Invitation

414 Words
“WHAT are you doing?” Thorn said casually to his wife. It is almost five in the afternoon so he can leave his office soon.             “Hmmm…I’m just browsing the internet. Why? Are you going home soon?”             Thorn didn’t answer the question. “Did you cook?”             “No. Do you want me to cook? I am not good, but I can try. What do you want to eat?”                You. Thorn almost tempted to say the word. He felt frustrated as his throat suddenly went dry because he remembered what happened last night.             It was just a one night in the honeymoon suite. They were now back to reality. He went back to work today while Angela spent her day in his house. Her job is not a full-time one as a Foundation Head of Lopez Distillery so he knew she was just in his house the whole day. He also called the maids a lot of time to ask the welfare of his wife.             Thorn had a plan tonight. But he was tempted not to go. It seems good if he just went home after his work. He wants to taste the food Angela will make. Will it taste good just the way her body tastes? He wants to know.             But he tried to think of the plan---the invitation he received from his childhood friend, Resty. He didn’t attend his wedding because he had a prior engagement. To make up for his absence, he invited him for dinner in his house with his wife. He asked him to make sure that he’ll bring his new wife. It is also the reason why he called Angela.             “Thorn?”             He cleared his throat. “I’m sorry. But just bother to cook next time. I will pick you up today. I have an invitation from a friend for dinner. You’ll come with me.”             Angela didn’t speak. “Angela? Is it okay? As my wife, your duty is to accompany me on dinners and parties. Isa pa, the purpose of this party is for my friends to get to know you…”             “O-of course,” He heard him cleared her throat. “What should I wear? Is it a formal dinner?”             “Just anything decent. Be ready before six. I’m almost on my way.” He said and dropped the call.
