Chapter Two

Leviathan POV I leaned back in my desk chair and rubbed my temples. Running a business and a pack was not for the faint of heart. I wished I had been able to learn it from my father, but he died before I barely knew him. I shook my head, no murdered by the traitor Jedidiah Saint. I shook my head again to try to clear my thoughts. I took care of him after I turned 18. I had become Alpha of Night Walkers and found him during a run. I killed him in a fit of revenge. It was not my best day and we lost one of our own, but I have done what I could to make it up to the pack. I pushed back from the desk and stood up. I needed a run to refocus then I needed to go into my office in the city to focus on the merger that I was trying to pull together. I mindlinked my Beta, Titan, “I am going for a run then going into the city. I might be gone for a few nights trying to get this damn merger pinned down. Care to join me for the run?” I heard back from him quickly. “Of course. Meet you out back in 10.” I shut down the link and headed outside. Before I shifted and allowed Altair out, I stretched. It felt good after being cooped in that office all day. I would much rather train all day then listen to the business talk. It was important though to make sure Night Industries makes enough money to support the Pack. It would sure be easier with my mate by my side. I stripped and shifted into my wolf form. I could feel Altair taking over. “Thank you, Levi. I thought I was going to go crazy with all the work you have been doing.” I laughed at him. “You know we are about to be bogged down in work for the next few days. We won’t be able to shift and get out so let’s enjoy this run.” I saw Titan coming. He quickly shifted into wolf form and we ran. We pushed ourselves as far and as fast as we could. I could feel the sheer joy coming from Titan. I mindlinked him:                 “Enjoying yourself?”                                 “Oh, definitely Levi. It was exactly what we needed. Lex needed to stretch his legs. Race?”   I smiled and Altair started pushing himself harder to pull himself in front of Lex. Lex tried to overtake us, but my Alpha bloodline allowed for my extra strength and stamina. He was not far behind though. I laughed at him as he tried to trip me up. We burst through the forest back into the backyard with me ahead. We both shifted back into human form. I laughed at him while pulling on my clothes. “You know you should never ask me to race. I have and will always beat you.” Titan pushed me over. “I thought maybe business was making you soft.” I growled and jumped on him wrestling him to the ground. “Say sorry!” Titan struggled to get leverage. “Never!” We wrestled for a few more minutes until it was clear he was never going to get ahead. I barely heard the whisper “Sorry”. I tightened my grip and in a singing voice said, “I can’t hear you!” He growled lightly and yelled “I said sorry old man!” I laughed and let go. He got up quickly. “I can order you some hearing aids if you need them!” He then ran away laughing like a maniac. I shook my head and walked back to the house. Titan was my best friend and would mess around, but he knew when to get serious.   I went inside the pack house and grabbed a quick sandwich. Our cook, Mrs. Miller, tutted at me. I smiled at her. “You know, Alpha, you need to eat something more after a run like that.” I shrugged. “I am going to hit the showers. Can you pack some food for me? I am going into the city for a few days and no one cooks as good as you!” She blushed and got to work. I walked up the stairs. The main level was open for all. The second level was Titan and Jericho’s along with some guest bedrooms. The third level was mine. It housed my bedroom, an extra bedroom, and 2 offices. I made my way into my bedroom. It was huge, but I didn’t care. My bathroom had the best shower though. It had jets around three walls causing water coming out on all sides. I made quick work of a hot shower then dressed in a suit. I packed for at least a week. I didn’t plan to be there that long, but I was going to be stuck until I could convince the other company to let me buy them out. It was going to open our revenue stream tenfold. I mindlinked Titan.   “I am about to leave. You are in charge while I am gone. Any emergencies let me know and Altair could get me here quickly. Please fill in Jericho and lean on him as needed.”   “Yes Alpha. Everything will be taken care of.”   I closed the mindlink glad Titan was in business mode. He took pack business very seriously, even if he was not the most serious person. Jericho, our gamma, usually was able to keep us on track. Now he was a serious person, all business. I loaded up my truck with my bag and the food from Mrs. Miller then left for the city. It was about an hour drive so I could have made the drive every day, but it would take time away from figuring this out.   Unknown POV I found the usual two rogues that helped me rid the land of the nasty little females that riddled the land. They were here to serve and those who didn’t serve a master deserved death. We headed out silently into the night. We waited until she went inside for good until we got close enough to hear. We had to be careful she couldn’t sense us while in her wolf form. We stayed in our wolf forms so that we could hear when she fell asleep. Her senses when she is human would not be able to detect us out here. Once her breathing became deep, we shifted, and I grabbed the bottle that I stole to help knock the whores out. We entered her hut to take our prize.   Elenora POV My senses were on high alert. I could feel danger coming, but I don’t know where it was coming from. I shifted into my wolf. “Let’s do a sweep before bed. Something doesn’t feel right.” We did an involved sweep of the perimeter, but nothing out of the ordinary was detected. We went back into the hut and shifted human again. I made sure the door was shut tight and I laid down, looking into what was to be a restless night. To my surprise, I feel asleep after only a few hours of tossing and turning.   What only seemed like minutes I felt someone press a cloth against my face. I started to struggle and tried to shift, but I was blacking out too quick. The last thing I felt before I was completely out was someone lifting me out of bed.
