Chapter 1 “Sorrow”
“ تیرے چلے جانے کے دکھ نے چھیں لی یے
مسکراہٹ، کیا بیتہاشا ہستے تھے ہم بھی”
Chapter 1
“Kya kar rhi ho tum?”
(What are you even doing?)
Her mother asked her with widened eyes filled with sorrow and fear, Haya loosened her grip on her gun and let it fall on the floor
“Ami please, mat karein aisa chali jayein”
(Mom, please don’t do it to me, Go!)
she mumbled softly to her mom, as she down casted her eyes and limply fell on the couch. Haya’s mom leaned closer as she placed her finger beneath her jaw and forced it up to her face level
“Speak now, thats what I’ve grown you up to be? A goon!? Are girls supposed to act like this, Walk proudly with a gun and kill people for her so called father’s business?”
She yelled at her, her sharp voice echoing in the empty room breaking the eerie silence as Haya looked back at her
“You never acted like a mom, now for what do you care?, my father had grown me up, he had taken care of me, NOT TO BE AFRAID OF SOME SCUM BAGS AND LET GO OF WHATS MINE, EVEN IF I HAVE TO LOSE MY LIFE IN IT! I will do it”
the grip her mom, Shafiha had on her jaw loosened as she closed her eyes letting a tear fall down her neck eventually down casting her eyes from Haya, who fearlessly had her face inches close to her mom, stiffed and straight
“Mom look at me” she held her mom’s face in her hands as she made Shafiha look at her in the green orbs.
“Kuch kahnay ko baki reh gaya hai, Haya?, koi tana?”
( has anything been left to say? Haya?, any taunt?)
Shafiha stared deep into her Daughter’s eyes with tears of un expectation of what she had been in the dark and still she was unaware of the whole truth.
“Nai ami, nai. Meray pas apkay ilawa aur koi nai hai yakeen maanein mera wo matlab nai tha. Wo mera gussa tha, aap toh meray pyar se wakif hein ap toh mere sath aisa mat karein,
( No mom, please don’t do it to me, you are the only one I have and I swear I didn’t mean that, that was my madness my insanity, but you are aware of my love for you isnt it?, please mom don’t do it to me)
“Tum jaisi beitiyon ka koi thikana, koi ghar nahi hota beta”
(Daughters like you have no place, no home)
Shafiha detached her hands off her Jaw as she got up and slowly walked her way out of her dark room. Haya’s breath hitched with an only sentence echoing inside her head
“tum jaisi beitiyon ka koi thikana, koi ghar nai hota”
A tear slipped away as she let her muscles relax, slowly throwing her head on the side of the sofa and resting it there
Flashback
Haya hugged the red gown, trying to show it off to herself, the beauty and charm of it as her laugh echoed radiating pure happiness and joy off her figure
“Baba ap yakeen maanein ye bohot pyara hai, aur chlein shukar hai koi toh hai jisnay mujhe ek chance diya, Michael ka proposal reject krnay kay baad ami nay toh jaisay mujhe apni mohabbat se aagh hi kardiya hai”
(Dad, Im glad that you bought me this dress, its so lovely, and I’m happy to know your support with my decision because on the other hand, after rejecting michael’s proposal it feels like mom has abandoned me)
Her lips curled into a smile, reflecting her happiness, as her Father leaned his back on the chair and smiled at her
“Meri beti meri Jan hai mera man hai mera jahan hai, meri har khushi ek shakhs se hi wabasta hai, tumhari ami ko kabhi khush nahin kar saka phr bhi Itna bara tofa diya hai khuda nay mujhe”
(My daughter is my world, my life and my pride, my reason of my happiness is just you because I couldn’t make your mom happy no matter what but Still God gifted me such a beautiful and happy daughter)
he explained to her and she smiled giving her father a side hug as she mumbled to him
“You should give a try, give this dress to Mom, she’ll love it”
at her gift and happiness he smiled as he placed his hand over her head
“Allah tumhay hamesha khush rakhay”
(May Allah always keep you this happy)
Flashback ended
Haya cried her heart out loudly with a pounding head.
“I couldn’t get her the happiness she felt when you gifted her that gown, I’m sorry Abu”
she cried until her eyelids felt heavy and she drifted to a deep sleep, her eyebrows eventually relaxed as a strand fell over her face
