Aurora "Rory" Wynter's fingers danced across the canvas, the brushstrokes bold and expressive. Her art was her escape, her sanctuary from the chaos of the world. As she worked, Rory's mind wandered to the upcoming exhibition at the local gallery. Her paintings had been selected for the showcase, and she was both thrilled and terrified. The studio door creaked open, and Rory's best friend, Lily, sauntered in. "Hey, girl! How's the art coming along?" Rory smiled, setting down her brush. "It's going. I'm just trying to perfect this piece." Lily nodded, her eyes scanning the studio. "You're a genius, Rory. Your art is going to change the world." Rory chuckled, feeling a warmth in her chest. "You're biased, Lil." Lily grinned. "Maybe, but I'm also right." As they chatted, Rory's phone buzzed with an incoming text. She glanced at the screen, her heart skipping a beat. "Hey, what's wrong?" Lily asked, noticing Rory's expression. Rory hesitated, unsure how to share the news. "It's just... I got a message from the gallery. They want me to meet with a potential buyer tonight." Lily's eyes widened. "That's amazing! You must be so excited!" Rory forced a smile, trying to hide her unease. "Yeah, I guess so." The truth was, Rory had a bad feeling about the meeting. Something didn't feel right. But she couldn't quite put her finger on what it was.
