The car stopped at a luxury mansion; it was not as big as the Sylvester mansion, but it looked more stylish. A young man in a tuxedo opened the car door for Victoria and welcomed her, ‘Welcome to Edrick Sylvester mansion, ma.’ Edrick got out too, and they both went inside the house. An elderly woman in her late fifties came to welcome them. ‘Welcome home, sir and ma’am,’ Edrick didn’t respond but went straight to his study room.” “Let me take you to your room Madam Victoria,” the elderly woman said, Victoria followed her. When she entered her room, she was stunned at how beautiful and big the room was. The room was bigger than her apartment. “Here we are. If you need anything, let me know,” the woman said and was about to leave, but Victoria stopped her. “Wait! What’s your name? And where is Edrick?” “You can call me Selina, and Mr. Edrick is in his study. I think you should know that his room is next to yours.” “Oh alright, thank you, Selina,” she said with a smile. Victoria fell onto the bed when Selina left. She loved how soft it was, just what she liked. She sighed and let out a breath. “Finally, I can have a good sleep and forget reality for once,” she murmured. Those were her last words before she fell into a deep sleep. Victoria was woken up by a knock on her door. She yawned and shielded her eyes from the light coming through the windows. The knocking continued, and she could hear a woman’s voice as she slowly regained consciousness.” “Come in,” she said, still yawning. “Good morning, Madam Victoria,” Selina said, smiling at her. Victoria went through her usual routine of yawning and moaning upon waking up until finally, she was fully awake. “Good morning, Selina,” Victoria greeted. “Did you sleep well?” Selina asked “Oh, yes, I did.” “ I came to tell you that breakfast is ready” “Alright, I will go and freshen up right now, thank you” Selina nodded and left the room. Victoria rushed into the bathroom immediately and in a few minutes she was out, she opened the walk-in closet and was amazed by the sight in front of her. The closet was screaming luxury, there were a lot of beautiful dresses, shoes, and every other thing that a woman should have in her closet. She picked a simple dress that still looked a bit stylish, packed her hair up in a ponytail put on beautiful small earrings, and went out of her room. On her way to the dining, she heard Edrick talking to a familiar voice, on getting there she met Edrick and his mother Elizabeth chatting at the dining, she was surprised to see her so early in the morning, Victoria walked towards them and greeted them. “Good morning ma'am,” she said with a smile “Good morning, my dear. Please, call me Mother or Elizabeth, okay? You are my daughter-in-law, and Edrick will be your husband soon. There’s no need to be formal when talking to me; we are family, dear,” Elizabeth said with a smile. Victoria responded with a smile and took her seat at the dining table, serving herself breakfast. Edrick, on the other hand, hadn’t made eye contact with Victoria since she arrived in the dining room. Instead, he had been focusing on the newspaper in his hand. “You will be going out with my mother today to pick your wedding dress,” he said, dropping the newspaper on the table and leaving the dining room. Victoria looked at him as he stood up and left, wondering what kind of man he was.” A few hours after breakfast, Victoria and Edrick’s mother left the house. The ride to the fashion house was a stark contrast to the silent drive with Edrick, his mother Elizabeth was a lively and fun person to be with. Victoria was already fond of her, they shared similarities and Elizabeth treated her like her own daughter. This made Victoria wonder if her mother had been similarly kind-hearted. Victoria was an orphan who grew up in an orphanage, so she had never known her parents. “Ta-da, we have arrived! This designer is one of the best to have ever lived on the face of the earth,” Mrs. Elizabeth exclaimed dramatically, causing Victoria to laugh out loud. They exited the car and entered the fashion house. Inside, Victoria couldn’t help but admire the beautiful interior decoration, everything about it spoke of luxury and elegance. They were greeted by a lady in a stylish suit that looked perfectly on her, Victoria couldn’t help but admire it too. “Welcome, Madam Elizabeth,” the lady greeted Elizabeth and gave her a peck on both cheeks. “How are you, Ella? Is the gown ready?” Mrs. Elizabeth said cheerfully. “Yes, and I am very sure you and the bride will love it. Is she the bride?” Ella said, greeting Victoria the same way she greeted Elizabeth. “Yes, she is. Our soon-to-be Mrs. Edrick Sylvester! And you know Edrick, my son, wants only the best.” “Sure, and that’s what you will get. Come with me,” Ella said. Ella took them to the elevator and pressed the button for the third floor. When they arrived, she led them to a walk-in closet filled with wedding gowns that looked alike. “Please take your seat. Susan will be here in a minute. I worked on this gown myself since you placed your order, so I do hope you like it because I love it,” Ella said excitedly. “I hope Victoria likes it because it’s all about her,” Elizabeth said, giving Victoria a motherly smile. A minute later, Susan arrived with a mannequin wearing a wedding gown. When she removed the covering, Victoria and Elizabeth gasped simultaneously. It was a beautiful sight to behold. The gown was an off-shoulder, V-neck white ball gown adorned with silver drawings—it was nothing short of magnificent. There was a silver crown on the head of the mannequin that matched the gown perfectly. “So? Do you like it?” Ella asked. “No, I love it! It’s so beautiful, like my dream wedding gown,” Victoria blurted out, with a tear in her eye. “That’s very pleasant to hear. I worked on this myself day and night, putting in my best effort. Now, it’s time to try it on. Go into the dressing room and rock the gown!” Ella said, excited and relieved. Victoria and Susan headed to the dressing room with the gown, and they both emerged a minute later. Everyone present gasped at the sight of her. Elizabeth teared up upon seeing Victoria, she hugged her and gave her a peck on the cheek. “You look beautiful, Victoria,” Elizabeth said, tears of joy rolling down her cheeks. “Thank you so much, Mrs. Sylvester,” Victoria replied, tearing up herself. “Okay, enough of the emotional drama. Is there anything you don’t like that you would want me to adjust?” “No, it’s perfect.” “Are you sure?” “Yes.” “Okay then, that will be all.” After changing out of the gown, Victoria waited for Mrs. Sylvester to finish her discussion with Ella. When they were done, they headed to Edrick’s mansion. Inside, they met Edrick, who had just finished a phone call in the sitting room. “Oh son, I’m glad you’re here. You needed to see how your bride looked so magnificent in her wedding gown! You both will look good together,” Elizabeth said as soon as they entered the sitting room. “Mum, I think you’ve done a lot today. I’ll call James to take you home now,” Edrick said a few minutes later. “Alright then, I’ll leave you two lovebirds alone, okay?” she said, giving her son a peck on his cheek and doing the same to Victoria as James, her bodyguard, came to take her home. Victoria was heading to her room after Elizabeth left but was stopped by Edrick. “Where are you going?” Edrick asked. “I am going to my room.” “How was it? I heard you looked magnificent,” he said sarcastically, air-quoting ‘magnificent’. This upset Victoria, as she felt he was mocking her. She nodded her head, attempting to avoid an argument. "I cannot have this conversation with you, Mr. Edrick. I'm weary, and I have to work tomorrow. "I apologize," she replied, turning to leave. However, she was astounded by what Edrick did next.
