Aurelia POV
“Hey, Alpha. He’s waking up.” Cruz’s voice is enough to wake me from my sleep. I jump up and rush to be beside Marcus when he wakes, holding his hand. He blinks a few times, looking around, and then back at our faces. “Wha- Where- What happened?” I can’t help it, I burst into tears and pull him into a hug.
He looks around at all of us. Liam walks forward and coughs to clear his throat. “Marcus, I don’t know how to tell you this.” I jump up, interrupting them. “Let Talula.” I reach onto the chair behind us and pass Marcus the letter. As he reads it, I can see the mark on his neck has totally disappeared now. Like he’d never found his mate.
“Get out.” I look up at Marcus, surprised. This wasn’t what I expected. “EVERYONE, GET OUT!”He growls so loud I swear the room almost shakes. I look at Liam and Cruz. Cruz taps Marcus’s knee and walks out. Liam tries to pull my hand. I plead with him for just one second. I stand up and lean forward t pull Marcus into a hug.
“I’m here. You can punch it out with those idiots. But I’ll look after you, I promise.”
“Thank you, Luna.”
“Marcus, we’re past titles. Come on. Just rest. I know it’s horrible now, but I promise, you have an amazing mate out there.”
“I thought I loved her.”
“I know.”
“It felt so real.”
“I know.”
“Will you stop saying I know?”
“Fine. So long as you let me stay?”
“Aurelia, just go. Be with your mate. I need to get used to being alone anyway.”
“Marcus. You’ll never be alone. You always have us.”
I reach forward and hold his hand, squeezing it gently.
“No matter what happens, you have all of us. And I’m not leaving this room. I’m Luna, I’ll just order you to accept that I’m staying. You’re like a brother to me Marcus. I won’t leave you when you’re upset.”
He gently chuckles and shakes his head before turning to Liam. “She can stay. Just give me 10 minutes, then send that mop bucket back in.” We all laugh as I pull Marcus into another hug. “Alright, Get off!” He groans at me. I laugh and give him a playful punch in return.
A few hours pass and the doctors allow Marcus to be discharged. Cruz had brought Marcus’s parents over and they had a long chat while we waited in the waiting room. “You’re good at your job, you know.” I look over, surprised to receive such a compliment from Cruz. “Aw, thanks Cruz. You’re not so bad yourself as a mop bucket.” He scowls as Liam’s laughter fills the room. “Nah, I’m joking. You’re an awesome Beta, Cruz.” He takes a bow as I roll my eyes. I hadn’t left Liam’s side all day. Every time he moved, I moved. I had to be close to him. And I knew I was probably doing his head in. But, I just needed to be close to him.
When his parents leave, Marcus walks out to us. “Can we go out?” Everyone looks at me. “Uhh, you guys don’t need my permission. You all go.” I automatically grab Liam’s hand timidly though. “Nah, you’re my favourite wolf now, you need to be there.” And he pulls me into a hug. I laugh as Liam’s warning growl fills the air, and I squeeze his hand gently. “Come on, I know where the best drinks are served.” Marcus says. My eyes widen looking at Liam and he laughs, shaking his head.
Marcus POV
I feel sick. Sick to my stomach. Sick that my wife - wife? Ex wife? Fake wife? What do I call her? Whoever she was. She deceived me all these years. That she took precautions to never get pregnant when I had dreams of filling her belly with my pups. That she killed herself rather than come clean to me. I was livid.
I needed a boys night out to sort my head out. But, I needed Aurelia close. She was the only one able to calm me down enough to not lose control. And I definitely didn’t need to lose control right now. I drag them through the village, up to the top where there’s a shady little strip bar. Aurelia scowls at me as we walk in but doesn’t say anything. Her eyes cloud over, I can’t see the other guys, but I’m guessing it’s for them. Cruz looks uneasy when we take a seat at a booth.
“Look man, we all know I used to love the ladies. But, it feels wrong being here with Clara-Jane back home.” I groan. “Oh don’t worry. I mind linked her. She said keep your d**k in your pants and she’ll see you later.” I turn to Aurelia who’s grinning and Liam who’s shaking his head laughing. I can’t help but join in. She’s in her own world.
A waitress walks by, wearing nothing by a skimpy bunny costume. Her ass is perfectly round. And I know just what will sort out my head. I slap her ass as she walks past and she saunters over to me. “What can I get you?” “You will do.” I smile sweetly at her. “Can we get a couple rounds of drinks please?” Cruz asks, interrupting me.
I glare at him as she takes everyone’s drink orders and disappears. I order 3 Wolfen Punches. The worst shots you can get. But they’ll make me lose my head within about a minute flat. Just what I need. She fetches them over and I down the 3 straight away. Without even flinching, she pulls out another 3. She knows me already. I down the 3 and pull her on top of me. She starts to grind in my lap and I can already feel my d**k growing. Yes, this is exactly what I need. The song changes and she starts a seductive dance on my d**k. f**k, she is hot. Every grind makes my d**k ache for her even more.
Aurelia POV
“Liam, for f**k’s sake at least get him to take her into a room or something.” Liam turns to look at me in horror. “I’ve never seen him like this. It was always Cruz that was a dick.” “HEY!” Cruz shouts next to us. He’s laughing uneasily and trying to avoid looking at the same time. It’s clear how awkward this makes him feel too.
And just when I thought it couldn’t get any worse. She lets out a massive moan and starts bouncing. “Liam, I swear to the Moon Goddess if he is f*****g her right here. I will flip my lid.” Liam groans, and just pulls me close to him, covering my ears. “Liam. I have heightened senses. I can hear EVERYTHING.” He tightens his grip, burying me in himself while Cruz looks at me in horror. This is awful.
Within a few minutes, Liam releases my head and checks me over. “Did I hurt you?” I shake my head. “But sort him out, please. Let’s go home.” I beg. He nods and looks at Cruz. Their eyes cloud over, obviously getting their plan of attack ready. “I ain’t touching that, man. No f*****g way.” “I’m the Alpha, I ain’t touching it.” “Mate, I ain’t touching someone else’s dick.” The boys had managed to get rid of the overly helpful waitress when Marcus crashed unconscious. But he’d left his d**k hanging out of his trousers. “JUST ZIP IT UP!!!” I scream at them.
Their eyes panic at my sudden tone and both rush to pull up his trousers. They grab an arm each and start walking him out of the bar. I follow along behind them. When we get outside, a furious bloke comes running after us. “OI. YOU PRICKS OWE ME MONEY. YOU THINK YOU CAN f**k ONE OF MY GIRLS AND JUST LEAVE?” I turn around, preparing myself for another argument and get knocked clean off my feet. Liam flies around to tackle whoever hurt me and Cruz comes rushing to me. “Are you OK? Let me look at you. Do you need the hospital?” I shake my head. I stretch my arms and can see some smashed glass in my arm. “Do not move.” he warns. “Liam. Come on. You need to get her to hospital.”
Liam’s face rushes in front of mine. “Cruz, grab him. Come on, let’s go.” Liam scoops me up and rushes me to back to the pack hospital. Where I’m greeted by Doctor Fritz again. “Oh dear, that’s a lot of glass. I’ll need to remove it all then just do some tests to make sure you don’t get any infections.” I nod. She turns to one of her nurses who puts Marcus in a bed opposite and gives him an injection to get the alcohol out of his system and bring him around.
Liam POV
I am beyond furious. Tied with distraught. Of course I feel bad for Marcus. But his d**k has caused my girl to be hurt. Seeing her laying on the floor full of glass shards was enough to stop me killing the prick who took her out. But he’ll pay tonight. I’d already sent Antonio, our pack trainer, a mind link to get the prick and take him to the dungeons. Nobody hurts my girl like this. And she’s his Luna! What the f**k was he thinking. How dare he. I’ll have him exiled for this. Or better yet, killed.
When I laid her down on the bed, that’s only when we first started to see the full extent. The prick had launched her at a pile of smashed glass. She had shards everywhere. Her face, neck, back, side, legs. She was covered. And now I was freaking out more in case I’d pushed any further in carrying her.
I was glad when the doctors brought around Marcus. Because he got to hear every time my poor baby screamed when they pulled the glass out of her. Every scream broke my heart. I held her hand, kissed her, stroked her hair, but nothing help to dull her pain. When the doctor was done, they did a quick scan to make sure no glass had been missed or gone further inside, but they’d had it all. Her cuts were healing now. And we just had to wait for the test results to make sure there were no infections.
This was torture. I lay down on the bed and pull her close to me. “I’m sorry, baby. I’m so sorry. I should never have let you walk behind us. Please forgive me.” She wriggles against me. “It’s not your fault.”
“She’s right. It’s my fault.” My head snaps up, my eyes full of loathing at Marcus. He bows his head down ashamed. “It’s fine, Marcy. I’m fine.” “We don’t know that yet!” I growl at her. Just then the doctor walks in with the results. “All clean, Luna. You’re fine.” “Can I go home?” The doctor looks at her uncertain and then at me. “Only if you promise me she won’t do any exercise or heavy lifting tonight. I want her body to be able to heal, and if left alone, it should all be done tonight.” I nod, “I promise.” She nods back at me. “OK, I’ll get her discharged now.”
She lays her head on my chest. “I love you, thank you.” How can she be thinking of me right now when she’s the one all banged up? “I love you too sweetheart, always.” She smiles and falls back to sleep. I glare at Marcus.
“Mate. He feels s**t. You know how much he loves Aurelia. He wouldn’t want anything to happen to her.”
“Cruz. Don’t piss me off.”
“I’m not trying to. But, imagine roles were reversed and you were in his position with Aurelia?”
I close my eyes and nod.
“It’s fine, Marcus. But, you better make it up to her.”
“I will, I promise.”
We nod at each other from across the room. “OK, Alpha. The Luna is all set to go. You look after her. Any problems, just call me.” I thank her and then pick her up carefully. I hold her against my chest and carry her back to the house, up to our bedroom.
“Cruz, you’re in charge. I’m off duty until she’s 100%.”
“Yes, Alpha.”
“Marcus, go have a sleep.”
“Yes, Alpha. Can I see her tomorrow? I need to apologise.”
“I’ll speak with her first, and then let you know.”
“Yes, Alpha. I am, truly sorry.”
“Go to bed, Marcus.”
I get to our bedroom and open the door carefully. I place her down on the bed. She’s still in her hospital gown because her whole outfit was ruined. I chuckle to myself knowing how annoyed she’ll be about the outfit. She’s always so careful with anything, making sure to look after everything she owns. But, there was no saving her outfit. It was torn to shreds and full of blood. There was no way I was letting her see it. Ever.
I take off her hospital gown and slip one of my t-shirts over her head. It drowns her. But I hope the smell will at least be a comfort for her through the night. I turn off the light, crawl into bed and hold her against me, with tears in my eyes. I don’t cry. I don’t think I’ve ever cried. But seeing my beautiful girl, all smashed up and screaming in pain and yet still worried about everyone else and making sure that the pain wasn’t hurting ME through the bond. It was enough to kill me. That prick must have left that glass laying there for weeks. I send a mind link to the warriors to exile the prick. Aurelia was too sweet and innocent to want him killed and I know she’d be horrified if I did it. But he’d never step foot inside my territory again. And if I ever see him.. He’s dead.
