Blurb

Raised in Dark Moon Park as the Beta’s daughter, her heart had always belonged to one man: her childhood friend, Alex Williams. She grew up certain that fate would reward loyalty. Instead, it broke her.

When the bond she waited for never came, Zendaya ran from her pack, from her past, and from a Moon Goddess she no longer trusted.

She never expected fate to follow her.

Zane Evans is an Alpha forged in blood and violence. He does not believe in love. He does not believe in mates. With too many deaths on his hands, he is certain the Moon Goddess has long abandoned him.

Forced into a gathering he never wanted to attend, Zane crosses paths with a woman who smells like destiny and danger.

She is wounded.

He is ruthless.

Neither of them believes in second chances.

But the Moon Goddess does.

What begins in heartbreak ignites into something dark, forbidden, and uncontrollable, where desire burns hotter than trust, and love may be the most dangerous thing of all.

Chapter one
Chapter 1: Shattered Promises Zendaya Schmidt had always believed in one thing above all: that love could be trusted. That some people were destined to be with one another, through thick and thin. For her, that person had been Alex Williams. Her childhood friend. The boy she had grown up running with across the sprawling meadows of Darkmoon Park, building forts in the shadows of its dense forests, sharing secrets under the pale glow of the moon. They had gone to school together, kindergarten through high school, and every moment had been a thread weaving their hearts closer together. Every laugh, every tear, every scraped knee patched by his gentle hands had cemented in her mind the unshakable certainty: Alex was hers. Zendaya walked towards the pack house with hope in her heart that the moon goddess would answer her prayer and she would find her mate. As fate would have it, the moment she stepped into the pack house, she was hit with one of the most irresistible scents she had ever smelt. zendaya allowed her nose to the first floor of the pack house. This floor housed guest rooms for visitors. She was momentarily confused; she had expected Alex to be her mate. The scent should have led her to the third floor, where the Alpha family lived, but she trusted the moon goddess, and she proceeded to where her nose led her. Once she reached the door where she assumed her mate was staying, she knocked on the door. There was no answer, she knocked again, and someone opened the door; she walked in gracefully. Confusion and shock hit at once; her world had crumbled. There they were. Alex and Chloe Stone. Together. Laughter that was meant to be theirs alone, stolen by someone else. Chloe, with her perfect, calculated smile, the friend who had always worn a mask of sweetness while harboring envy and malice, now draped over Alex in a familiarity Zendaya thought was reserved for her alone. And Alex… Alex, the boy she had trusted with every heartbeat, every secret, every silent plea to the Moon Goddess, had done nothing. Had said nothing. He simply… existed there, letting her see it. Her chest ached with betrayal, every breath sharp as shards of ice. But Zendaya had learned early that tears were a luxury she could not afford, not in the presence of those who could wound her further. Her father, Beta Harry Schmidt, had taught her the strength of holding your own, of facing adversity without crumbling. And her mother, Peris Schmidt, had taught her the grace of hiding pain beneath calm composure. So Zendaya swallowed the hurt that threatened to consume her, locked it behind the door of her chest, and stepped forward. What are you doing? Her voice was measured, cold, yet trembling slightly despite her control. I thought… I thought you cared for me. Couldn’t you have waited? At least until we confirmed, until we even knew we were fated? Alex’s face shifted through shock, guilt, and… confusion. To him, their bond had never meant the same as it had to her. He had only ever seen her as a sister, a friend, someone untouchable. And yet fate had twisted their threads together in ways neither of them had anticipated. He opened his mouth to speak, but words faltered, tangled in the weight of inevitability. It took him a moment to collect himself before speaking. He wanted to explain the whole situation, but thought it was pointless. So he decided that they were not meant to be; his heart was only reserved for Chloe. He had made up his Mind along time ago that he loved her, and she would be his chosen mate. I, Alex William, future Alpha of the Dark Moon pack, reject you, Zendaya Schmidt, as my mate. I… Zendaya Schnidt accepts your rejection as your mate. She turned away, letting the cool air of the hallway wash over her, masking the burning of her chest. She could feel the sting of tears pressing against her eyelids, but she refused to let them fall. Not here. Not now. Once safely inside her room, she locked the door, letting the sobs break free in the privacy of her sanctuary. Two days passed like this. Sleeping, crying, sleeping again. Her body ached from grief, and her mind churned with the bitter taste of rejection. She prayed to the Moon Goddess, begging for numbness, a reprieve from the storm that Alex had left behind in her heart. But no answer came, and so she remained in the suffocating weight of her pain. By the third morning, something within her had shifted. She had spent enough time drowning in sorrow. Enough time letting Alex’s betrayal define her. She would not allow him, or anyone, to decide the course of her life. Her decision was clear: Alex was no longer hers. She would claim her own strength, her own destiny, and carve a path for herself away from the man who had broken her heart. And yet… even as she made that decision, the world had other plans. Rumors from neighboring parks whispered of change, of encounters that would shift destiny. Zendaya knew she could not remain confined to her grief forever. A masquerade party in a nearby park offered a distraction, a chance to escape, to breathe, to reset. She would attend, not for love, not for companionship, but for herself. For peace, for clarity, for a moment away from the shadows of betrayal. Little did she know that fate, cruel and relentless, had already begun weaving new threads around her heart. That very night, amidst the glittering masks and haunting music, the scent of something raw, something powerful, would reach her. Something that would make her tremble in ways Alex never had. Her heart, though shattered, had not yet known the storm that would redefine it. And soon, she would learn that betrayal was only the first step on the path to a love so consuming, so dark, and so dangerous that survival itself would become a challenge. The Moon Goddess had not abandoned her. Not yet. And in the shadows of Darkmoon Park, a new alpha stirred, one whose name would soon eclipse all pain, all betrayal, and all doubt. Zane Eva
