"There. You're now fully healed." Sierra enthusiastically said as she sat on the stool beside my bed.
"Thank you so much. If it weren't for you and Silas, I would probably be dead by now." I bowed my head and gave her a small smile.
"Nonsense. By the looks of it, you're a very tough guy." Sierra chuckled and I just shook my head silently at her.
It's been two days since Silas found me outside of that cave and I couldn't be any more thankful to him and his wife.
He and his comrades were searching for survivors in the village that apparently got raided by Orcs and Goblins. They were unfortunate victims of those wild beasts.
The two of them willingly took me in and cared for me, especially Sierra.
As a seemingly advanced and natural-born Healer, Sierra is overly caring towards other people. She acts like a mother around me and I felt like a small sick child instead of a grown man who's been paralyzed.
But even though her healing powers are high-level, it took her two separate sessions to fully cure me out of my paralyzed state. Even she was baffled by my condition.
I couldn't tell her what happened in the cave yet, but I did hint that it was something drastic. Thankfully, both she and Silas didn't interrogate me further.
Either they trust me that easily or they're confident that they could handle me in case I suddenly act like a bad guy.
"Blair?" A small boy's head peeked through the door.
"Hey, Asmodai." I grinned at him as he walked towards me.
Over the last two days, the little orb has finally decided to take on a form after watching some children play outside through the window just beside my bed.
He was ecstatic to see them and he displayed so much interest. He said he wanted to play with them, so he combined the faces of the children that he's observing which led to the creation of his current body.
Just this morning, he was already running around with them outside.
He looks like an eight-year-old boy with blonde hair and violet eyes. He even changed his deep voice to sound more like a child. He was hesitant of the form at first, but kept it when Sierra told him that he's the most adorable thing in the world.
I decided to call him Asmodai since his name is way too long. He liked it and, for a moment, he looked and acted like a real child in joy.
The way he talks still hasn't changed whenever he's around us, but I heard him try to speak like a kid when he's with other children.
"How's your body?" I asked him as he walked towards us.
"I should be the one asking you that." He giggled. "By the way, Silas said that it's time for lunch."
"Good timing! Blair is now fully healed, so he could use some real food. Come on." Sierra gestured for me to get up. I slowly got out of bed and followed them to the dining area.
Their house is fairly small, with two separate bedrooms for the couple and for a guest. Judging by the interior, it's obvious that it was Sierra who designed the whole house since Silas looks so out-of-place in it.
He's bigger than me and his body is covered with long intimidating battle scars. He also always carries around this huge axe and wears his armor whenever he goes outside. He's quiet, serious, reserved but kind and respectable.
Sierra, on the other hand, is a small and cheerful lady. The way she looks, acts and speaks makes her seem like she's a princess of some sort.
They're total opposite of one another and yet they fit perfectly when they're together.
When we arrived at the kitchen, the table was already set and the food is waiting to be devoured.
Silas stood beside the table and I stopped myself from laughing at the frilly pink apron that he's wearing. It's way too small and he made it look like it belonged to a small child.
Surprisingly, Sierra couldn't cook anything no matter how hard she tries. Silas even said that she spent a full day trying to cook at least one edible food before completely giving up hope.
We sat around the table and I ate quietly as I observed Asmodai's reactions while eating. He looks so adorable as he ate, mostly because yesterday is the first time that he's ever eaten anything.
Doppelgangers don't require any kind of nutrition to live, but they do need to sleep and rest. They're also immune to any kind of poison that's why no matter what you feed them, it won't have any effect.
"So, Blair," My attention snapped towards Silas who suddenly spoke. "What do you plan to do after this?" He asked, clasping his hands together and putting them under his chin.
I thought for a moment before answering.
"Travel, maybe. I have no idea where I am or what happened to me, but I'm sure that I want answers to every question that I have." I said as I looked straight into his eyes.
"Well, why don't you ask us some of these questions? We may be able to answer them." Sierra said, smiling brightly.
I nodded and rattled my brain for the simplest ones.
"Where is this place?" I finally asked.
"We're in a small human village named Valbell. We're near the capital city of Wildewick." Silas answered and my brows shot up in surprise.
"Wait, is this continent named Halcyon?" I asked and he nodded.
Holy crap, I'm still in Halcyon? What is happening here?
"Is the ruler of Wildewick named Lastef?" I asked again and Silas frowned in confusion.
"No. Lastef was the first ruler. The current ruler is Darvan the Wise Centaur." Silas answered again and I could feel myself gape in disbelief.
"What? That's... That's not possible. The current rulers of the four countries are Siegfried, Lastef, Eldiorah and Malo." I said and Silas went silent for a moment.
"Blair, those were the first rulers. That's over six hundred years ago." Sierra answered as if she's equally baffled by my statement.
"No way." I whispered in disbelief and sat back, letting my arms dangle on my sides.
Six hundred years ago?
But am I still in the game? No, I can't be.
I can taste and eat food, feel tired and sleep without any sort of disconnection notice popping out and I could even empty my bowels any time.
This is, without a doubt, reality.
"Blair? Is there something wrong?" Sierra asked, concern obvious in her voice.
"I-I think I got teleported into the future." I said, doubting my own words.
I didn't add the part where I'm supposed to be inside of a virtual reality game because they would certainly think that I'm crazy.
That also explains why there's a village outside of the dungeon that wasn't supposed to be there.
"Tell me what happened to you." Silas finally spoke. He looked like he believes me to some degree.
I told him only a small part of the story - from the moment I left Raveryn up until the night that he picked me up. I even told him of Asmodai and I's first meeting.
Silas and Sierra listened to me quietly as Asmodai continued to eat while occassionally glancing towards my way.
"All of this is just... so confusing to me." I sighed as I ended my story.
The couple went silent, looking at each other like they were silently communicating.
If only they knew the entirety of what I'm going through right now, they'd be questioning my sanity and the authenticity of my words.
"Is it possible that it's someone else's doing? That girl that you were supposed to save, perhaps? If this is some sort of powerful magic, it's first time I've heard of it." Silas finally asked again.
I thought about it but I only shrugged.
"I honestly don't know." I sighed in defeat.
