The class was pretty boring because she had been taught the lesson back at new Jersey ,but yet she tried to look focused and enjoy the class ,she couldn't wait till it was lunch time so she could leave ,she kept checking her wristwatch and as it was time for the bell to be rung she gathered her things and stuffed them in her bag , because if they was anything she learnt in her other schools it will be to leave for lunch early before anyone noticed but just as she was about leaving ,she heard her name "miss Winters can I see you "looking up she saw the teacher giving her an intense stare ,"what was it with her and bad luck why did it always come to her"she thought, rolling her eyes as she picked up her bag and walked towards the teacher,now the class was rowdy and everyone seemed to be giving her side glances ,ignoring all that she walked even faster and when she got to the teachers table she quickly spoke
"sir,you called me"she said anxiously drawing his attention to her
"miss Winters, welcome to valleyhigh I am Mr Freddie the new geography teacher ,how has your day been?"he asked so genuine and calm that she couldn't stop herself from responding
"thanks for asking,my day has been great" she lied
"that's really good to hear " he said but then something drew his attention as he looked behind her
"miss Chloe , do you have something to say or do you just like standing in my class "he asked with that same gentle tone but with a touch of irritation , looking back she noticed some girls giving her dead eye looks ,while the one he called Chloe turned red and uttered a quiet
"sorry sir"
before bolting out of the class ,the other girls slowly followed suite and soon she was left alone , looking back at him she saw him giving a wide eye smile which felt totally akward ,so she just smiled back
"anything else sir?" she asked
"can I go now"she said as she started walking out
"yes that's all miss Winters I'm looking forward to seeing you again"
"thanks Mr Freddie"she said as she walked out of the class, students were gathered around the hallway so it was easy for her locate the cafeteria ,as she entered she could see the tables were filled so she walked to a bench at the corner of the cafeteria and sat to eat , removing her vegie sandwich from the bag ,she brought out the beef she had snuck into her bag when her mom was not looking ,her mum was a good cook but was also a vegetarian but for her ,reverse was the case because she had no cooking skills and loved to eat meat although she tries as much as possible to hide it from her mum she knows her mum knew about it ,so she removed the veggies and replaced them with the beef and made to take a bite when she heard someone say
"here this will go nice with that" the voice said , looking up she saw a small can of ketchup being pointed at her ,smilling, she looked at the boy who was now smiling back at her
"hey" she said
"hi am Daniel but you can say Dan for short"
"nice,am Ami Winters ,am new in valleyhigh "
"yeah,I know that"
"ok"
"well I saw you pass by and have been watching you ,I guess no one likes veggies anymore right"
"yeah ,they suck my mum wouldn't stop feeding me with them"
"yes I know that feeling , anyways you can have the ketchup, I bet it will taste divine with your delicacy"
he said waving the ketchup at her face
"yeah I guess so too , thanks" she said collecting the ketchup from him
"so why don't you come and eat at my table I bet there'll be enough space for you "
"I don't know, am really comfortable here " she said in a rather dismissing tone, though she didn't mean to be rude ,she just didn't want to have to face more people today
"but you're sitting here all by yourself , don't you feel bored?"
"I don't really feel bored "she lied knowing fully well that she was bored to hell ,she was sure today bit all her shitty first days of school ,she smiled at him as she took another bite from her sandwich ,she took her time to chew savoring the taste ,she couldn't help but think he was right ,the ketchup made the meal more tasty , she made a groin of satisfaction and made to take another bite when she felt eyes on her ,she looked up. and saw he was still standing there staring at her giving up with a sigh
"alright alright you can lead the way " she said as she packed her food and stood up ,he smiled at her and led her to a table, there were three other people sitting in the table ,he ushered her to sit before introducing her
"hey guys meet ami ,she's the new girl everyone is talking about and Ami meet Kelly, Jami and tassy ,you can call Kelly brown if you want "
"hey everyone, nice to meet you "
"nice to meet you Ami"they all said
"so Ami which school where you transferred from" Dan asked
" no I wasn't transferred ,my mum and I recently moved here and this was the school closest to the house , so that's why I'm here"
"ok that's nice" Dan said , they talked for another ten minutes before the bell rang and she was already feeling like she'd known them since forever, they all had field and track class so they went together ,only departing when they got to the changing room but as she went in she remembered that she forgot her shorts in her locker ,she hurriedly left and was on her way to the locker room when she heard noises down the hall ,she tried to keep calm and proceed but then it kept calling unto her ,she turned and was about going in the direction of the noise when she felt someone's hand on her shoulders startling her
"you should learn to use the map given to you so you won't keep getting lost around here " a woman said sternly ,she recognized the woman as Marrietta the hall monitor "am sorry "Ami said as she hurried to leave "where are you going to?"
"the locker room"she said as she tried to avoid the woman's eyes
"then you're going the wrong way again, the locker room is by your left " Marrietta said giving her a smile that was obviously fake ,she could tell the woman disliked her so she quickly left and got her shorts ,on the way back she glanced at the place which was always calling her ,she thought she heard something but quickly dismissed the thought and went to class
