From the noise that was emitting from the ballroom, Andrea could tell it was packed. She squeezed Camilles hand letting her know the fear she had going in there. Sure their pack and those in town had accepted her, but would other members from packs who have never met her accept her? Camille squeezed back and they entered the ball room. At first no one noticed they had walked in. Andrea could only tell because no one came over to them right away. It was not until Camille brought both of them over to the table that held drinks that people started to come up to them. The fear Andrea had started to ease away as people came up and started to tell her how much they loved her little shop and really enjoyed the changes that had been made to it.They had been in the party for almost an hour when the crowd got quiet and a voice clearing through the microphone sounded. "Good Evening everyone!" Anthony's voice came through "Welcome to the annual welcome ball we hold each year." Anthony sounded like he was moving back and forth on the stage he had explained to her had been set up "This year is a little different, because we have one more group here to join us in this celebration! Be sure to welcome those that are here and do not forget to enjoy yourself!" He sounded so sure of himself "And do not forget, tomorrow the Hidden Corner will be open earlier than normal to allow those who made new friends or more to get more time together, but until then have fun!"
Andrea and everyone else began to cheer and the music started. "Andrea would you like to dance with me?" Camille asked her. Andrea was worried she didn't know if she would be able to dance, and Camille knew that.
"um..." Andrea said holding her drink "Just lead me to a table for right now, I'll join after a song or two." Camille didn't fight with her, she simply got her to a table and helped her sit down. Sitting down, a sadness slowly crept through Andrea. She had resigned herself to never knowing who her soul mate was a while ago, but it still made her sad. The thing is for a wolf to find their soul mate they need to be able to look them in the eyes. While she sat there with the sadness enveloping her a familiar sent wafted through the air. She recognized that smell any where. "Hello, David" She whispered, knowing he could hear her.
The chair next to hers scraped across the floor and creaked as a body sat down in it. "Hello, Andrea" he said. He still sounded happy to Andrea.
"Well I have to admit," Andrea said smiling in his direction "I did not know that you were a wolf."
David chuckled a little. she felt something brush against her hand and she allowed it to open. "Well I didn't know if you were, until you were whispering to Daniel." she could feel his hand enter hers, and again that shocking sensation went through her arm. She almost jerked her hand away, but the shocks felt different some how. "You know your not that subtle when you whisper in your shop." He said into her ear. His breath tickled her ear and butterflies went soaring in her stomach
"Well," She said trying to hide what he was doing to her "I wasn't hiding what I said to other wolves." She reached out and found his shoulder and leaned in just like he had "It was more for the humans who would never understand." She almost swore he had growled when she had one that. She couldn't understand what was going on, all she could feel was his hand leave hers. The brief break between his hand leaving her hand and touched her face she became sad. She didn't want him to not let go of her hand. Then she felt his finger tips touched her cheek and the shocking sensation started again. The electrical current trailed along her skin as his finger tips started at her cheek and went back to her ear. Soon his whole palm was cupping her face. Andrea purred in content as the feeling went from a shocking electrical current to a soothing warmth that started in her face and went to her heart. Andrea had her eyes closed and pushed her face further into his hand. She didn't want the feeling to go away.
"I knew it." He said breathily "I just couldn't understand why you couldn't feel it.
Andrea's eyes opened a little, she couldn't see him but she could feel the heat of his gaze on her "Knew what?" She asked in a whisper, but she didn't get her answer. His lips connected with hers and feelings of want and need burst through her. She had never felt this before. She felt love because of her mother, but she had never felt the need to be with someone so badly that her heart hurt. She wanted to be closer to him and feel his skin on hers. Then the one thing happened that had not happened in a while. Her wolf howled. Andrea shot away from David. Her wolf had not spoken or howled in years, yet she just did that.
"Andrea?" David sounded hurt at how quickly she moved away from him. She was confused. How could this happen? Her wolf stopped talking a long time ago, Since she could not talk to her wolf Andrea simply stopped trying. Now she could feel her wolf pushing at the seams of her mind. 'What is going on?' Andrea thought trying to get her wolfs attention 'Tell me what to do?!'
Only one word came to her mind, and it was one word she had refused to do ever since the accident.
'Shift'
