Chapter 005

NORA I used the whole day to read books that I bought while traveling back and some time spent on business related stuffs. A lot of people had been having network issues and stuff, which I tried resolving from here because it’s weekend and all bankers are out to relax, so I did it myself without disturbing anyone. “Mi lady, the car is ready!” A knock came in on my door with my dad’s driver’s voice. “Alright, I’m coming,” I glanced at myself one last time in the mirror before grabbing my phone and purse and heading out. I walked to the garage with the back passenger seat door opened for me. I got in and met Emma in already. She glanced at me, then looked the other direction. Oh my, oh my! What wrong thing did I say that she’s still angry about until now? The car drove into the road, and I decided not to say anything to her; maybe later she will come around. “How wicked are you?” I heard her hiss while mumbling some words to herself. “Meaning?” “You’re such a hard nut to crack, an apology from you would have been fine, but anyway I forgive you!” She said with a smile. Who’s supposed to be apologizing here? What a drama queen. The car came to a halt in front of a mansion. We got down, and damn, there were lots of cars around. “The Brown daughters!” I heard the most annoying and rudest voice that I will never forget. “Damon!” I called back, eyeing him from head to toe. He was dressed in a blue silhouette with his hair jetted back and an earring on his ear. Hmm…he wasn’t looking bad himself. “Come on, sis, let’s go!” Emma said, but I held her hand and stopped. “I just sent you a file, you might want to check it out!” I smiled before following her in. “Mr. Wilson!” I greeted him with a smile. “Brown daughters. I’m so glad you both are here!” He extended his hands for a handshake, which we both accepted. “I’m glad too!” Emma said. “Please enjoy yourselves, beautiful ladies,” Mr. Wilson said. Emma grabbed my hands and led me to a corner as we both sat down, observing the party. “It’s a pity I have a man. Look at all of these bad looking boys!” Emma gushed as I observed all of them, and my eyes fell on a portrait of someone.Damon I stared around and noticed he was actually staring at me with a cunning smile. He glanced at his phone, then at me again, and I immediately knew this guy was up to something not good. “Attention everyone, please clap for yourselves, beautiful ladies and handsome gentlemen!” Mr. Wilson said, and everyone started clapping. I fixed my focus on my phone as he kept talking and talking, and then I heard him say, “I would like my son Lucas to get married to a good friend’s daughter, Miss Nora Brown.” My head immediately sprang up in shock. “What?” Emma glanced at me with a sheepish smile. Get married to me? Everyone immediately started clapping with their eyes on me. “I’m sorry, Mr. Wilson, but I won’t allow my friend to get married to a w***e!” Damon said as loud gasps filled the air and the claps died down instantly. “And how dare you speak so ill of my sister?” Emma ranted, standing up angrily. I knew this boy was up to no good. “Speak ill of your sister? Why would I? I know you all will be saying, Oh, because she’s my ex, that’s why I want to tarnish her reputation. That's not it. Lucas is my friend, and I would like to look out for him. Nora here isn’t just a banker or an accountant or, rather, a businesswoman. She’s also a w***e and I have proof of it,” he said, staring straight at me. “Would you like to see Emma?” He questioned. “Yes, show it to me!” Emma replied with her hands on her hips. What’s this person up to? Proof of what exactly? “All eyes on the big screen, guys!” He said as everyone started getting close, then my picture displayed with me fully naked and a bald man sucking on my boobs. Oh my f*****g goodness!! “What the hell!!!” Emma lamented. Gasps filled the air as anger surged inside of me. I’m such a fool, I shouldn’t have sent him that photo. If anything, it should have been a one-time view, and now he has generated more of it by using artificial intelligence. He kept showing more and more, and they weren’t real. “Are you crazy, Damon? What’s this all about?” I stood up, walking towards him angrily. “If I’m lying, then where were you last night? You left your parents anniversary to go where exactly?” He asked, and I stopped in my tracks. How is he aware of that? Was that the reason he kept calling me repeatedly? Was he present?! “I… I…it’s none of your business,” I retorted. He shook his head, staring at me in disgust. “Look at you, Nora, you should feel ashamed of yourself. Is this the girl my friend wants to get married to and is this girl everyone wanted me to make my wife then? A w***e?” Everyone's eyes on me showed how disgusted they were about me. Why would Damon even dare to do such a thing to me? What did I ever do to him? The news spread just like wildfire as I heard reporters outside fighting to get themselves in. My parents must have been aware by now because their calls were trooping in. “Look at her, so cheap!” “So this is the proud daughter of Mr. Brown?” “Does this mean she has been sleeping with those chairmen for awards?” “And my mom was pressuring me to be like her, what a shame!” “Disgusting.” “Miss Banker, the w***e haha…” Shame enveloped me as I prayed that the ground should just open up and swallow me. Tears were forcing their way out of my eyes, but I blinked them back. They were all bantering and shading me, and my sister seemed like one who believed Damon because she wasn’t saying anything anymore. “Tell me, Nora, who would be so foolish enough to want to marry or even date a w***e like you and…” “I am the only one foolish enough to want to date her….” I heard a voice behind me as someone covered me with their large frame, making me feel secure. I cranked my neck up and stared at the person, he was the same stranger from yesterday. What’s he doing here? “Oh my God, it’s Mr. Hawk” “What’s Mr. Hawk doing here?” “Mr. Hawk?” He bent low to my level and wiped the tears off my face, which I didn’t seem to realize. “What are you doing here?” I asked with a low voice. “When I said you were mine, I wasn’t just joking,” he whispered with a smile before looking behind me, glaring daggers at Damon. “Damon?” He called strictly, making me wonder how he knows him. “Un…un…uncle, what are you doing here?” Damon stuttered in fear. Uncle? Is he Damon's uncle?
