Mary gazed into my eyes with a slight smile and big doe-eyes that simply made her irresistible. I then came to my senses and saw that we weren’t alone and beyond that, we were close to our destination. Though it would be a short coach ride to our neighborhood, I could not count this as it was no more than an hour until we would be in our comfortable home. I moved to the seat opposite Mary and slid into a comfortable position at the table. I was pleased, above all, that Mary was safe and the stranger had not accosted her by any means. In fact, Mary seemed to be completely calm as she sat looking out the window at the trees going by in rapid succession.
