Chapter 4

I was sitting in a restaurant with one of my investors as a business meeting was going on. I forgot an important file in my office so I sent Mark to bring it. Looking again and again in the direction of the entrance for Mark, I saw Ava. I was wondering if she was with her date.

“Who wears clothes like this on a date?”

I thought after taking her appearance in. Then I noticed a girl around her age was also present there.

“So she came here with her friend.”

I saw them taking their seat which was in a little distance from mine.

“She clearly didn’t notice me.” I thought.

“Is that bothering you?” said my inner voice.

“Sir, here is your file.” Mark’s voice broke my thought.

Not giving any further attention to her I started my meeting.

I was washing my hands on the washbasin when I heard some unusual sounds outside of the washroom.

Curious I peeked out and saw two shadows in the dark corner of the female washroom. I started to move slowly toward them and suddenly I heard someone saying ‘sorry’ in a small tone.

I quickened my pace and saw the man pushing his body forcefully onto Ava and holding her waist. A clear case of harassment.

“Wanna have some fun?”

I heard him saying in a slurry voice. That was it, I was going to beat the s**t out of him.

“Why not!” her answer surprised me and I stopped at my spot abruptly.

“Wait, is she really going to take the offer? She didn’t seem that kind of girl to me.”

I understood her answer the very next minute and my jaw dropped to the floor when I saw her moves. She was so fast and in a flash, the drunk jerk was lying on the floor with a loud thud.

“I hope now you know how to have actual fun.”

She said calmly and walked out from there. I was still standing in the same spot.

Things were too much to process. Slowly walking out of there I saw her cutting the stake so calmly as if nothing happened. She is definitely an unusual one.

Where women of nowadays, cry their eyes out on a broken nail, she is kicking people around in the groin.

I was still observing her moves from my table giving very little attention to my meeting. I must say I’m very intrigued by this interesting character. She didn’t talk much. I only saw her nodding her head sometimes.

I wrapped my meeting up and got up from my seat.

“Should I go and meet her?” I thought in hesitation.

“Maybe I should drop this idea. Enough meeting for today.”

Giving her a last glace I walked out of the restaurant and drove off

“Clara, is Miss Smith here yet?” I asked Clara before entering my office the next day.

“Yes Sir, she came on time and I also gave her all the instruction she needs.”

“Okay, send her in.” I told her and she entered into my office.

A soft knock was there I told her to come in.

“Good morning sir, here is your coffee.” She said placing the coffee on my desk.

“Thank you Miss Smith. I hope you got all the instructions from Clara.” I said looking in

to her cold eyes.

“Yes sir” she answered with a curt nod.

“Did you get the office tour?”

“Yes Sir.” Again she answered in a cold tone.

“Okay then let’s get started. Take these files and make sure you enter all the data of them in your computer. Also take this business contact book and save all the numbers on your phone. Call Lucas, my lawyer and set a meeting with him after lunch. And Miss Smith, I want all the work done before lunch. You can ask me if you get into any trouble. Understand?” I ordered her handing her the files and contact book.

“Sure Sir.” She replied taking the files, balancing them in her arms, and turning around to leave.

“Miss Smith?” I stopped her. She turned around and said nothing.

“Best of luck with your first day at work.” I wish her luck giving her a soft smile. Maybe I saw a little amount of warmness in her eyes.

“Thank you sir. I won’t disappoint you.” She said before leaving.

“Let’s see about that.” I said and started my work.

I was working when a knock interrupted me.

“Sir, here are the files you gave me, and the contact book. I also bought your lunch.” She said placing the files and the food on my desk.

“Thank you Miss Smith. Did you set the meeting with Lucas?”

“Yes sir, he’ll be here after lunch.”

“Take this file with you, study it as it is needed in our next meeting. Also prepare the meeting room. And don’t forget to have your lunch in between them.” I said again getting back to my work.

“Okay Sir.” She left.

After having lunch I headed towards the meeting room as I was informed by Clara that Lucas was there. On my way, I saw Ava who was checking the files and her laptop for the meeting.

“Are you ready Miss Smith?” I asked her.

“Yes Sir.” She answered.

Nodding I entered the meeting room where Lucas was already present. Lucas and I are working together for 2 years and he is one of my trusted men.

“Hey man. Finally, you’ve called me. I thought you have forgotten about your poor lawyer.” Lucas said pouting.

“Someone was on his honeymoon.” I said rolling my eyes. Lucas has married recently and was on his honeymoon for one month.

“By the way, who is this beauty standing behind you?” Lucas asked smirking.

“Meet my new PA, Miss Smith.” I said sorting out the files.

“Hi, Miss Smith, I’m Lucas, the lawyer.” I saw Lucas holding out his hand toward her for a shake.

But her hands were still on her side and she also made no move for the shake. I looked at her in confusion and saw her clenching and unclenching her jaw, as if she was trying to control her emotions.

Slowly she raised her hand and hold Lucas’s very lightly as if she didn’t want to do so. But Lucas made his grip stronger. Suddenly she snatched her hand away from Lucas’s grip as if it burnt her skin and started rubbing it in her skirt.

“What kind of behavior was that.” I thought but said nothing to her.

“I think I have to teach her how to behave after this meeting.” I said in my mind.

“I think your PA doesn’t like me.” Lucas said glaring at her.

“Enough Lucas, let’s start the meeting now.” I said getting annoyed.

During the whole meeting I could feel the stiffness in Ava. Though she was working smoothly but something was not normal in her. She was weird. Everything in her was weird and I was getting annoyed by it.

After finishing the meeting Lucas left and I could say he was offended by that little incident.

“Miss Smith, in my cabin. Now!” I told her storming out of the meeting room.

I was standing in front of my glass wall and she knocked on my door. I turned around and saw her standing in front of my desk lowering her gaze.

“What was that!? Do you not know how to behave?? Do you have any idea how offended Lucas was???” I shouted at her getting closer.

“I think you told me you are very well aware of the term professionalism and this is what you gave me? That was just a simple handshake Miss Smith, and you not only jerked your hand but also start rubbing it on your damn skirt as if his hand was some sort of dirty stuff. Do you even realize how insulting that was??” I was fuming.

“Listen here, maybe your past experience wasn’t good with men but that was completely your fault because you decided to choose them or maybe you are an introvert or whatever I don’t give a s**t. When you are working with me you throw your problems outside of the office and then come here to work. Whatever you do outside of the office it’s not my f*****g concern, but in my office, behave!!” She was standing there like a statue and still not looking at me. Why the hell she is so weird!!

“Look at me when I’m talking to you!” again shouting at her I got closer to her and grabbed her arm.

She did obey me this time. Her eyes were pooled with water. There was also something else in them. Fury and rage. Her breath was also ragged as if she was going to explode.

Something stirred in my heart and suddenly my anger washed down. I left her arm and she immediately stormed out of my office.

“Don’t you think you’ve crossed your limits?” said my inner voice.

Pinching the bridge of my nose I hissed. I could sense a headache forming in my head.
