Chapter EightLilly was good at remembering geography. The flow of the North Equatorial Current came from the eastern Pacific, flowing west-northwesterly and up around the populated Hawaiian Islands. The overall current flowed all the way to the uninhabited northwesterly islands of the Hawaiian archipelago, like Nihoa, Necker and Tern Islands to the Gardner Pinnacles. As the current turned and headed southwesterly, it flowed between all the islands of the archipelago, all the way out to Midway Islands and Kure Atoll.
