'Shift'
Andrea's body started to shake a little bit as her wolf tried to take control. The shaking got worse as Andrea fought her wolf. "David" Andrea whispered, trying to not bring attention to herself "Help!" She could feel David take her forearm and help her out of the chair. When she was sitting in the chair she was able to the pain and keep her wolf at bay. As soon as David took her out of the chair the pain became unbearable. While pain was coursing through her body a new problem occurred. Fear. Fear shot through her as she realized that there wasn't just other wolves in the ballroom. There were humans too and they had not discovered wolves at this moment. "David, Hurry!" She said, the pain and the fear evident in her voice. Soon she felt David lift her into his arms and start to move quickly out of the ball room. She didn't even realize they had someone follow the outside until Anthony spoke to David.
"What are you doing to her?" Anthony sounded angry, Andrea couldn't tell why but the pain was getting worse. Her wolf wanted out and she was going to come out now.
"Anthony!" Andrea screamed "The house!" She tried not to bring more attention to herself but her wolf was making it hard.
"Follow me." he said realizing what was happening and what David was doing. She could feel the wind whip through her hair as she fought her wolf 'Please' She begged 'Please wait till we are home, I'll let you out then' Her wolf was far from listening. Andrea almost felt like she was fighting a rabid dog. Next thing she knew her bones started to crack. "Andrea try to hold her off a little longer." Anthony begged. He could tell she was fighting as hard as she could but he also realized that she was loosing the battle.
"Has she shifted before?" David asked, the fear seeping through his voice.
"She has but after the accident she refused to and she told me her wolf no longer talked." Anthony was scared. He had never sounded this scared before "We're almost there, Andrea, just a little further." Her nails had already started to elongate her canines started to come out as well. She could feel her back starting to rip, and the scream she had been holding in finally was released into the woods. "PUT HER DOWN!" Anthony yelled realizing she could not stop her wolf any further. "Do it Andrea, stop fighting her."
Andrea's mind went blank and all the pain intensified as she felt the fur sprout from her body. She could feel her arms and legs crack and reset. Her nose and mouth were stretching out and her ears were beginning to shift and change. The pain she felt was not like it had when she had shifted the first time. This was worse. She felt like there was no end to it. until at once it simply stopped. Like she had never been in pain to begin with. she had her eyes closed as she felt the wind brush against her body and through her fur.
"Is she ok?" David asked. He sounded like he was both in awe and scared.
"Andrea," Anthony asked brushing his hand through her head. "Sweetheart, open your eyes for me."
Andrea didn't realize she had her eyes closed. She only saw darkness so it seemed natural to her to keep her eyes closed. Not like it would change Shen she opened them. Andrea shook her head. She didn't want to be reminded her that her wolf would be blind as well 'I'm so sorry,' Andrea sobbed in her head to her wolf 'I am so sorry I caused you to loose that too.' She didn't realize the tears were spilling out of her eyes of her wolf but she felt the brush of her wolf on her hand in her mind.
'I'm sorry I left you.' Her wolf said. they sat there for a minute. Andrea holding her close and crying into her fur. 'I felt like I let you down that day.' Her wolf Leila said 'I couldn't stand it' Andrea hugged her tight letting her know she was not angry.
'I guess I should open my eyes now shouldn't I?' Andrea asked into her wolfs fur. She could feel Leila nod her head then allowed Andrea to take over. Andrea took a deep breath and slowly opened her eyes. Once opened she gasped.
Anthony looked exactly like he did when he was younger. Only difference was he was so much tanner now and he looked like he had been doing nothing but working out. He was about 6 ft 3 and he had beautiful green eyes and they looked extremely concerned for her. Andrea got up and nudged into him and then licked his face. The look of shock that came across his face was the same shock she felt when she opened her eyes. Turning away from him she looked around the woods that they were in. The trees were just how she remembered. Golds, reds, oranges and greens were all around her. A lot had already fallen on the ground but that just made it easier for her to see the night sky. Realizing that it was in fact night she shot off towards the clearing by the pack house. She had to see it. She had to see the sky again. Getting to the spot Anthony had made for those who enjoyed star gazing she trotted around looking up and enjoying the sight. She soon sat down and just kept her eyes up. She had completely forgotten about Anthony and David until they both sat next to her in wolf form and watched the sky. 'It's so beautiful,' She sent to Anthony
His wolf licked her cheek and he transformed back into a person. "Welcome back, Andrea." he whispered to her and then walked away. Leaving her and David to watch the starry night.
