The Devil's Cathedral St Peter Cathedral, Badagry, Lagos (British colonial settlement) 1920 On Pentecost day, around 1:00 am in the church upper room, a group of white bishops, black bishops, and priests gathered for a meeting. They were arguing the acts and arts of exorcism. The bishop of London rev.fr. Bigard Cardiff and his escort rev.fr. John Mayors argue that the art of santificial exorcism be taught and brought to Lagos as the cathedral in London is getting frequent journalist reports of strange happenings and supposedly demonic activities in Lagos. They argued that the British monarch entrusted the duty of assimilation of Lagos through churches, schools, hospitals, and so on to the Catholic Church as the government cannot practice assimilation because it is failing in French colonies. Bishop Bigard said they can't let all that fall into the hands of the devil and that the archbishop has authorized them to teach and carry out an exorcism in Lagos. The Bishop of St. Peter cathedral, Bishop Conrad Wesley is shocked on hearing that they are authorized to carry out exorcisms, so he intensifies his argument stating plainly that they already had an existing style or art of exorcism in Lagos. He said he has been studying Man, The Devil, and God his whole life and that he has a new art of exorcism. He called it the Exorcism of Bargain, he believes light and darkness could come to terms with a bargain. He had to offer up something to command respect in the realm of the spiritual. The Bishop of London is shocked and a bit confused on hearing this, he begins to query them and tells them that light has no business with darkness and can never come to terms and so, therefore, what they practice is not exorcism." You don't make a deal with the devil" he added. After getting information from the bishop of Lagos about his new art of exorcism, he confirms his fears and doubts stating to Bishop Conrad that the new art was not his work but that of the third previous Bishop of London, Bishop Goodman Doyle in 1807. Bishop Bigard was confused about how Bishop Conrad got the information. The information is contained in one piece in the Journal of The Exorcist Theory that was prevented from being published and was hidden away in the London cathedral. Then Bishop Conrad laughs at him for not realizing it earlier and now revealed that he found it where the church hid it when he was still a young seminarian and has been studying it all that while. He said that was what he meant by saying he has been studying it his whole life and further added with a mischievous smile that he has no intention of plagiarizing the long-gone Bishop's work. He tells the bishop of London that it was why he left London for a colony like Lagos where he could practice the theories without being watched. Bishop Bigard tells him that he has to stop the act and allow his diocese to be exorcised. He gets a plain NO from Bishop Conrad who further argued that those in London just stay there and enjoy the wealth of the throne and give them in the colonies orders without even considering what they in the colonies had to face. They are trying to bring a new religion and doctrine to a race that has their psychology long rooted in paganism and they always had to face physical rejection and abuse and most at times, spiritual attacks from the Demons that now possess the Idols these people worship. He said a lot of priests have lost trying to perform an exorcism of sanctification and that he is not ready to keep losing. The Bishop of London reminds him that this is the path he chose for himself and should thread it without looking for an easy way out. Bishop Conrad answers by saying, he couldn't wait for the Slow Hand Of GOD. Bishop Bigard of London gets angry and tells Bishop Conrad that he has to come back to London with him and relinquish power to another bishop but Conrad announces to him that he won't be going back to London but will stay and see how it works. Just then, the two London delegates are seized and a secret door is opened then we see long narrow stairs that are filled with darkness, leading straight down to the church basement. They are taken down there and the torches are lighted. The basement looked haunted and like a place that is used for rituals; well! It is used for rituals. Bishop Conrad then declares that they are about to summon powers for Pentecost Miracles and they tie the London delegates to a heathen cross as they set up for the rituals. When they were done, he asked the delegates to join his course but Bishop Bigard spat on his face and tells him he doesn't know what he is doing. Bigard's wrists are cut open so he starts bleeding, his blood passed through the channels that formed the Star of David, then they begin the rituals as the bishop is bleeding to death. After the ritual, A strong wind begins to blow in the city, so the whole light in the cathedral goes off and the bishop dies. Beelzebub has been summoned and he possesses one of the priests so the priest becomes violent. The room is filled with strange occurrences (banging of doors, frequent vibration, and levitation of the possessed priest). Beelzebub then asked who summoned him and the Bishop tells him that he needs powers for Pentecost Miracles. Beelzebub tells him that he can give him that, but what will he get in return. The bishop tells him to take three unclean souls in the city. The Demon asks for ten but the bishop tells him he can spare only five. Beelzebub then agrees. But we see in the cathedral, behind the courtyard, a priest and a nun having i*********e, but when we see their eyes, it is darkened and their face pale and like that of dead humans. What we see shows evident signs of demon possession, turns out Asmodeus managed to come along with Beelzebub. Asmodeus is the demon king of lust. In the basement, Beelzebub leaves the room multiplied into four of himself as the bishop is overwhelmed by the new power he possesses, not knowing he is one of the five people possessed by Beelzebub. Bishop Conrad now asked the priest that came with the bishop of London, rev fr. John Mayors to join them and become one of the most powerful Catholic priests. He further explained to him that if he doesn't join he will be killed and more demons summoned meaning his sacrifice would be in vain. The young priest after seeing all that has happened is afraid and perplexed. He accepts to join as he has no choice. He managed to steal the journal and gets to a journalist, Ayo Younger Freeman, and relays all the information to him. The priest out of guilt and being a young priest without experience killed himself the night after telling Freeman Esquire. What he has seen. The journalist then realizes how serious it is and gets more serious with research and investigation as the news that went back to London about the delegates was that the priest killed the Bishop and killed himself. We then see Beelzebub possess three people in badagry and finally, a nun in the cathedral whose face undergoes a sudden change.
