Chapter Five

**Scarlett's POV*
"How do you want to play this?" He asked her making her look up at him. She sighed softly and looked back to the house keeping quiet for a moment to think. "He won't come easy."
"That's okay. I don't like easy. You take the front draw him to me in the back?" She spoke up taking her gloves off and stuffing them in her pocket so she could draw her gun from her hip. Looking up at him with it more as a questions she studied his jaw line as it shifted into a smile. It was amazing, but she quickly shook away the thoughts and looked away.
"Lead the way detective..." He spoke in such a mocking yet demanding voice it made chills run down her back, but she quickly pushed it away as the cold. Nodding she started for the house. Once they got withing hearing distance she crouched down walking around the side of the house with the gun in front of her. She looked up only to look into the living room and looked up at him.
"I'm going around back. They are in the living room." She whispered not sure how well he'd be able to hear her, but he managed to Nod and started for the front door. She slipped around back holding her position beside the back door with her gun at the ready listening for a knock on the door.
"Hello I am Agent Luther. I am here to talk to a Jose Ramirez in regards to the Stacy Longdale murder." She could hear Agent Luther's muffled, gruff voice in the front door then it was chaos. Someone called out for Jose to run. They toppled over one another and just as she expected he came out the back door at full speed not even noticing her.
"Hands up! Don't even think about it or I will shoot!" Scarlett yelled at him her finger already hovering the trigger testing him. Jose gave her a glare tempting her. She could see his feet ready to move again, but she growled at him. "Don't make me take you down. I won't shoot to kill and trust me they will not see your side of the story. Do you want to tempt it?"
"Everything all right here?" Agent Luther asks coming out of the back door looking at the stand off.
"Yeah we are just fine." Scarlett said stashing her gun before walking behind Ramirez and cuffing him. "I guess you value your life more then you thought. Let's go."
"What about the rest of them?" Kai asked making her turn and look at him.
"I already texted Ricardo. He is bringing back up. They will be charged with obstruction to justice. I can assure you agent Luther, in my small town justice is always served." She replied pushing Jose forward to her car. Alec showed up just in time. She slammed her car door shut and replaced her gloves on her hands. She wouldn't deny she was freezing right about now.
"Nice work. I see you don't need me." Alec said looking up seeing Luther coming around the building with one of the boys from inside. "Agent Luther seems to be helping you just fine without me."
"Hey don't ever say that. You are my partner. I would never replace you." Scarlett took his shoulders and shook him with a smile. "Come one, let's get these assholes put away." She smiled slapping him on the shoulder before letting him walk off.
"Detective Ricardo." Kai nodded to Alec on the way by, they shared a look at to one another like animals. It was both primal and possessive likely over her. She couldn't understand why Kai would have such a look since she hated him for one, and two he barely knew her, but Alec. Alec she could see and knew why. He had loved her for over a year now. Since they became partners.
"Let's get this guy back to the office. I have a feeling he will not be as easy to c***k as his girlfriend." Scarlett said to Agent Luther walking around to the driver side of her car.
"I have a feeling we won't have much of an issue with me in the room." Kai replied handing the man off to one of the men standing there twiddling his thumbs. He walked over to his car and for a moment she watched him walk away. She sighed heavily and pulled her eyes away. She couldn't believe she was admiring him this way. It wasn't normal or right.
"Whatever you say Agent Luther." Scarlett mumbled and got into her car. Starting it up again she waited for it to warm up. Jose was in the back cussing up a storm calling her names in Spanish that she wouldn't admit to him she understood. Pulling off she let him go on the whole drive back to the office, but the moment she slammed her car door shut she tossed Luther the keys. "You can bring him inside or I will be on suspension."
"As you wish detective." Luther replied taking her keys. She felt his eyes on her as she walked inside trying to get her jackets and gloves off.
"Set up an interview room, and put that girl Erica in the room next door. I am going to see how much he loves his girlfriend. I have a feeling if we charge her with being an accessory to murder this man might just crack." Scarlett barked off the order to one of the police men in her office and walked into her office to get the files.
"Yes ma'am." He rushed off doing as she said but she was already slamming her door shut and hanging up her jackets. She heard Jose's cussing moments later and Luther handing him off to the officer she had spoken to before he came into her office.
"So his got a mouth on him, but I think he will be corporate. Are you ready?" He asked her holding open the door to her office. She rolled her eyes and grabbed the files walking past him.
"Don't get any ideas Luther. This is still my case." Scarlett scolded him and walked around the corner leaving him standing there laughing.
