I woke up just as the words faded from my head. Every morning I woke up with the haunting chant echoing in my mind and a sticky substance fading on my skin, but the more I tried to capture it, the more it was harder for me to recall.
I scrubbed at my skin from the washbowl, but it made no difference. Every morning, I felt the same.
The whole week had been surreal. It was like living in a different world. At first, I’d been terrified, but Blane’s eyes followed me everywhere that I went.
