3 The next day began as any other, with the sun rising as Mary and I lurched out of bed. We stumbled to gather our clothes and dress for the day ahead. It was not known what we would be doing or if we wished to leave our home. Nothing was assured on a day such as this and it seemed as if we had been given a blank slate which gave me comfort in a very profound way. I knew that Mary would be eager to leave home and search out the sites within the city, but it would have to simply wait for another day as we were to spend this time getting settled. I felt the excitement within the room as Mary slipped her last shoe onto her foot and seemingly jumped with joy.
