They all stand and Evan rushes to my side as I start to get up. As I stand his hand settles on my lower back. His touch sends electricity through my body and I can't help but look at him. His eyes are full of concern and need. I try to take a step away from him. He follows me like a lost puppy, his hand never leaving my back. We follow his parents outside onto their driveway. “Evan, I think it's best if you do this. Aaron will be able to make her feel more comfortable than any of us.” He smiles at them and then turns to me and places his hand on my cheek. “This is all going to be ok. I won't hurt you, I promise.” His words and touch calm me and all I can do is believe him as he walks a couple feet away. His eyes meet mine again. “It is all going to be ok Nora, just take a couple deep breaths.” I can't do anything but listen to him. Next thing I know I hear bones breaking and I see Evan turn from a 6 '6 man into a massive black wolf. My first instinct is to panic and run but as soon as this wolf opens his eyes I'm calm again.
The wolf has the same golden eyes as Evan, and I can't take mine off of him. He takes a couple steps closer and rubs his nose on my hand. I feel the same spark as when Evan touched me earlier. Travis clears his throat. “We are all werewolves. This is Evan’s wolf, his name is Aaron.” “Connor also had a wolf, whose name was Ike, but he never wanted to be a part of our style of life. He left and lived a normal human life and completely cut contact with us 15 years ago.” Aaron rubs along my back and trots off into the house and emerges back to himself. He slowly approaches and returns his hand to my lower back and I immediately feel calmer. His eyes look over my face in concern and then he looks to his family. “Would you three mind if we took some time to talk alone?” “I think we have a lot to discuss after what just happened.'' His parents both nod and walk back into the house but Travis stops before following. “I hope we didn't freak you out too much Nora. We don't have much experience telling new people.” he smiles and then follows suit with his parents shutting the door.
Before I can blink Evan is holding me against his chest and I can't help but take a deep breath in. He smells amazing! Better than I can even explain. “Are you ok Nora?” He looks down at me with concern. “There are some things for us to talk about, but if you're too overwhelmed then we can wait and talk later.” I smile at him. I have barely met this man and he is so caring. “I'm ok Evan, we can talk now.” he nods, takes my hand, and leads me around the house to a seating area in the back. I sit on part of the sectional and Evan sits so he is facing me. “So Evan, what did you need to talk to me about?” His eyes feel like they can see into my soul. Even though I'm only sitting a foot away I miss and crave his touch. “Nora, now that you know about werewolves I can explain why we are so drawn to each other. It's a thing called the mate bond and when you walked into the dinning room my wolf Aaron claimed you as being our mate. He is also the one that took control and kissed you earlier. I'm so sorry about that by the way.” I lean over and grab his hand. “I-its ok Evan”. As I grab his hand I feel the need to be closer so I slide next to him. “I just don’t know if I’m ready for that step yet. Connor only passed a month ago. I have kids and my life is a mess.” Evan ran his hand up my arm and pulled my chin up till I was looking at him.'' Let me just prove my love to you. I want it to be our crazy life. I will help with your kids. I will do anything to prove it to you. But I do agree with my parents. I think you need to call and have your mother bring them here. There is a good chance they are werewolves and they should be around their own kind so they can learn how to control their wolves.” I feel conflicted about bringing Emma and Eli. “What if bringing them isn’t safe or it’s too much for them?'' Evan pulls me against his chest again. “It’s ok Nora, they will be ok.” He pulls himself in front of me on his knees. “And I promise to protect them. From anything that might come. They will be safe I swear!” I can’t help but completely trust him as he looks up at me. “Now let’s get you to your room so you can rest, and then when you wake up I will help you call your mom and set up flights for everyone.” I nod and he grabs my hand and leads me inside. When we get to my door he pulls me close. “Please get some rest Nora. When you're up and ready my room is the one down the hall on the right.” He kisses my forehead and turns to leave but I grab his hand. “Stay with me please? When you're gone my heart aches and I don’t think I will be able to sleep without you.” He stares at me in shock and I feel the need to clarify because of earlier. “But it needs to stay g rated so Aaron can’t get all hot and bothered.” He smiles and chuckles. “Of course my dear. Anything for you.”
