A month later good intentions of Friday morning coffee time updates have already been thrown to the wind.
It's been a busy month to say the least.
Johns husband has changed jobs again. He is now the manager at McDs. Last update he was training for management at Domino's. Fingers crossed he digs his heels in and stays a bit.
A few auctions have come and gone. Proud to say we are hitting record back to back solid numbers. This is great news as our small buisness continues to grow.
Our excitement was last week. Our buisness is on a major 2 way highway. Always busy not to far from Walmart. A customer snatches our exit door open and yells call 911. Having everyones attention I grab the phone and head out front so that I can tell 911 what I am calling for. A young man going a decent anount of speed. Posted speed is 45 mph. has wrecked his motorcycle and been thrown down the highway a bit. Tank top and jeans, thank fully a helmet, and no other protective gear.
As I am on the phone with the 911 operator the driver of the motorcycle picks up the motorcycle and gets it to the side of the road One gentleman in a white Ford truck stops and is helping him. No other traffic stops. He realizes a few of our customers are seeing to his well being and relaying I am calling for help.
The young man comes rushing over. He insist the guy in the white truck is taking him to the Emergency room and the 911 dispatch is cancelled. Motorcycle guy gives me his personal emergency contact info I call them as we are pulling his shirt and helmet off while waiting on the white truck to pull in to load him up. I am sure that the helmet and the good Lord is all that saved this yound man.
Hanging up with 911 he turns to ask the man in the white truck to take him and the guy stumbles over his reply of he guesses he could. That was not good enough for me. I tell motorcycle guy he has two options. My truck to the ER or I was calling 911 back out . I leave my mom in charge of the store. I stuff him in my truck. I call my Marcus and tell.him to get back to the store to get the motorcycle safely off the highwat before someone else wrecks again. It was on the white line at the side of the road Motorcycle guy's back is pure raw meat. He has slid down a highway that has eat his skin off while doing so. That small tank top was not protection. Come to find out as I am driving he has no drivers license and has a bag of weed on him. Great, I am a deputy's wife. He wants me to stop in route so he can dispose of it. Yeah. ok. not happening. My store is under five miles to the hospital as we are a small town. I told him his options were to get rid of it the best way he knew how and we weren't stopping. Now we know why he really avoided 911. He was scared of going to jail.
Pulling into the hospital the drop off circle is full full. So I squeeze my truck as close as I can and head for a wheel chair. Before I grab it I tell the security guard I have a person thats wrecked their bike that I picked up and brought in. Dummy me doesnt look to see that the security just brushes it off. Or that dummy me probably should have clearly stated motorcycle. Motorcycle guy comes walking in as I go to walk out. This hospital has no sign in. No triage. No one comes out to check. I am now in what the #&$% mode. We have an emergency. You ate an emergency room right. Nearly ten minutes later we get the right staff member to assist us. I wasn't looking for a bed and a room but at least truage the guy. I now know that our local hospital, that just got bought out, is more of a doc in the box versus and actual ER. The lack of motivation to get any one wanting to help us tells me I will never want to go back.
Motorcycle guy is finally rolled too the back and I head back to work and finish out my day. I never did hear how he ended up. One things for sure he's going to be sore for awhile. He did tell me his name but only his nick name of Buckwheat stood out. I could have used my husband to find out but no need for all that. Hopefully Motorcycle guy will be smart and get his s**t straight so if by chance he has a next time he doesn't prevent himself from getting good quality care.
