Chapter Three - My Sister and I

1023 Words
But over an hour I did not see anyone coming in. And I decided to go home. When I arrived at our house, the club was still stuck on my mind. I went straight in my room. We still did not have electricity so I opened the window to have some light, and changed my clothes. I get tired easily and my body always seems heavy. I only have one set of uniforms, so I need to wash it again for tomorrow. ... I took the old Korean magazine I had hidden in the drawer and looked at the male actor on the cover. And as I stared at that picture I remembered Gyung-suk even more, “How is he? Where is he? What those Korean girls were talking about? Is that really him or just his same name?” I moved on to the next page and there was a picture of group of friends, and there I remembered my only friend in Korea, whose name was Gong-li. He is a guy. But before I left Korea, we never met again. As I was refreshing Gyung-suk's memory, my mind was interrupted when I heard my elder sister’s voice, her name is Nica. "Tein, help me to draw a picture," she said, calling my nick name. I hid the magazine and faced my sister. "Sure sister Nica," I said, smiling, but Nica noticed that I was sad. "Why are you looking so sad, huh? Do you remember your Korean boyfriend again?" She said. I remember, she caught me crying alone as I mentioned Gyung-suk's name. "Oh, not, I try to forget him," I replied. “You know, the reason why you don’t have no confidence in yourself because of the people around you at school. They always criticize you and bullied you, so you always feel ugly, don't you?” Sister Nica said. And that's when I thought she was right, I lost confidence in myself because of those who bullied me. That's why I always feel so insecure. "Let's change your style okay, fight, talk," my sister advised. Then she opens her book to do her assignment. What she said came to my mind, but it was easy to say but I couldn't do it, because I was used to it. I really hate myself for being like this. Before we went to bed, I told my sister about the mysterious club. "Have you heard of the Octagon club?" I asked her. She thought for a moment. "Hmm, what is that?" she asked. "I saw a club near Intramuros, the signsge was written in Korean so I understood the meaning, and I read that it was Octagon Kizoku Club!" I told het, and she suddenly thought. "A Korean club in Intramuros?" she asked, feeling strange. "Yes, the one with the Korean language sign, the front of the club is simple but looks so mysterious inside," I said. "Hmm, so Octagon Kizoku is written there, hmm?" she says. "Do you know that?" "Yes, I remember something, but it was said that no one got in there," she said. "How did you find out about that?" she asked me. "Earlier, when I came home, I saw two Koreans, and they mentioned Gyungsuk's name, it was not clear to me what they were talking about, it seemed weird," I said. "What are you doing?" "I followed them and saw them wearing strange face masks and entering the Octagon club," “Did you really follow them? Why did you do that for?” She asked in astonishment. "I was curious when they mentioned Gyungsuk," "So you're venturing into what they're talking about?" "Yes, I thought it might be him?" My answer. My sister laughed. "It's just the same name," she scoffed. And I asked her. "Have you known about the club for a long time?" "Yes, I was still in high school," "How did you find out?" "This is a secret club, and no one knows about it," she said. "If no one knows why do you know?" I asked. "It just so happened that I found out about this, my friend and I were looking for a good time before, she wanted a weird gimmick. We took a taxi and asked where there was a strange club. And we were taken to that place by the driver,” “He said he was just seeing that club when he was young but until now he was puzzled by what was inside that club. When we got off, he told us that we were very lucky if we can enter there,” my sister Nica narrated, I became even more curious about what she said. Then she continue to narrates. “When we got there we saw a Korean and Japanese written on the signage, we don’t know what written on it, because we don’t understand, but we were excited to go inside, bet when we arrived at the guard, he said that we could not enter if we are not a member. My friend said that she would pay but he just laughed at us. No matter how much she pay, he didn’t let us go inside,” she narrates. I thought the same thing happened to me earlier. "But there’s kind of such clubs. I know that there is a bar there if you are not a member you can not enter, do you know how to get a membership card?" I eagerly asked, maybe my sister know how, the guard just didn’t told me I guess. "We also asked that, the guard said it was not possible. He said we could not just become a member! And he sent us away. But my friend was puzzled by what the guard said so she was restless. We finished the guard's duty and then she invited him to have a drink with us outside. And of course, because my friend are beautiful, the guard came with us,” my sister continued. I thought that she was only sixteen during those times.
