Klay P.O.V.
Next, I guided Carrington out of my office and upstairs towards my personal wing.
Initially, I was going to place Carrington far away from me, but I wanted her close by now.
While Carrington is resting.... I need to have a quick staff meeting.
"So what do you have the taste for tonight? I can order it and have it ready.... at let's say 7:30 p.m., or would you prefer eight o'clock?" I quizzed as I escorted her upstairs.
"Order? I don't understand." she responded, looking up at me puzzled.
"Part of the perks of owning a hotel and living in the penthouse. I get to call for food whenever I desire it, and it gets here within minutes." I admitted, smiling at her.
"Nice!" she commented, smiling up at me.
"Please! Feel free to order anything anytime you want. It's free. Just pick up the phone and hit zero. I want you to feel at home." I told her warmly.
"Thank you for your kindness and generosity. I like mainly Italian, Chinese, American, Seafood and Soulfood dishes. How about lasagna or chicken Parmesan if it's not too much trouble? And eight o'clock would be good. I have not been sleeping well lately. So a nice hot bath and a good nap sounds wonderful right now." Carrington confessed, making me eager to find out what exactly has been going on in her life to prevent my little kitten from sleeping soundly.
"So Italian it is! Get some rest and here is your bag. Any questions? Do you need anything?" I asked calmly as we stood next to the guest bedroom, right beside my master bedroom. Carrington placed her overnight bag on her other shoulder after taking it from me.
"No! I believe I have everything I need for now! Just curious....what's the dress code for dinner? I don't want to look out of place or embarrass you." Carrington replied, sounding nervous as she looked up at me and then quickly around the hallway.
"It's just me and you tonight. Talking and trying to get to know each other. Nothing fancy. I promise." I informed her as I began to feel anger and frustration boil up in me.
I want Carrington's eyes on me at all times. Is that too much to ask for?
"That sounds good! Thank you, again." Carrington said.
"You are so very welcome, Carrington. Get some rest. I will stop by later to make sure you are up in time for dinner." I declared, and Carrington looked like she wanted to argue with me about being her personal alarm clock, but I raised one eyebrow, and then she got the hint fast.
I think Carrington and I will get along splendidly.
"Sounds like a plan." she expressed softly, dropping it all together like a good girl.
Then, I turned and walked away, heading to my office, again.

When I get back to my home office, Louis is waiting for me. No surprise there.
"Please! Tell me you didn't just burn up the documents I spent hours working on?" demanded Attorney Louis Carter, my family's personal attorney for the last ten years.
"Louis, you work for me, not the other way around. I am tired of reminding you of that fact. Moving forward, I want Fitzgerald assigned to my accounts effectively immediately." I ordered him, walking past him and settling in my chair as I pulled out my cellphone in order to contact my personal assistant, Scott.
"What the hell?!!" shouted Louis, clearly in shock and livid with me.
"You heard exactly what I said. Now get out."
Not bothering with him any further, I proceeded to contact Scott.
Scott answered on the third ring.
"I need to have a quick, primary staff meeting in my home office in the next hour or so. Please make sure Fitzgerald is present. Until further notice, I don't want Louis handling any of my accounts." I instructed him.
"Yes, Sir! Handling it now! I will get back with you shortly." replied Scott calmly.
"Thank you." I said as I looked over at Louis, who seemed to want to say something then thought better of it. I wait and look Louis directly in the eyes. Instead of making an ugly scene, Louis grabbed his briefcase and stormed out of my office and left without saying another word to me.
"Your welcome! But do you mind me asking what the meeting is about, Sir?" probed Scott cautiously.
"Sure! I want a full and thorough, detailed background check run on my future bride, Carrington Chadwick. I want to know what she ate for Thanksgiving dinner and where....whether she has ever had a boyfriend...how many....her last gyn exam....her favorite ice cream....whether she is close to her parents....most importantly, why she felt the need to be a mail-order bride, and why...she has been having trouble sleeping lately. Secondly, I want the staff to be fully aware of Carringon's presence in my life and I want to ensure they handle her respectfully at all times. I want security to make sure they step up a notch to secure our safety better. I want Fitzgerald to prepare a different set of documents as soon as I get my hands on my bride's report. Let's see if Fitzgerald can handle this simple task. In the meantime, I want you to start looking for a brand-new law firm to handle my accounts." I notified him.
"Sir! Are you expecting trouble or some kind of backlash? Did Louis do a bad job at picking a future Mrs. Klay Thornton?" inquired Scott, sounding worried.
"No! But, I wanted to be prepared for anything. Actually, Louis did something right for a change, but I don't care for how he treated her. Carrinngton Chadwick is nothing like how I pictured her or expected, but I am keeping her nonetheless. She is mine." I revealed to him. Fully, understanding that Little Miss Carrington Chadwick just walked into my life and changed every plan I ever had.
"Already, sir! Let me start working on things." conveyed Scott confidently.
"Good! See you soon. " I voiced as I ended the call, totally contended with firing Louis. It was long overdue. He has been overstepping his role for a minute, now.
