Chapter 8

Sandra & Sam's POV

"Don't you remember me ?I am your husband we got married yesterday."

As soon as these words left his mouth and registered in my brain I froze.

I completely FROZE

So that was all TRUE.That was not a dream.

Each and everything that Daniel .....has done ........has said.....was just T R U E.

I always wanted the truth.

But never in my life ,I had ever realised that truth can be, CRUEL ,so much cruel, that it can shatter your life, break your heart and can just break everything about you.

I feel like crying but I just cannot cry, how much harder I tried.

I felt numb, like really numb.

I always relied on my heart to take all the important decisions of my life.

How wrong I was!

Now that my heart has gone haywire, my brain has to start taking decisions.

I cannot stand like a statue for my whole life.

I have to face the situation that is in front of me.

And what a situation to face after such a terrible heartbreak.

I got married to an unknown man !!!

But is it really possible  I cannot be that much stupid to marry any random guy out of nowhere

And what about this man either

I don't know him and he don't know me then how we got married?

I may not be in my correct senses but where was his senses. He doesn't seem to be a psycho to me or Is he?

I just cannot believe whatever he is saying.

"This can't be true. How can I marry someone whom I don't even know?"

I tried to be firm and remain calm but my voice came out as a low whisper.

" You don't believe me? See it yourself." and with that he showed me his laptop, showing the current news and everywhere was my pic, He was holding me in bridal style while coming out of a Church.

Sandra

You stupid stupid girl!! This time you have just gone too far. You just got married like that !

You created a mess and now you have to clear it.

Think sandra,think fast!!

Married!

Married!!

Divorce!

Yes Divorce!

If I got married by mistake, I should get Divorce as soon as possible.

"Let's get Divorced then." I told him.

He looked taken aback.

Sam

What! Divorce!!

"What? Do you think it's a child's play? You can't get married one day and get divorced the next day. You just cannot do it Ok. We just got married yesterday .I am your husband and you are my wife. It has to remain like that for...."

Sandra

I cut him off.

"What is this nonsense you are talking about? What marriage? Whose marriage ? Do you even know the meaning of marriage? Marriage is a commitment of a lifetime to love him or her selflessly. We don't love each other. Hell! We don't even know each other. This has to stop now. I need a Divorce and that's final."

I told him as a matter of fact.

Sam

The nerves of this little Brat! How dare she to talk to me in this tone. Nobody has ever talked to me like that except my parents of course!

But , I cannot let her go. What I will tell to my parents and what about that paparazzi. If they will know that I got divorced only after a day of my marriage that will be a total disaster.

"No, No, No!! This is not acceptable. You want to know me, see I am Samuel Carter, and I know you, you are Sandra... "

She cut me off again.

What is her problem? Why she is not allowing me to complete my sentence?

But seriously Sam, knowing the names?? You could have done much better. I mentally rolled my eyes at myself.

Sandra

"Man, just grow up. It's not just about knowing each other's name we should know ea...."

She was trying to prove her point but this time I cut her off.

Sam

"There is no need for that. It's just for an year. You know that. Don't you !"I tried to persuade her.

Sandra

This is ridiculous. What is he trying to imply.

"Now What the hell are you talking about? What do you mean by an year?"

Sam

Is she kidding me? Was she  seriously sleepwalking when she was signing the contract  at the time of our marriage?

"You seriously have Amnesia girl. Can't you remember you signed a contract that our marriage will last only for an year?"

Sandra

Now what is this rubbish he is talking about? What contract and what one year?

This is just too much to take. My head is really spinning now. Can marriage be a contract for anyone?This man

here is really crazy for sure!

"I don't know anything. I just want a divorce. There are certain things I need to do, I need to fulfill in my life. I just cannot marry any random guy."

Sam

She called me a random guy!!Is she really out of her mind. Well I don't think she has a brain either.Signing a contract, marrying me and now she don't remember anything. Airhead!

But no I have to persuade her at any cost by hook or by crook

"What are you saying? You just cannot back off now? This is a CONTRACT that you have signed. It can have legal consequences "

Sandra

Is he trying to threaten me now

"What legal consequences you are talking about? You just can not force me to be with you."

Sam

Did she just mention force. I had never forced her. She should know that.

"See you have signed this contract at your own will. Nobody had forced you. But now that you have signed the contract, you have to abide by it."

"Look I am willing to compensate you and it has been already written in the contract. If you want, I can increase the amount. Just tell me how much you want ."

Sandra

What does he think of himself? Why cannot he go and buy a doll for himself. Or is he implying that he want to purchase ME. Is he a human trafficker?

Jesus I cannot take it anymore

"Contract, Contract,Contract.. What is it? If I have signed a contract, there must be a way out of it. Do you want me to pay penalty to breach the contract? I am willing to pay. Tell me what amount you want?

Sam

What? she will pay me back!! Shall I take the clue that she do not want the money. Then what does she want? Everybody has a weakness but what is her weakness .I have to know it. I just cannot let her go at any cost. I have to coax her  to be my wife for an year.

I rubbed my forehead. There has to be a way out of it. I am a successful businessman and I have cracked many deals. I have convinced many hardcore businessmen.

She is just a simple girl still looking fragile.

I can't help but reminisce yesterday when she was signing the contract. At that time it seems to me that it is the simplest deal I had ever made.

I never thought that I will be having a headache to convince her.

I took a deep breath. I need to remain calm.

Suddenly, I remembered what my father used to say.

"There are many ways to convince a person. Money is of course the simplest and easiest way. But there are certain individuals, which cannot be impressed by your money. Then you have to look for other options. With those type of persons, showing arrogance or threatening them does not work.

You should be soft spoken and you should show your sincerity to them by your actions and emotions."

Soft spoken ...Emotions.... that is really not me. But I think I have to give it a try now.

I took a deep breath and rubbed my temples again.

You can do it Sam.

I sighed.

I moved towards the window of my room and I started looking outside.

I started speaking softly.

"See Sandra, I can understand that it can be really difficult for you to accept the situation you are in. Believe me, I never wanted to do it either. But I have my reasons. I had married you and now those who know me knows you as my wife. I cannot divorce you now. No one can divorce on the next day of their marriage! There will be a lot of questions on me and on my family. But I can assure you that I will divorce you once one year would pass."

She was still listening to me patiently. Good it means it is working

I turned and started moving in her direction. She was staring at me with some hard emotions in her eyes.

"You said that you had certain dreams and ambitions in your life. I can assure you that you can do whatever you want. You can pursue your dreams, your career, your ambition being in this marriage also, and I will support you."

I sat beside her and hold her hand gently.

"Please it is a matter of one year only and then you are free."

It was the first time that I am saying please to anyone with utmost sincerity.

She lowered her head as if thinking deeply.

My heart was beating hard.

Please say yes. I can't take a no as an answer

She released a deep breath.

"See this is a lot to process. I need some time."She said finally

"Ok, take your time but please try to consider my situation also."

I gave her a small nod and left the room.

This was so tough I just hope that she will say yes.

I went to my study to concentrate on some work. After about half an hour my phone rang.

I looked at caller ID. It was from Louis.

"What is it Louis?" I asked in a boring tone. It's already been a long day.

"Sir, it's about ....Err...... Mrs.Sandra? I have found out that she is not from here, so it was a bit tough to know about her background.

She was here to meet her boyfriend."Louis answered

"Boyfriend?"

"Yes sir, I am trying to find out his name but apparently he had betrayed her. I am trying to gather more information and I'll get back to you as soon as possible." He replied.

"Ok Louis!Try to find more and get back to me as fast as possible." I ordered him in my authoritative tone and hang up

So boyfriend! interesting!!
