"Oh my god, I'm so sorry!" Closing the door quickly, I plant my back against the wall.
I can't believe what I had just walked into. I didn't know this was allowed, and if it was I wasn't going to be listening to it every night. And even then, roommate or not I refuse to allow random guys in here like that.
After a couple of minutes, two guys buttoning either their shirt or pants stepped out into the hall with a smirk on their faces. I gulp. They weren't bad looking, but in my opinion, they looked better clothed. What I just witnessed wasn't exactly what I had in mind on my first day.
I still have yet to read over the packet.
The door opened for the second time, and a black-haired girl stared at me with her brown eyes. Her dark complected skin was left bare where the tank top didn't cover. "I'm so sorry you had to see that. Come in."
She stepped back, allowing me in - standing in her underwear. I noticed the empty bed across from hers and set the suitcases down, flopping down on the surprisingly comfy twin mattress. I look around, balancing the differences of my naked plain colored wall, against her gray gloom side -- featuring; hung posters, pictures of her dog, laptop, books on a bookshelf, two plants, and a nice little bed set of pumpkins and Jack the skeleton.
"So you're my roomie?" The girl asked.
"I guess I am," I mumble, grabbing the packet.
"Reading that?"
"Yeah why."
"Oh boy...look rules are easy. No sneaking out past curfew which is nine-thirty; have to be in rooms by ten-twenty no later, no animals are allowed, no dating, no smoking or drinking, drugs of choice included...-"
"That's a lot of rules," I mumble.
"I know. Right? Anyhow there's more but just follow those and you should be good." She got dressed, pulling her hair into a sloppy ponytail. "I can show you around."
"I don't even know your name."
"Lilian."
"Brielle." I smile before getting to my feet. "Sorry I walked in on you earlier."
"You're good." Lilian headed out, me following behind her.
"I thought dating wasn't allowed?"
Lilian gave me a weird look with an arched brow before laughing. "Hell Nah. Just my flings. Oh and I already know what your gonna ask. Boys and girls can come to each other's dorms during the day. At night it's a no-go."
"Ohh. Makes sense."
We walked in silence for a bit, people stared but I wasn't aware of why. Either cause I was fresh meat, or this Lilian girl had a bad reputation and I was playing in the lion's den. The feeling was new, I felt a strange burst of confidence next to this girl, and why? I don't know.
All I knew was to listen to the rules and learn my way around the building. My classes start tomorrow. Luckily, the new student orientation is to get adjusted and used to the new atmosphere. I scanned the area, looking at some of the lockers which I was guessing were for students who wanted to keep their valuables stored and locked in a nice locked area. In their case. Lockers.
Which could easily be busted into.
Walking into the cafeteria for an early dinner, Lilian strides along towards the salad bar, and for now, I had no other choice but to follow her. Me being fresh meat in the crowd? Perhaps I was too soft. Too genuine. My eyes scanned the crowded tables, my eyes met one guy in particular. His dark hair was cleanly cut; his dark eyes and honey-like skin - but not once had his eyes met mine.
I had to admit he was handsome, but my only goal was to graduate and go to college. After college, pursue my own company for Publishing. It wasn't going to be an easy thing to do, but for now, I think I could manage. I felt a few cold grazes on my back, but I hadn't cared much for a second.
Collecting my share of salad, I convinced her to walk me over to where the pizza and lasagna were. I grabbed myself two slices of pizza and one slice of cheesy goodness. I felt a tap on the back of my shoulder, sending the instinct of turning my head.
I stood inches away from a tall, not fat nor skinny, brunette-haired girl. "Excuse me." She bantered.
"May I help you?" I questioned sassily.
"If I ever catch you looking at my boyfriend again, you will regret it. You hear me?"
"Why would a guy like that date a guinea pig like you? You're hairy!" I snorted, glancing over with an unimpressed Lilian.
"You bitch." She reached for my hair only for Lilian to grab her wrist.
"Touch her and I'll skin you." She warned, shoving her back with a simple let go of her wrist.
The brunette huffed and stormed off, holding her 'poor' hand close to her chest. I watched in amusement. I hadn't meant to come off the way I did, but I don't give respect if someone doesn't earn it. If you're disrespectful, yeah I'm gonna be it in return.
"Who was that?"
"Alexandria. Schools top b***h. But really, eyeing Andrew? He's trouble. And you'll make some pretty bad enemies here." Liliana stated.
I nodded in agreeance. But I wasn't exactly eyeing him, I was taking in his character, his possible personality, and traits. He looked bored over in the stature of the group he was in with. Either he was bored or had no interest in the girls around him. Andrew probably wanted to hang with his guy's friends, but that girl Alexandria was stopping him.
Were they really dating though?
Who knows.

After the endless time unpacking, I sat down and ate before a good nighttime routine. I had to admit, staying here was better than being back home. I could live here, but the twins were my main worry. But I knew deep down, that eventually, I would have to trust my father again.
It was hard though.
Snuggling under the covers, I grabbed my phone and sent my father a goodnight message. But then Lilian sat on her bed, taking a book and reading it over. Silently.
"Can we talk about something?"
"Sure." She smiled, turning the page of her book.
"Can we try no more in and outs? At least with me being here?"
"What do you mean Elli?"
"No guys you know, coming in and out when I'm here?"
"Of course." Her eyes remained in the book, and in place, I heard her little whispers of the words she was reading.
Looking down on my phone, I went to the school's main blog sight, and already that girl was causing drama for me.

' Don't you love when girls stare down your man? Classic right? Well, this new girl, Brielle I guess is her name, was doing exactly that, then guess what...SHE LUNGED AT ME!!! Keep your boyfriends away, and keep your distance from this virus.'

Wow. I wasn't after anyone's man. I was just glancing at a naturally handsome guy. Maybe it's time I comment and put my foot down on where I stand, but that wouldn't do the trick. Definitely wouldn't earn me many points, besides I had already made an enemy for a dumb reason. Why give her more of a reason by commenting on her false accusations?
Had to be false. I mean I was staring him down but I wasn't interested in anything. Maybe friends, but in no way would I be a homewrecker. Glancing down once more at the blog post, I watch as the screen took its sleep when it faded to black.
Even classy of her to have added my i********: tag. How smart was she? Well not all too smart nor classy. Sighing I run my finger across the back of the phone case, before plugging it in for the night.
Just like us humans, phones need a break from our constant rings of torture. Our battle against the screen with our thumbs. Especially games giving our phones exhaustion without a simple break to cool down.
Sound familiar?
When we get exhausted we can cool down and take a break, yet we won't allow our phones to. What kind of people are we if we're not letting our whole life take its break?
Everyone deserves a break. Even the people we despise the most in life work their tails off. This leads me to why we have a tailbone, but no tail. My eyes closed, losing the battle of being awake. The heavy milk way took over and engorged me into sleep.
A good night's rest is what it was. It was more than just a single sleep. It was where dreams came alive.
