Chapter four

Clara contemplated sending it but pressed send regardless, she was not going to let the past hold her back. She had found a man she wanted to marry and so she would. "Marry me tomorrow." She texted him again, hoping he would get her text message. Clara drove out of the restaurant, heading back home. Her apartment was not feasible to go back to, so her parents house was the only place she could go to now. ..... Lucian just finished dressing up for the gala when a text came in from his mum, "Lucian, the young Miss said you didn't show up. Why?" Lucian frowned, what did she mean by he didn't show up? He was right there with her, "Miss Laurent, if he remembered correctly." A call came in at the exact same time from his mum. "Son, why did you keep the young Miss waiting? You could have told her you weren't going." Mrs. Throne scolded over the phone, her voice soft. "Mum, I was at the restaurant. I had a date with her, but I didn't keep her waiting." Lucian replied, rolling his eyes. He despised liars. "If you were at the restaurant, then Miss Penelope was not the one you went on a date with. " Mrs. Throne replied, "Your date was planned at the rooftop." "At the rooftop?" Lucian asked, surprise setting in. "Yes." "It means, you did not see her. I'll fix another date for you tomorrow, do not keep her waiting. Bye." Mrs. Throne muttered and then ended the call. Lucian's mind flashed back to the red haired girl with water sticking out the tip of her hair, she smelt like raspberries and her gaze was one of a kind. Her eyes were fierce, her gentle and kind. She had a tough exterior and probably a tough interior as well. So she was not his date, what a coincidence, he thought she was his date. There was no going back anymore, fate already had their encounter planned out. Lucian thought, when he saw the text he received, telling him to get married. He finally found a wife, the chase was over. He placed down his phone and walked out of the room, he still needed to style his hair for the event. ...... "Mr. Throne, Mrs Throne, you are both husband and wife under the law now, you may kiss the bride." The marriage official muttered, staring at the couple. Lucian cast a glare at him with a side eye, he quickly cleared his throat causing the official to add, "Or not." "Thank you for your help today. Please keep this a secret for now, we are the only ones who know about this." Lucian muttered, taking notice of the phone being raised. His friend loved to engage in mischief and he was certain it would end up on their friend group chat if he didn't stop him from doing it now. "Fine." Clara stared at the marriage certificate in her hands, disbelief evident in her eyes. She didn't think that she would be married any time soon, she had only hoped she would because Julian had constantly refused to do it without her parents approval. But here she was, getting married to a man that her parents did not know about or give approval to. The previous night had gone in the blink of an eye, she stayed awake through the night, reminiscing about the scene she walked into, the man who had impulsively asked her to marry him and her texting him and asking him to get married to her. She had received a text from him at about 4:00am, asking her to clear her schedule and be at the marriage bureau at 9, so they could get married. She was married, she had impulsively gotten married to a man she knew nothing about. Clara felt the compelling urge to run away, but she had already committed the act, there was no going back anymore. "Are you alright?" The sound of Lucian's voice pulled her out of her thoughts, she looked up at him a little bit confused, wondering why he was asking that question. "You look like you are in a bit of regret for getting married to me." Lucian muttered, stepping closer to her. She looked around, his friend was nowhere to be found. He had introduced him to her as his friend and his lawyer. They were standing all alone in the office. Clara looked back at him and shook her head, she didn't regret her decision. Her decisions formed parts of who she was as a part. She could only learn from them and become a better person and make better decisions. From this, she knew not to make impulsive decisions ever again. "I have no regrets for making you my husband." Clara remarked, meeting his eyes. She knew nothing about this man, just his name and his car which stood out because it was a newly released collection from the Range Rover sports collection. "That's good then." "Let's go." Lucian said, gesturing towards the door. "Where are we going?" Clara asked, surprised that he was asking her to go. "Our home. It was my house, but now it's ours. We can discuss the details of our marriage there and get to know each other better." Lucian remarked, wondering where else. Clara bit her lips, she had forgotten that the requisite requirement of marriage was living together in the same house. Was she ready to do that? She had no choice. "Emmmm, can you text me the address? I'll come over immediately I am done with my work. I still have to report to the company and get my job done." Clara asked, hoping he would not say no. Lucian hummed, then nodded, he also had work to do but being the CEO, he could escape work anytime he deemed fit. "I will text you the address then. I guess we will see later in the day, have a great time at the office, wife."
