Ours Dream

I have a sibling named Shobi. Shobi is the kindest among us siblings. We have dreams for each other that only we know. I'm Shushu, Shobi's sibling. We also have other siblings: Kuya Shaun, Kuya Cedric, and Ate Venice. One Monday morning, we were getting ready for school. We changed clothes first, then ate breakfast before hopping into our car. (We're not rich, but our family is comfortable.) Dad drove us to school, and it only took a few minutes to get there. We got out of the car. I'm in Grade 7, Shobi is in Grade 8, Kuya Cedric is in Grade 10, Ate Venice is in Grade 12, and Kuya Shaun is a freshman in college. We all go to the same school. After getting out of the car, we said goodbye to Dad. Shobi and I also said goodbye to our siblings since their building was far away. As we walked together, Shobi said something to me. Shobi: "Shushu, it feels so good, like Kuya Shaun being in college already." Shushu: "Oh, Shobi, you know even though Kuya Shaun's in college, he still has 3 years before he graduates." Shobi: "Yeah, but I'm saying it feels good to be in college." Shushu: "Yeah, because we're almost there too, so we should really work hard in our studies so we can be like Kuya Shaun." Shobi: "So let's go for it, so we can travel to different places we want and help Mom and Dad." Shushu: (smiles) While walking, we didn't realize we were already at my room. I said goodbye to Shobi, and she did the same. I went to my room, sat down, and started reading "Maria Makiling," Shobi and my favorite book. Suddenly, our teacher came in. Teacher: "Okay class, put those away. Let's start. Good morning, everyone!" Students: "Good morning, Teacher!" Teacher: "Please sit down. I'll discuss our new topic." Students: "Okay, Teacher." (Discussion and Q&A) A few minutes later, the bell rang, signaling recess. We only had 15 minutes, so we quickly went to find Shobi. We needed to get our money from Ate Venice. Shobi joined us, and we went to Ate Venice. Shushu: "Ate, we need our money." Ate Venice: "Oh, right. Don't buy junk food; it's bad for you." Shobi: "Yes, Ate. Don't worry, we won't." Shushu: "Ate, will we eat at home later?" Ate Venice: "Yes, when Kuya Shaun gets home." Shushu: "Okay, Ate. We'll buy now. Thanks! Bye." Ate Venice: "Okay, bye. No junk food!" Shobi: "Got it." We went to the canteen. Following Ate's instructions, we bought healthy snacks, sat down, and chatted. Then, our cousins, Clarissa and Sofia, arrived. Clarissa: "Cousins! I didn't think you'd be here today." Shobi: "Hey! Come sit with us." Shushu: "It's Monday; of course we came to school! We're good siblings!" Sofia: "What did you buy?" Shobi: "Our snacks." Sofia: "Oh, I thought you got junk food again." Shobi: "Nope! Ate Venice and Mom said it's bad for us, so we got this instead." Clarissa: "You guys are so good! You're right to listen to your elders; their advice is always for our benefit." The bell rang, ending recess. We said goodbye to our cousins and ran back to class. Our teacher arrived, and the lesson continued as before. (Discussion and Q&A) Class ended, and the bell rang for lunch at 11:30 AM. Shobi waited for me; they finished before us. We first went to Kuya Shaun. Shobi: "Kuya Shaun, will we eat at home today?" Kuya Shaun: "Sorry, guys, I can't go home today. I'll eat here; I have things to do later. Don't worry, I've told Dad to pick you up. Venice and Cedric will eat at home." Shushu: "Okay, Kuya. Bye!" Kuya Shaun: "Okay, bye Shobi and Shushu." We found Kuya Cedric and Ate Venice, left school, got in our car, and arrived home shortly after. We greeted Nanay. Nanay: "How was school?" Kuya Cedric: "Good, Nay." Ate Venice: "Good, but my thesis is tough, but I'll manage." Shushu: "Good, Nay." Shobi: "Good, Nay." Nanay: "Good. Eat now before you're late." Ate Venice: "Okay, Nay." We ate lunch, brushed our teeth, and then Kuya, Nanay, and Tatay watched a movie. Ate worked on her thesis; Shobi and I read. After a while, Nanay said, Nanay: "Kids, it's 1 PM." Ate Venice: "Oh no! Siblings, we might be late!" Shobi: "Relax, Ate, it's only 1 PM." Kuya Cedric: "Okay, Nay, we're leaving now." Nanay: "Be careful. Call when you're on your way home; Dad will pick you up." Shushu: "Okay, Nay." We said goodbye, got in the car, and arrived back at school. We said goodbye again and went to our rooms. Our teacher arrived, and class started. (Discussion) Teacher: "That's all for today. You'll go home early; there's a teacher's meeting. Okay class, goodbye." Students: "Goodbye, Teacher! Yes, we're going home early!" Teacher: "Go straight home; no stopping at the mall. Straight home!" Students: "Okay, Teacher, got it!" I went to find Shobi. Shushu: "Shobi, let's go find Kuya and Ate so we can go home early." Shobi: "Okay, let's go." We met them on the way. Ate Venice: "Oh, you're here already. Let's go." Shushu: "Oh, you're here, Ate." Ate Venice: "Let's go. Let's get in the car." We got in the car, and after a few minutes, we were home. We greeted Nanay, went to the kitchen to eat, brushed our teeth, went to our room to change, then came back downstairs. Nanay and Tatay watched TV; Kuya played ML; Ate worked on her thesis; Shobi and I read and talked. Shobi: "Shushu, I have a question." Shushu: "What is it?" Shobi: "If you were a book, what would be the title of your story?" Shushu: "Hmmm... maybe 'Lost and Found,' but with a happy ending. What about you?" Shobi: "Mine would be 'Our Dream.'" Shushu: "Why that?" Shobi: "Because 'Our Dream' is about our dreams, and the main characters would be you and me because we share those dreams together." Shushu: "Wow, I really like that!" Shobi: "When we grow up, that's going to be our story, with a happy ending." Shushu: (laughs) "That's a great idea; it's based on our real lives! (laughs, smiles)" Nanay called us to go to our room to sleep. We prayed, and then Shobi said: Shobi: "Goodnight, sister." Shushu: "Goodnight too, my lovely sister." And we fell asleep.
