Chapter 8

1014 Words
POV Evan I get to the back patio and I can still smell her. I consider turning around but I know I can't. My body craves to be close to her, but I need to talk to my parent’s about this. I don’t even know if she knows about werewolves. I need space to get my head straight. I get to the tree line and shift. I need to run. I need Aaron to calm down before I go back. It feels like I run for hours before I finally feel I can control myself again. I get back to the house and find my parents and brother talking in the living room. I sit on the couch next to my brother as they are discussing our guest. “How much does she know about us? Does she know about werewolves at all? We all know Connor rejected that side of him, even before he left.” My mother shrugs and my father pulls her close. I can tell she is hurting. I contemplate whether right now is the time to say anything, but I can feel Aaron pacing in the back of my mind and I know if I wait he might drive me mad. “Um father, I have some news.” He looks at me questioningly. “When Nora walked into the dinning room tonight my wolf claimed her as my mate.” My whole family seemed shocked. Before I could stop myself I continued to say: “And after dinner I went to her room. Aaron took over and kissed her. I know she could feel it too because she kissed me back. I had to make myself leave but she wanted me too.” My family continued to be silent. “Ahem well congratulations on finding your mate brother. I know how happy you must be that you have found her.” My mother was still in shock and my dad was the next to respond “Well son I’m happy you found her but we need to be very careful about this situation. She has pups and she might not know about us. We need to be cautious about all of this.” POV Nora After Evan stormed out I felt like I could finally think straight again. I splash cold water on my face and my head starts to clear. Why did I kiss him? Why do I feel so drawn to him? I lay on my bed trying to get my thoughts straight but I realize they haven’t been straight for weeks. I decide that I need to finally ask Elise and Kye my questions so I can get back to my kids. As I walk down the stairs all I can smell is chocolate again. I can feel my brain going to mush as I get closer to the living room and as I turn the corner I see him. I can’t take my eyes off of him, even though I'm trying so I don’t draw attention to it. My body craves his touch again. His lips on mine. Demanding me to do as I’m told. I’m snapped out of my trance when Elise hugs me. “Hi dear, I hope you enjoyed dinner.” I smile as she gestures for me to sit. As I do I struggle to ignore Evans' gaze and just focus on everyone else in the room. Kye clears his throat. “So we have a couple questions, if you don't mind us talking for a while.” He smiles slightly. I try to focus but my mind can only think about giving myself to Evan. “Y-yes sir, I would love to talk and answer any questions you might have!” Elise smiles and holds her husband's hand. “So dear, what did you know about Connors past?” I try to think about everything he told me about his family. “Well he never told me very much, just that his parents had passed and he didn't have any siblings.” As I finish my sentence I look at Evan. His eyes never leave mine. “So he never told you anything about how he grew up.” I force my attention to Kye “He always told me that he had a happy childhood but that was as far as he would go, except a couple stories here and there.” I try to keep my breathing under control as I can still feel Evan’s eyes on me. We talked for about another hour, Evans eyes on me the whole time. As I start to stand Kye stops me. “Nora, we have something very important to discuss with you. We only bring this up because of your pups and some other news that has come to light.” I nod trying to wrack my brain on what could be so important, but all I can think about is Evan and how my body craves him right now. “So Conner wasn't what you thought he was. We all here are not like you, and I have a feeling that your kids aren't either.” I look at Kye confused. “What do you mean my kids aren't like me?” He squeezes his wife's hand. “Yes Nora, Connor was a werewolf and it's very likely your kids are as well. Now I know this is probably very shocking news but we have ways we can prove what we are talking about is real. We think it might be best for you to have your mother bring your pups here as well so we can confirm that they are also like this.” I can't help but sit in shock as he tells me all this. “What you're saying can't be true?! Werewolves don't exist.” He continues: “I know this is news that doesn't sound true but if you come outside with us we can prove it to you.” All I can muster is a nod as my whole world falls apart.
