Chapter 21 Apologies The next few days seemed to pass with an agonizing slowness that only I could feel. It was like a year was trapped in only seventy-two hours for me, but everyone else was moving at a normal pace. It was horrible, and the only time I felt relief were the brief moments alone that I was able to steal for myself. I spent most of my time avoiding Mackenzie because I knew there was a horrendous confrontation on the horizon of our friendship in which I could not lie. There was only so far trust could be pushed, and I had a lingering feeling that I had shoved Mackenzie completely over that cliff.
