Richard’s eyes remained locked on Teresa’s eyes in anticipation for answer to the question he had asked but unfortunately for him, it looked like Teresa had no interest in telling him her name.
It was at that point that Xavier spoke up.
“My mother’s name is Teresa Albert.
Hearing that name, Richard could not help but furrow his eyebrows. “What a small world it is. The lowlife I’m waiting for bears the same name. I would…”
Before he could complete his sentence, his phone rang. It was his grandfather, Sir Donald. He was calling just to ask if Richard had seen the person he came to the airport to pick up.
“Excuse me. I have to take this,” Richard said, as he excused himself.
After about five minutes, he ended the call and was now returning to the where he had left Teresa earlier. But unfortunately for him, Teresa saw the moment when Richard was busy with his phone conversation as an opportunity for her to escape. Before Richard could finish his phone conversation, Teresa and her son were long gone.
“Damn it! I hope I see that pretty lady again some other time,” he said and he then continued waiting at the airport.
Four years ago before Teresa traveled out of the country, since she was a medical practitioner, she had a patient she was treating. The name of the patient was Sir Marcus, one of the richest persons in the country. Even the wealth of Sir Donald was nothing to be compared with that of Sir Marcus.
Ever since Teresa had disappeared from the country, no other doctors have provided a service that suit the taste of Sir Marcus. As a result of that, Sir Marcus instructed his son, Luke to look for Teresa.
Luke had done everything in his capacity to find Teresa but all of his efforts resulted in nothing but vanity.
Now that Teresa had returned to the country, as soon as she walked out of the airport, a call had been sent to Luke informing him that Teresa was now in the country.
“She must not get away,” Luke said in the phone, talking to the other person at the end of the line.
After Teresa left the airport, she decided to lodge in an expensive hotel that was just about two kilometers away from the airport.
A few minutes after she had settled, her phone rang. She looked at the phone screen only to see the name she was least expecting. It was her stepsister, Sophia.
At first she hesitated wondering why she was calling her. But there was only one way to find out. She had to pick the call.
“Hello, obesity,” Sophia said on the other end of the line, smiling softly. “Richard said he couldn’t find you at the airport. I wonder where you are right now,” she then paused for a second before saying her next words. “Wait, don’t tell me you were thinking of changing your mind about the engagement cancellation because if that is the case, it’s not going to work out. Richard and I have already had something serious going on between us and I’m not going to let you ruin it.” With that, she ended the call, not waiting for Teresa to respond.
Immediately Sophia ended the call, Teresa’s phone rang again. But this time, it was her father, mister Albert.
“You’re definitely not going to change one bit. I can’t believe you actually made a decision to keep us all waiting here. After all, you were the one who was constantly begging that the engagement be canceled and now you are nowhere to be found. I hope you will stop inflicting your bad luck on my family and get here now.”
“I will be there as soon as I can,” she said gently. And with that, he ended the call.
Teresa quickly changed into another beautiful clothes and carried a handbag that matched the color of her shoes.
“Honey,” she said, talking to Xavier. “Mommy is going out and I’m going to be back before you know it. If you need anything, don’t hesitate to talk to Cleo.”
She rubbed Xavier’s hair and gave him a soft kiss on the forehead. With that, she stood up, getting ready to head out to see her father who had been waiting for her.
It was rosy and beautiful at the Albert’s residence. A small gathering had been organized to celebrate the cancellation of Teresa’s engagement to Richard and to officially announce to the public the commencement of an intimate relationship between Sophia and Richard.
Around one corner of the room, about five people formed a small circle. They were having a good time, drinking and laughing as they were discussing something that seemed funny. This group of people consisted of Sophia and four other ladies.
“Whenever I woke up and the fatty ugly face girl was the first person I saw, I always cursed her in my heart and returned to my bed because if I didn’t, all I was going to experience that day would be nothing but bad luck,” Sophia said laughing broadly.
“I can’t picture myself living under the same roof with that b***h any moment of my life. When I looked at her, all I see was a filthy fatty glutton,” one of the ladies said, while others laughed with her. It was obvious they were enjoying making fun of Teresa at the moment.
It was at that point that Teresa’s cousin, Kate, who had been listening to everything they had been saying about Teresa, began walking closer to them.
“Stop!” she yelled. “Will you guys stop talking bad and body shaming Teresa for a minute?” she asked. “You guys are only here to celebrate your friend. Focus on that and stop talking about Teresa!”
The five ladies looked into each other’s eyes for a second and burst into laughter as if they had rehearsed it.
“Are we not stating the fact?” One of the ladies asked Kate. “Maybe if Teresa was as good looking as any of us, maybe we wouldn’t be here making fun of her.”
“Yes of course Teresa may be fat, but none of you is as pretty as she is now!” Kate said.
Although it has been years since she saw Teresa last. She had no idea how she was looking now. She only said that to make Sophia and her friends stop talking bad about Teresa.
Hearing Kate saying Teresa was prettier than Sophia and her friends, Sophia got upset. She walked closer to Kate and pushed her until she fell down to the ground and then she poured half of the wine in the glass she was holding on Kate’s dress.
“Next time, you watch your tongue when you’re talking to me and my friends. If not, I’m going to make your life a living hell,” Sophia said.
“I was just…” before Kate could complete her sentence, Sophia cut her off.
“Shut up! You have nothing to say!” Sophia yelled, commanding her. “By the time Teresa gets here, and she is now as pretty as you claimed, I put it to you that I’m going to kiss the ground with my lips but if she’s not, you’re going to do the same.”
“It’s a good deal,” one of Sophia’s friends said. “I’m going to enjoy watching this b***h kiss the ground. It will be an amazing video to share on the internet.”
Just as Sophia’s was about to pour the rest of her drinks on Kate, a pretty figure walked in. The figure was putting on a blue shirt over black trousers that fitted her slim body. Her black heels and her handbag matched the color of her jacket.
Her silky flowing hair cascaded over her shoulders in perfect waves. As soon as she walked in, everyone’s eyes were locked on her. Her beauty was unmatched and undeniable.
“Where on earth did this damsel come from?” a man asked in a voice that was barely above a whisper. He had forgotten he was standing next to his wife.
Teresa kept walking, carrying herself with an air of quiet confidence, her every movement exuding elegance.
As soon as she got to where Sophia and her friends were maltreating Kate, she grabbed Sophia by the hand just as Sophia was about to pour the rest of her drinks on Kate.
“Who is this lady?” one of the servers who saw Teresa grabbing Sophia’s hand asked. The server quickly ran up to Teresa just to let her know the kind of person she was messing with.
“Excuse me ma’am,” the server said. “I don’t know who you are but I’m certain you don’t want to mess with madam Sophia. She is going to get engaged to mister Richard soon. I want to believe you know what hurting her will bring upon you if mister Richard finds out. I will advise you to leave her and get out of here when you still have the chance to.”
Teresa, not minding what the server just said, let go of Sophia’s hand. She only did that because she did not want to cause any trouble at her father’s residence.
As soon as she let go of Sophia’s hand, she gave Kate a helping hand as she assisted Kate to stand up.
“Are you okay?” Teresa asked, looking all over Kate’s body.
“I’m fine,” Kate replied, looking directly into Teresa’s eyes. “Who are you?” she asked and then paused for a minute before speaking up again. “Are you by any chance Teresa Albert?”
