Chapter Seventeen

1031 Words

~ Deceptive Descent ~ Thorn dominated my thoughts throughout most of my class. I scolded myself for not concentrating, but whenever the teacher turned away, my gaze shifted to Thorn, who sat beside me. Whenever our eyes met, he rewarded me with a captivating smile. Like any other girl, my heart fluttered. The whole day passed with my mind divided between studying and Thorn. When it was time to leave, he excused himself briefly, saying he needed to retrieve the car and asked me to wait for him in the school parking lot. But it's been over an hour now. I've been messaging him since earlier, and his last message was twenty minutes ago, saying, "Wait for me, Ada. I'll give you a ride." Why hasn't he arrived yet? I can see only a few students waiting in the parking area from where I stand.
