NORA
I stepped into the house and my dad was sited on the couch in the living room. I haven't seen him since that commotion caused by Damon broke out.
"Dad!" I ran forward and hugged him tightly because he is the only companion I had right now.
He alone understands me unlike my mom and sister.
"Where have you been?" My mother's voice echoed loudly, and I immediately pulled away from my dad.
"I went out..." I replied casually.
"And you have the guts to leave your fiancée Damon behind and went out? What's wrong with you Nora? You've really changed a lot" My mother scolded, and I glanced at her briefly.
"Change? Mom are you the one speaking about change? I don't understand anyone any more ever since I arrived. You all have been acting so strange and weirdly, and you even want me to start treating Damon nicely and respect him because of what? It's like you all have forgotten the main reason why I left this country and I came back only for him to humiliate me publicly by calling me a w***e and then after I found out that our wedding is on the way and yet you want me to digest this so peacefully and with a great and open heart? Never, I would rather die than accept Damon as my husband" I spat before storming out.
"Nora?" Came dad's call and I stopped immediately.
"Come!" He ordered.
"Dad!!"
"Come sit Nora!"
I mumbled some few words to myself before sitting on the couch across him.
"Nora?" He called softly as my mom sat down beside him.
"Yes Dad,"
"I understand how you're feeling right now, and I know it's an easy press on your shoulders. We all know and remember what Damon did to you, and we haven't forgiven him neither are we ever going to forgive him..." My father started off and my eyes went straight to my mom.
She doesn't look like one who still remembers all what Damon did to me because all she cares about is making sure I marry him by must.
"You're my first child and daughter and nobody is auctioning you off neither are we using you for a business trade, no,no, no. We aren't poor people and so are you. You established your company in Italy after working for them to observe how they work, and you own one here as well. You have enough money and that's more than enough to carry you and your generation as far as they all are business minded and knows how to spend and calculate wisely.
Your sister as well Emma is also studying business and will soon be graduating then she can start working in my company and soon take over. None of my daughter are poor, and none of them have low standards, they are all educated and blessed with great IQ" My father said gently and this was the exact way my mother was supposed to be speaking to me.
"I wouldn't have agreed if it was Damon that came with the marriage proposal because I still see him as a toddler and a man who hasn't acting like one. It's because of Old Master Hawk that came to my office and told me that he has been waiting patiently for you and Damon to come back together, but he isn't seeing anything like that, and he thinks you would be the better woman for Damon. I told him it wasn't up to my choice, but then he told me to plead with you and I just didn't have a choice Nora. I couldn't tell you over the phone because I fear you wouldn't show up and just disappear..." My father paused and let out a deep sigh.
Things were clear now because I wanted to know the main reason why the marriage proposal was brought up and now I understand perfectly.
"But why is old Master Hawk so interested in Damon when he isn't his first grandson?" I asked because seeing the length Old Master Hawk went by coming to see my father without sending for him when he could have done that shows how much he cares for that i***t called Damon.
"Damon has been a lovely grandson to Old Master Hawk. He has always cares for his grandfather and his love for him is extraordinary unlike the rest grandchildren" My dad answered and I nodded.
That was true, have even witnessed it with my own eyes...now I see.
"But shouldn't Old Master Hawk be worried about his youngest son? He isn't married yet?" My mother rose a question up, and I immediately pressed my lips together as my heart hammered.
Xavier?
She's talking about him, but why? Now I have to go silent, and my dad would notice it.
"Xavier Hawk isn't really doing things for the Hawk family, and he isn't a normal man. He doesn't work for the Hawks family and the company he established is dragging with the Hawks which is surprising because the Hawks' family has been established for years so for Xavier Hawk to be dragging with his family business shows how smart he is, and he isn't one to mess with. It's a pity he's not married yet but even if Old Master Hawk decides to find a wife for him, he doesn't look like one who would accept it"
My father was actually making sense. There's a lot I need to know about him, and I'm aware of the resentment he had for his family but why?
"I guess he would be delighted to marry sister if Old master Hawk gave her to him..." I heard my sister's voice and I turned around only to see her walking inside with a girl… Maybe her friend, perhaps.
My eyes immediately fell on their outfits, and it was similar with the one I saw that stranger wearing earlier.
My brows furrow tightly as different thoughts clouded my thinking.
Was it them? Was it my sister or am I mistaken.
"What are you saying Emma? Don't sprout nonsense" My mom scolded.
"No mom it isn't nonsense, Is because you don't know the gist. When Damon was humiliating Sister publicly, Mr Hawk showed up and stood up for her, that's how Damon ended his stupid show because Mr Hawk was against it and even the way sister acted showed like they knew each other in some way, am I right sister?" Emma questioned, her hands on her waist with her eyes on me and I immediately felt invisible sweat running down my face.
Why is my sister taunting me this way?
"I don't know what you're talking about" I answered a frown crossing my face.
"But..."
"Stop it Emma, we don't have time for your silly jokes" My dad interrupted, and she fumed angrily before dragging her friend upstairs.
I let out a deep breath, Emma almost placed me on the edge of explaining myself else I would have been busted.
Thank you father.
Thank you for saving me...indeed not all heroes wear cape hehehehehe
