Chapter 15
Concentration was fairly fleeting once again as Macey sat in a pew next to Betsy and her husband Will on Sunday morning. Pastor Jerry’s message was well-timed and very powerful as he spoke about being honest with others about one’s feelings, and Macey did her best to hear every word, but every once in a while, she’d find her mind wandering off to thoughts of Sam. She knew it was important to listen to the sermon, so she fought to regain her focus each time she found herself slipping away. By the time the final altar call was over, she was mentally exhausted.
Macey gathered her purse and her Bible and began to make her way down the pew. “You okay, sweetie?” Betsy asked, following behind her. “Something seems to be troubling you.”
