Chapter FourteenOver the baby monitor, I can hear the sweet little voice singing nursery rhymes grow softer and quieter, the lull of sleep nearly minutes away. I settle into my own bed and can feel the comfort of cool sheets, pillows, and soft bedding erase the tension and stress almost immediately. My morning with Jess was relatively calm, but still, this is my quiet time. Time to recharge my ability to stay sane as a wife and mother, and keep the frazzled and sometimes psychotic side contained. My bed is my refuge, and used only for sacred acts like sleeping, fornicating, and fantasizing. With Jess finally asleep, my mind depresses the clutch and shifts gears, engaging my survival mechanism like a well-oiled machine. I effortlessly slip out of Mom Mode and slide right into Escape Mode,
