Chapter 1
Lakeside High was the best boarding school in Swynbank, it was famous for being the most inclusive diverse school in America. I would describe it very differently and you will see why when I tell you my.....unique and certainly not inclusive experience.
It all started when we moved to Swynbank in Virginia from Dallas. Ellie hated the fact her family had to move as she was happy at school and accepted by her friends. The girl didn't think that her old school was amazing or anything like that, it has assholes in but they were manageable, so she didn't care. However, Lakeside High was a different story. The year was already half way through the first semester of the sophomore year. The school looked amazing on the outside with the weak sunshine shining down on the short green grass that was exquisitely cut. The marl grey mansion-like building looked like something out of a book. The cool autumn air was crisp on the morning of my first day at the boarding school.
The dark-haired girl with blue eyes walked through the double doors and was immediately greeted by the ill-mannered receptionist, who was clearly hungover and tired. She spoke "Hi, what do you want?"
Shocked slightly, Ellie looked over to her and replied "Hello, I'm Ellie Donovan, I am starting today."
"Alright, here's everything you need, such as a list of books and other school supplies, your dorm room and key, your ID badge and you will get your house when you see the principal. He will see you now", she said in a sharp tone, clearly wanting to be left alone. She just nodded and thanked her before following the campus map to the principal's office. Once the petite, tall girl had arrived, she proceeded to knock on the door and wait until she was told to enter. Once she did, the principal greeted her and asked her to sit down so he could explain the timetable, rules and uniform, which was a red blazer with a white shirt and black pleated leather skirt and black leather pants for whoever wanted them with nice dress shoes. Once she had received all the information needed. The principal looked her up and down slowly before speaking. "Everything you brought and need is in your dorm room. You're across from Kaitlyn Jackson. She is the school president and she will show you around, as well as answer any questions for you."
"Thank you very much Mr Jeanbart" Ellie smiled before leaving the room, feeling slightly creeped out by the principal. She shook off the feeling and made her way to the dorm and walked into her room. There was a girl in there who had already unpacked and was sitting on her bed reading a Percy Jackson book. This made her smile to herself before walking in and nervously saying "Hey...Hi I'm Ellie, we must be sharing the room?" It was spoken as a rhetorical question.
The blond-haired girl with hazel eyes looked up and smiled kindly before getting up and saying "Hey Ellie, I'm Morgan Chambers, it's a pleasure to meet you". The girl had a short build and couldn't be much taller than 5"4, whereas Ellie was 5"9. Once they had greeted each other, the two girls chatted about themselves as they got to know each other for a while, as Ellie unpacked and sorted herself out. Now it was dinner time and so the girls left the dorm area and made their way to the canteen.
As soon as they reached the door of the canteen, they could hear loud chatter from all the students. Morgan decided to go and save them a table. It was a co-ed school and so there were tons of boys around. Everyone seemed to get along well from the looks of it. That's when Kaitlyn appeared in the room and even though there was clearly a long queue, the ginger-haired, blue eyes and clearly fake-tanned girl just walked past everyone. Which seemed to make everyone quiet as she walked past them.
Ellie wasn't going to let that happen. As Kaitlyn came up to her, the brave new girl put her arm out to block the obviously snobby, thinks she's better than anyone girl dead in her tracks. Kaitlyn spoke "excuse me but I think your arm is in my way, honey" she spoke in a posh accent, so she obviously came from money.
Ellie, who had a normal Texan accent, simply said "Oh dear I didn't realise you were there, but do you know the end of the line is wayyy back there.....honey?" In a fake mocking tone. Kaitlyn was clearly not happy with this as she scoffed out and glared at her. "Look girl, I know you're new here but this is the way things are. I run this school b***h so fall in line, tall girl or you. will. regret it."
Ellie chuckled "I've seen worse than you, what are you gonna do sweetie, run to mommy and daddy or just post a bad comment on my i********:. I'm terrified I'm shaking." She rolled her eyes "now get to the end of the queue, fake tan." This made Kaitlyn grit her teeth and she stomped off just like a child who just got told off. Ellie proceeded to get her food and went to sit down.
The whole canteen was still in shock as the new girl had just went on with her day like that was the end of it. The boys and girls all stared at this strange girl in amazement and were all intrigued by her, but they were also scared and worried for her, as she clearly didn't realise what she had just started with the most feared girl in school. Will she survive Lakeside High when she has already angered the Queen Bee?
