Ch. 19: Plan to Spread

At first, I thought I heard it wrong, but the enthusiastic smile that had ran across my Dad's face is evident, and the proof that what I heard was right. He's not joking, wasn't he?

"Geuhan?", he called me when he noticed I just stared at him without saying anything. I snapped out when I realized it and ran to him to engulf him with a hug. Right now, I don't have anything else in my mind but to start planning everything else further after this.

"Dad, that's—that's fantastic!", I said and although everyone else were still out of it, smile drew across their face at the good news.

"So, what do we do about it?", I said and added, "How did you find out? How did we become the cure?", I asked him. I wasn't even able to let him answer the question before the other. He threw me an annoyed look but he just stood up in front of everyone and explained while carrying the kid on his arms.

"Soobok, Kahee, Heeshik, and I tested everything, and we tried to study about the blood of this kid, and you, Geuhan. After we found out that you have almost the same blood components that's different with ours, we thought there must be something.", he said and added, "And we found out there was."

"Soobok had kept a Violet Harpy's blood sample, and it turn out it was different from any of the samples we had—those blood sample from normal people, and those that came from you and this kid—we tried to run tests prior to find any cure, but when we tried to mix a bit of your blood to that Violet Harpy's blood sample, something majestic happened.", he said and paused to breathe since he said that without a proper breathing, as if he's on a rush.

"Sir, you can keep it slow.", Hyunki politely told him, and my father smiled at his kind remark.

"At first, we thought your blood went gone the moment it had a direct contact with the Violet Harpy's blood, but after watching it over for a few minutes, the blood components turned into normal blood, like ours.", he explained and I nodded.

"Now that you found such a good news, I have a plan to spread our blood samples and turn all those Harpies back to being normal.", I said but before everyone got to agree with me, Heeshik interrupted me.

"But Geuhan, that would be impossible. There are millions of Violet Harpies around the world, and you and this kid were just two. If you'll spread your blood like that, all your blood will not even be enough for the population in this city.", he said in worry and added, "In ratio, it'll be like 1:500 people. It wouldn't be enough. And if you even try, you'll just die out of blood.", he said and that changed my emotion drastically from being happy to devastated. Same as to dad and the others.

"There must be some other ways.", I murmured and thought through. There must be another way, but what would that be?

"How about we'll spread Geuhan and that kid's blood on us, so we'll have the same blood? So the proportion of the people who has the blood same as yours will be much more than just the two of you?", Jaehwa said, seriousness ran across his face.

"That could be possible. But we haven't tested that yet, so we don't know how you or your blood will react to it.", Dad placed his fingers on his chin as if it'll help him to think through.

"Damn. It sounds like we'll be like, a mutated creature or hybrid.", Soljun said which made the serious atmosphere lift a bit.

Younghoon interrupted, "If that would be possible, we could gather the harpies that turned into normal and ask them to carry the blood same as Geuhan and the kid's. It would be easy to spread the cure if many people will help and volunteer."

"Yes, your idea guys were incredible but we're not sure about the side effect. We just had witnessed how the violet virus affected Geuhan, imagine how it would affect us all if we're about to contain her blood. We should be careful to plan everything out slowly. We might bring everything to much worse.", Dad almost said in all disagreement, but he still had the hint on his voice that he has hope.

That's one of Dad's problem sometimes, being afraid to take risk for opening new possibilities. He would think positively at first, but when everything turned down, he'd lose hope and will be afraid to risk.

"Shall we run some test again, sir?", Soobok suggested, and I mentally thanked him for saying that.

"Yeah, Dad. Run some test. I know I am part of your pack as scientists, but I can't help now. You know there's possibility that the harpies will come at us anytime. And, I am still planning something. I am planning for our next plans, and another one after that if it'll fail.", I excused. But in fact, I am afraid I will ruin their experiments and tests since they started it without me.

Dad hesitated, but he just nodded after he went to their "lab" room with Soobok, Kahee, and Heeshik.

I carried the kid and brought him towards Dokhun, who created hand-made toys with plastic caps and a box. It was a toy car.

"Never knew he’s this creative.", Jaewook beamed and the older just smirked proudly before he let the kid play with the toy.

"Wow, that's a glow up. You went from someone who doesn't have anything to do with life to someone who does.", Yowoo joked, which made us laugh despite the knowledge of danger anytime. Dokhun threw him the scraps of the box and Yowoo just laughed at him.

"Well, Doyun is better fighter than you.", Dokhun dissed Yowoo and the latter just gasped at his remark.

Yowoo moved his index finger like a sign of disagreement and said, "No, no. He ain't better than me," which automatically made Doyun look at him, trying to find strong proof to his hanged statement. "he's the best than any of us.", Yowoo continued and fist bumped with Doyun. These dorks.

"But, isn't Geuhan the best?", Yul said which made me slightly smile at his compliment. he really didn't have to said it with a wink.

"Yeah, I think she's the best.", Younghoon and Hyunki said simultaneously which made both of them shocked so they chuckled at it.

"No, I wasn't. I agree about Doyun.", I said, and they couldn't disagree anymore.

"This is fascinating.", the kid said while he played with his hand-made toy.

I looked at him and asked, "What is?", he smiled without looking away with his toy and answered with his cute way of saying,

"Seeing a lot of things now, unlike before."
