Wolf made frequent trips out of camp in the evenings looking for Shadow and his mate. A few times he found them, for he wolves made it hard; constantly on the move, and were within an easy ride from camp only about once a week. Every time he went to them he made sure he had a gift of a rabbit. When he asked the Raven about taking a deer the knight soundly denied him permission. Then the knight lectured Wolf harshly, because they had spent a lot of effort to spare a deer. He couldn't have it both ways. The wolves would have to hunt deer on their own. With summer camp about half over, the page enjoyed the mother wolf's good graces and was allowed to run with the pack.
