After mister Albert asked the question, Richard looked his grandfather in the eyes for some seconds and then he gave his response. “No, I’m not calling off the engagement. It will happen,” he replied. “Though I wouldn’t want to do something like that, it's what my grandfather wanted and I must obey him. Hearing what Richard had just said, both Teresa and her father were completely shocked. Teresa raised her head, clearly confused. “What are they after?” Teresa thought to herself. “They have every right to call off the engagement. If they do, no one will blame them for it because I caused it. But despite the fact that I’m pregnant, they still want to continue with the engagement. Something is definitely not right.” “Looking at her disgusting face is trying to make me want to purge,” Richard thought to himself. “I just hope that you don’t live to see the light of another day. I can’t believe I’m really going to get engaged to someone as ugly as her. Wait, so I’m really going to welcome another man’s child and even raise the child in my home. This is so unfair.” Richard kept cursing Teresa and her family in his heart. He just hoped all of this was just a dream he could just wake up from. The Donalds were a wealthy and powerful family. They had a lot of investment that yielded billions. Although the Alberts were also rich, they were nothing to be compared with the Donalds. Mister Albert found it difficult to let go of the Donald's family. He saw his daughter getting married into such a prestigious family as an opportunity to save his dying company and also to be recognized with such a highly respected and influential family. He realized that the connection was going to improve his status and reputation in the society. Mister Albert felt relieved after the response that Richard gave. He let out a deep breath he was not sure he was holding. “Thank you for deciding to go on with the engagement,” he said appreciatively and then he stood up to shake Sir Donald and Richard. “I promise you Richard, as soon as the child is born, we are going to give it away.” Teresa, who had been staying quiet ever since the Donalds walked in, snapped. “No, you’re not going to do that,” she said, her pupils dilated with fear, her face drained of color. At that point, Sir Donald and his son, Richard, stood up, nothing minding the pain it would cost Teresa to lose her child. They were ready to take their leave. Just before they walked through the door, Sir Donald turned around to mister Albert and spoke to him. “Make sure you do as you have promised. The child must be taken away.” With that, he headed out of the mister Albert’s house while mister Albert saw him off. As soon as mister Albert returned, Teresa went on her knees as she began begging her father. “Please dad!” She begged, tears swelled up in her eyes, her lips trembling. “My unborn baby is innocent. Please don’t let it be separated from me as soon as I give birth.” Teresa had already had some sort of connection with her unborn baby. Almost every night, she would feel the unborn baby kicking in her belly. She enjoyed the feeling. And she couldn’t wait to get a hold of the baby when it is born. Now her father had already decided to ensure that the baby would be taken away from her even before she had a chance to hold the child in her hands. But mister Albert stood there, his face impassive, as he listened to Teresa’s pleas. With the look in his eyes, it was evident that his mind had been made up and he was not going to change it. “I’m sorry Teresa, I have already made up my mind. The child is going to bring nothing upon this family other than shame and dishonor. As soon as you give birth, the child will be out of your sight,” he said calmly. Suddenly after what mister Albert said, Teresa could not help but begin to feel her strength fading away, her eyes spinning. Before she knew what was happening, she was already on her way to the ground. But luckily for her, before she could hit the floor, mister Albert got a hold of her and the next minute, she was quickly rushed to the hospital. It was not the first time she would collapse since she was a kidney failure patient. So mister Albert was not surprised. In a matter of time after taking her to the hospital, he was expecting her to be alright. But unfortunately for him, day after day, Teresa’s condition didn’t seem to be improving. Instead, it was getting worse. If the needful was not done in time, it was possible the Albert family lost her and the child. Of course mister Albert did not want the child to live but he needed Teresa alive for the engagement. “Sir,” doctor Paul said, talking to mister Albert. “I think we should fly her out of the country. Her condition keep getting worse. Doing that is the only way to save her life.” “No! That is not going to happen,” mister Albert said, strongly refusing. At the point when doctor Paul was doing everything in his capacity to convince mister Albert who was constantly refusing to fly his daughter out of the country, Teresa’s aunt, Mary walked in. After doctor paul had gotten her informed about Teresa’s condition, she began making arrangements for Teresa to be fled out of the country to the United State to receive treatments. “If Teresa dies, you’re going to suffer the consequences,” mister Albert said assuring Teresa’s aunt, Mary. “Leaving her here is just like killing her. If we are really going to save her, then we should fly her out as doctor Paul has said. But since you’re not ready to do that, someone needs to act before it’s too late.” With that, Mary ensure that Teresa was taken out of the country to the United State. The main reason why mister Albert was refusing Teresa from being taken out of the country was because he did not want her to be out of his sight before the engagement. But if she dies, how can the engagement ever happen? With that knowledge, he agreed that Teresa be taken out of the country. Three months later, while Teresa was in the living room in her residence in the United States, she began feeling some waves of pain and fluid started to flow down her thigh. It looked like it was about time she was going into labor. “Cleo!” she shouted, calling the nanny who was living with her. Immediately the nanny discovered that she was going into labor, she quickly got a taxi ready and took her to the hospital. A few hours later at the hospital, the nanny brought out her phone and dialed mister Albert’s phone number. “Hello sir,” the nanny said. “I’m at the hospital with madam Teresa. She is about to give birth.” “Okay, I will be there as soon as I can,” mister Albert replied and then hung up the phone. As soon as the nanny ended the call, Teresa gave birth to a baby boy. The only reason the nanny called mister Albert was to let him know about her daughter’s situation, not because she wanted to contribute to mister Albert’s plan to cause Teresa the intended pains. Mister Albert knew that any time he wasted would only give room to Teresa’s child slipping away from his finger. If that should happen, the Donalds would not be pleased with him since it would definitely mean a breach of agreement. After a couple of hours, mister Albert finally showed up in the United state and he was on his way to the hospital. The only reason he was going to the hospital was just to take away the baby as he had promised the Donalds. “I’m happy for you,” the nanny said, talking to Teresa. “Your father is going to be here soon.” Teresa had no idea that the nanny had passed the information to her father. But as soon as the nanny told her mister Albert would arrive soon, she knew what was coming to her. She instantly became unrest. She realized she needed to act but she was too weak to do anything. “I’m not going to let him take my baby away from me,” she said, tears swelled up in her eyes.
