Chapter four

Eve POV

So it’s been four days since I started working at W&S fashion world,and today is the first time t I am going to see the CEO of the company,it felt like I am going to write an exam . The secretary told me to go in, I took a deep breath and knocked, a voice said “ come in” which I did. There was no at the table as I walked in, I looked around and saw someone standing by the glass window,his coat neatly ironed he must be handsome having that kind of perfect body I thought “ hm good morning sir” I greeted to get his attention, he turned slightly and answered as he walked towards me

Holy crap, what? I mean what is he doing here, please God just let him be here for some other reasons

“ so,you’re Eve Nelson” he said, cutting me short of her thoughts

“ yes” I answered

So he can act like he don’t know me, good boy. Let’s Just make things between strictly professional. i told myself

“ so what, have you been up to”he asked

i told him about the assignment that i was assigned to do and some design that I needed to finish before next week.

“ ok then you can leave” Eve turned around quickly so as to avoid any other question

“ wait call Cindy for me on your way out” he ordered

“ ok” I said and left

Soon it was time for lunch I quickly grabbed my lunch bag and phone, went to the company eatery find a spot not to crowded quickly dialed Ella’s number

“Hello what’s up gal” she greeted

“ hey babe guess what”

“ hmm you bought a new dress”Ella guess

“ no that guy is the boss” I said in fear

“ c’mon gal any guy can be a boss, so who are we talking about” Ella ask

“ the one that I insulted” I replied

“ OMG tell me you joking, he is Mike smart?” Ella shouted

“ yes I just find out ...,.. and he is acting cold do you think he is going to fire me” I asked in fear

“ off course not, I am not in his mind, so how am I supposed to know, you know what babes just do your job and forget about him okay” Ella advised

“Yeah right, I will just do my own thing and forget that we ever meet”. We talked through the time we were at lunch.

“ Eve,Eve wait wait”, someone called as I walked out of the company

Who could be calling my name in that manner I turned around saw a guy running towards me

“ sorry for calling your name that way” he apologize as he came close.He was Adam one of the guys who worked as a tailor in the company

“ it ok” I replied

“ actually I just moved close to your neighborhood, so I was wondering if you would like we go home together” he asked innocently

“Sure that’s if you are walking with your own legs” I joked, we talked a lot as we walked

Mike POV

So she can even smile and chat freely with other people then what is wrong with her each time i try to talk to her, honestly she has a killer smile. He thought as he watched her from his office

For the rest days if the month Eve and Mike were able to avoid each other because of the preparations for next months

It’s the first day of November and every one of us in the designing room were expected to come up with some good for December to present at the board meeting. After putting somethings together Eve came up with a good and easy wear she and her team were ready to go.

Eve POV

At the meeting each team presented their work,which was really great, John and Mike check out for their errors and gave corrections were it was needed, soon it was time for my team to present ours. John was about to say something,when mike asked which team owned it.

“ it’s for Eve’s team, it look.....”

“ cheap ,and very unprofessional, how could you bring this here” Mike asked interrupting John

“ I was about to say good” John finished his sentence

“ I don’t need good, this company don’t need good we need best, because we are best”Mike stated

At that moment I hated him the more, for not just insulting my work but me, I looked around and found the rest team trying to hold their laughter, while I was typing to hold back my tears but I failed, and allowed them flow down my cheeks. The meeting was dismissed and every body went out giggling, whispering among them selves, I rushed to my table and cried myself out. After few minutes Cindy informed me that I was called by the CEO, i got up applied some powder to my face though my eyes were red, but I care less and drag my self to his office, as I was about to open the door,John opened it and gave me an apologizing look and left. As I step inside the office I saw him working on some files, I stood there without greeting even if I get fired, I really don’t care as long as I am going to tell him how much I hates him. After standing for what seems like forever he offered me a seat

“ no thanks”I declined calmly

“ I didn’t asked,i ordered” he said rising his head up to face me “ and don’t make it seems like you can stand, your legs can’t hold you for long” he added as he continued his work. He was right, after what he said to my work all the energy in me left,even my own confidence, I managed to take a sit,while he kept no saving the files on his laptop. It’s been 20 minutes since i entered here and the only sound I have been hearing is the sounds of the key board

“ why on earth did you call me here, to listen to your silence or what” I asked not minding my tone, after few more taps he stopped and take a breath before walking towards me

“ what is your problem”? He asked crossing his arms

“ really,is that why you called me, to know what my problem is, you want to know right, fine you’re my problem, and I am going to solve it right now. First I will tell you how much I hate you,i hate you to the very core, I hate you” i said almost in tears

“ really,is that all” he asked

“ I see you are the devil it self, how cruel can you be,tell me, how low can you stoop” this time I let go of my tears “ you can take revenge as long as you like but let me tell you,I will surely pay you for this great humiliation, I will” i said in assurances

“ I didn’t humiliate you on purpose, I said what I felt was right” he explained and tried to clean the drop of tears that was hanging on her cheek

“ take your dirty hands of me” i said as i pushed his hands off

“ I see you are unprofessional, you judge my work base on our personal issues right” i continued

“ Eve, I didn’t judged your work because of our differences okay, to be honest it was good,but not as it ought to be okay. I can’t just sit down and decide to hurt your feelings” he tried to explain. I gave him a serious glare and hissed

“ and what do you want me to get out of that” she sarcastically

“ I am sorry if what i said makes you feel insulted”.he apologized

“ if, you know what just forget it, because it won’t help” I said and left.

“Thank God it’s Saturday”mike said as he rose up from bed, he checked the time it was already 8 o’clock, he took a quick shower and dashed out of the house.

There was a knock at the door of Mrs Nelson ‘s home” I am coming” Mike heard a female voice said from inside

“Good morning ma” he greeted as the door opened

“ good morning dear, what can I do for you” she asked

“ I am looking for Eve, is she around?”Mike ask

“ no,she left for her morning exercise, she will soon be back” she answered

“In that case I will wait for her to return, by the way I am Mike”He introduced

“ I am Mrs Nelson pleads to meet you, come in” she offered him a seat and left Eve’s grandma walked in and greeted him they started talking, Mike was making some jokes when Eve entered the house and found mike laughing heartily with her grandmother, she just ignored them and went inside,she was about to close the door when Mike stepped in

“ what do you want” she ask

“ can I come in” he asked

“ you are in already, aren’t you?”she replied

“Thanks, I wanted us to talk about what happened yesterday” he said as he looked around, knowing how he was looking around the room,she quickly asked him to make him self comfortable. No doubt the room was in a total mess, clothes every were, pieces of papers almost covering the bed, magazines on every nook and corner, but I didn’t invite him so? Eve thought to herself. Mike created a small space for himself to sit. Eve started cleaning her mess,while Mike watched her every moves

“ if you have any thing to say just say it, and stop watching me like a silly cat” she blowed out

“ sorry if it boarded you” he apologized

Some she was done with her cleaning, she packed some papers into bag and placed it on chair Mike was sitting on

“ so you are done.can we discuss now” he asked her

“ I already told you that’s fine with me so, I don’t care if you have any plans to pull me out of the team work. I mean take look at my wardrobe, every dress you see their are my design and no one criticize me each time I wore them,instead they asked were I bought it from,and you just insulted me for presenting a piece of papers, tell me who does that”she replied in between tears. She left the room and went to take her bath. Mike sat down and listened to the drops of water, after a while the water stopped, after twenty minutes she came out in a pair of jeans and a t - shirt her hair still wet, she dried and styled it, “ when you’re done make sure you close the door” she said as she grab her bag and left the room

” slowdown,at least just hear me out” he said as he hurried to catch up with her, Eve rushed out and missed her foot Mike came just in time to grab her by the waist, at that moment she felt her heart beating faster than normal, as Mike slowly released his hands from her waist, her cheeks turned red, she quickly step down to avoid eye contact with him

Eve POV

What just happened, and why is my heart beating like this, maybe it’s due to shock, what bloody shock?this is not the first time I am missing a step before. “ are you okay” a voiced asked distracting my thoughts

“ yes I am fine, if you hadn’t followed me this wouldn’t have happened” she blamed

“ and if you had listened to me this wouldn’t have happened... and I wanted to tell you that you can do some design for the kids wear” he said

Eve POV

I feel like hugging him and tell him a big thank you, and we’re did that thought come from,i asked herself

“ thank you” i managed to say

“ you and your team can work on it,but you have to show me first before presenting it at the board meeting, that is if it’s okay with you” he added

“ sure there is nothing wrong with that” she replied smiling

“ can I drop you off” Mike asked

“ no I feel like walking around” she declined politely

“ ok then” he entered his car and speed off.

“ guess what girls, Mike allowed us to work on the kids clothes” she break the news as soon as Cindy and carol arrives on Monday

“ too good I won’t be on your team this time” carol said as she drop her bag on her table. “ yeah she left and joined mark’s team” Cindy added

“ oh I see good luck with that,and you Cindy, are you still with me or you’re planning to leave as well” she asked calmly

“ c’ mon girl, I don’t want to leave you, and also I want to do a design if my own than following someone’s commends” Cindy replied honestly

“ then we will start our work as soon as possible” Eve said in relief.

The day was indeed a busy day, Eve could barely have time for lunch, as she rushed to get her lunch bag Cindy called her and informed her that the MD asked her to go choose the material best for their clothes, so she quickly starts eating on her way to the MD’s office, as she reached the secretary’s table she stopped drank some water to push It down and take some few bites before turning to the door only to see Mike looking at her smiling,

“ you can tell John to give you a break if you want,oh I forgot your mouth is to full talk” he said jokingly as he walked away.

“How long has he been watching?” She asked turning back to the secretary who was trying hard not to laugh

“ since when you reached here, i guess you were so hungry to realize it” she replied this time letting go of her laughter, Eve felt embarrassed but still laughed at she silliness. The materials were great she selected some few colors to be used, and informed John that she and Cindy would be through by Wednesday..
