when he finally discovers you harbour ill-feelings towards him for marrying that lady. Remember, there's no way you can hide your feelings forever. Can I fix the thing?“ The owner of the house asked, stroking his very long, dark and shinny moustache.
“Do please. Can I go for the money now?“ Killian put in.
“No,you pay after receiving the package”. The man-moumtain advice and left for another apartment.
Alone and sprawling on the sofa, Killian became lost in deep thought. “Why on earth could Judas be so imprudent to snatch my girlfriend to whom I intended getting married? Thinking that I'm a fool,he even invited me to be his best man. Perhaps,he also thinks that I'm a dog without fangs. Did I make any mistake sharing my flat with him. Worse,he appears to have forgotten that I helped made him fuckin richer than he was before. I had to introduce him to my business, all in the spirit of friendship and brotherhood. I wonder if he realizes that I am largely responsible for the success of his business.
“Well…well…well…” his thoughts trailed off as he sat up with a start to behold his host who had just reappeared and was resuming his place in the ottoman.
“Now my friend, pay attention”. The man said,in a soft commanding voice.
“Okay”, Killian gave in.
Holding a small brown envelope up to Killian's face, the amn began giving his lectures without clearing his throat.
“This parcel must be handled very carefully. I repeat, very carefully. The right hand side top of the envelop contains a network of very delicate wiring, including a tiny pin. That part of the envelop must not be pressed by any degree unless,of course, you want to end your own life. Again, the thing is timed to go off exactly twelve midnight a day after the wedding when, according to you,the couple will most likely be alone in their bedroom”.
The man finished talking and Killian nodded approval, collected the envelop and both stood up to shake hands.

Killian had introduced the love of his life, Bella to his best friend Judas, with a proud feeling of trust and friendship and because he felt that his very good friend deserves to know the new owner of his heart. Killian had lived a heartbroken and devastated life for months after the unpleasant death of Benita, his first love. However, after many unending advices and persuasions from his friends and business associates, he had decided to let the dead rest and move on with life, and fortunately like a coincidence he had found someone and his heart totally accepted her. He found Bella,a beautifully made girl of about 23 years working as a waitress in an expensive cafeteria, where he often visit during his leisure hours. He requested for her contact, which she did not decline and the rest was history. Both fell in love and she did help heal his wound. He had planned to propose to her on Valentine's day, which coincided with his birthday when fate twisted.
On a Sunday Eve. The sun was getting tired of it's toil and was preparing to retire for the day. The temperate environment's arms were wide open to welcome the cool fresh breeze which quietly swept pass an amazing mansion that was outlandishly upholstered. It's gold designs and decorations were breathtaking and smelled affluence. There was a crystal clear unperturbed swimming pool reflecting at one side of it,the faces of two men sitting comfortably before a table enjoying the fruit of their labours. Both were both successful business men worth more than two billion dollars. A wine, three expensive iphones and two glistening glasses stood rooted to the glass table in-between them. Judas held a cigarette with his left fingers and with a crossed leg. He impeccably drew the cigarette onto the grasp of his lips, took a draw of it and pulled it away, puffing out smoke up in the air like a magician. Killian, the owner of the mansion was simply glued to his phone. A habit of his whenever there was a good contract at hand.
They were both enjoying the serene atmosphere when suddenly, one of the phones on the table began singing a tune. Both were distracted, but Killian was the first to respond. He stretched out his left arm towards it, grabbed it and looked into the screen. A sudden smile lit on his face. Judas who noticed it turned his attention back to his cigarette feighing indifference but with a highly sensitive ear listened quietly to his friend's phone conversation, throwing curious glances on each occasion.
“Her majesty”. Killian paused for a second to hear from the other end, a smile playing on his pink lips.
“ Sundays belong to my humble self, her majesty”. A pause…
“Do you need my permission to come see me? Please do, I can't wait to see you.“ It was followed by a grin before a reply came again.
“Please don't forget to double your purchases. I have company here, bye”.
He carefully flung his phone back to the table, grabbed his glass, took a sip of his wine and leaned back to his well polished seat with visible traces of grins on his face. He sensed his friend was staring at his unbelievable euphoric gestures, probably wondering 'what on Earth would f**king make his friend this happy'.
“What are you looking at?“ Killian snapped, his expression now haughty.
“ Tell me something Killian,or you'll watch me become the legendary cat who died out of curiosity.“
“ Damn you!!“ Killian cracked in laughter, placing his hand on his head. Judas only joined in the laughter.
“She must've been a very lucky thief”.
Judas's voice came out again, being the first to surpress his laughter.
“ Don't worry, you'll get to see the lucky thief in a few moment. Cheers”
Both held their glasses a little above their shoulders and then sipped simultaneously from it.
“By the way, what about Lucy, your heartbrob?“
Killian asked, being the first to drop his glass back to the table.
“She's on vacation with her parents. She'll probably be back in a week time.“ Judas responded.
